An emotive tale of ecological healing over the lifetime of one girl. I appreciate that the book showcases a strong, loving relationship between a Middle Eastern child and her grandfather. The illustrations are also quite lovely and suited to the tone of the story: they feel almost Cubistic, lending a sense of smaller pieces crafting a beautiful whole (seeds to trees).
The Girl Who Planted Trees by Caryl Hart is about an ambitious young girl who decides to take on the immense task of repopulating a forest on a grey mountain. This story outlines the resilience, willingness and pure drive a little girl has as she works hard to bring the grey mountain back to its former lush glory. She reaches many roadblocks that constantly set her back, but she continues to push forward with the support of her grandfather and eventually her community.
The book is brilliantly illustrated by Anastasia Suvorova. The images are whimsical and vibrantly coloured. This story is a great book to introduce botany, sustainability, perseverance and the importance of community to younger children while not making the subject overly daunting.
This was a sweet, beautifully drawn book highlighting the need to care for the world around us. If doesn't have to take a global effort, we can start right where we are with what we have.
The Girl Who Planted Trees is a beautifully illustrated story filled with inspirational determination. I love how with full support from her family - she herself bloomed. This book is a wonderful example for children to follow their heart. If we had more children realize their potential when they are young like this little girl what a different world we could live in. Great story for little ones. I highly recommend this book and will buy it for others.
This is a beautifully illustrated book about a girl who wants to help her community. She has a dream of planting a forest and she plants a single peach pit. She faces many obstacles and is laughed at by several people but she perseveres throughout the story. She goes on to plant many more trees and teaches others to do the same. Highly recommend for young children and for classrooms! It

Beautiful illustrations for a sweet inspiring story of a girl who dreams of planting a forest on their mountain. The girl learns about growing trees and brings her community together.
I loved this story! The way the made the mountain beautiful again, but it did not happen immediately. I especially liked how everyone came together for the common goal.
This was such a beautiful book! The art style is absolutely gorgeous!! The story is lovely, a story of environmentalism and perseverance. It is a bit long, but I still think this would be a great story to introduce concepts of conservation to children.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. The story of a little girl who helps plants trees and doesn't give up even when she loses a few.
BEAUTIFUL story about caring for the Earth, caring for your community, and the importance of perseverance. The illustrations are absolutely lovely. Fantastic way to introduce your youngest learners to the importance of caring for their environment!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book!
I loved this beautiful and inspiring story of a determined girl who made her dream come true. Her kindness spread and made a huge difference where she lived. This will be a great book for my environmental activism unit and demonstrates how one person can make a huge impact and it doesn’t take money or fame to do it.
I received an advanced copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
A young girl living in a quaint village notices their mountain has no forest. What starts as a question turns into a journey of a lifetime. With the help of her grandfather and later her village, the young girl is determined to create a forest of blooming trees for everyone to enjoy.
It is a heartwarming picture book about trying hard to build something new again. The young girl plants her seeds, and despite the weather and animals, she tries again and again. Readers will see her grow as she cares for the mountain forest. An educational and rewarding read.
This book is precious! It's a story of resilience and strength, and the importance of sticking with your dreams. The end of the book was so heartwarming.
