I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.
Set in the 1930's in Berlin, Sophia Alexander may be the daughter of the town's doctor; but that will not save her from the hell of Hitler's Third Reich. She does what she can to help people, including her sister, escape Berlin before they are prosecuted or sent to the camps. Sophia enters the convent, while devoted to God and the religion, she continues to help people escape. She is also stopped by the police, and given her family's history, they do not believe that she is a nun, and they take her to the Ravensbuuck concentration camp. There, she meets a bunch of like minded women and they plan their escape from the camp. They successfully escape and hid in a town miles away from the camp. The story continues about her time at the farm she hides at while the war is still raging. Once the war is over, and she returns to Berlin, what is there for her?

This is a great book. Danielle Steel is a great storyteller. The main character is Sophia. She is a nurse and aspiring nun. She lives n Germany, during World War Two. Her family is torn apart, her father is in a camp, where he dies. Her sister and brother-in-law run away to Switzerland. Sophia is arrested and put in a camp. This story is about all the terrible things that happen in a war, but Sophia has hope.

This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope There is more to come from this author! I am totally hooked!

First book of the year for me & I loved it! Sophia is a nurse & novice nun, who suffers during WWII cause of who her family is & what they did, even without them being Jewish. Through her struggles & experiences throughout the war, Sophia has such a kind, serving heart for others. With her caring & nursing heart, she meets someone who changes everything for her in the end. I do wish some parts didn’t tell you what happened after the fact & you could read through some of the circumstances. Other than that, excellent!

Another beautifully written read by Danielle Steel. This historical fiction is set during WW2. A sister turned nurse, turned nun, turned prisoner of war. It was definitely a page turner.

Danielle Steel delivers another compelling and emotional story with Only the Brave. This novel captures the resilience of the human spirit and the courage it takes to navigate life’s unexpected challenges. The protagonist’s journey is both heartbreaking and inspiring, showcasing Steel’s signature ability to create characters who feel real and relatable.
The pacing is steady, with moments of tension and resolution woven seamlessly into the narrative. Steel’s writing style, as always, is engaging and accessible, making this book difficult to put down. While the story explores themes of loss, love, and second chances, it also serves as a reminder that bravery often comes in the quiet moments of persistence and hope.
I would highly recommend this book to fans of Danielle Steel and anyone looking for a heartfelt, uplifting read. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is that a couple of the subplots felt slightly underdeveloped, but this did not detract significantly from my enjoyment of the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book!

A different approach by Steel and one I appreciated. Looking at the devastation of Hitler's regime during WW2, this book has you on the edge of your seat and experiencing so many emotions. A good read and hard to put down. Thanks to net galley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I couldn’t put it down. But wow just an amazing book loved the happy ending! Such an insightful book! But after reading this I knew it would be a 5 star yet again. Recommend highly! I love all Danielle Steel books I never have not read one I didn't love. Each has a different story but it grabs your interest right from the start. Every book of hers always finds a way to grab at your heartstrings.

This Danielle Steel book does not disappoint. This historical fiction takes place in the WWII era. Sofia's mother is ill and dies, so she must help care for her younger sister Theresa. Their Father is a doctor and owns a private hospital. As the war starts and they are rounding up the Jewish people, some don't believe harm will come. Sophia attends resistance meetings, she helps Jewish children to safety; along with her sister and husband to sneak into Switzerland. Sophia becomes a nurse and joins the convent. Her Father is arrested, and the Germans burn his hospital and house to the ground. Sophia is arrested by association and is sent to a concentration camp. Who can survive? Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters.

Danielle Steel has a crazy way of writing, sometimes you can guess what is going to happen and other they can’t. You can never go bad with any Danielle Steel book, they keep everyone intrigued from beginning to end

This book was a little disturbing to me. It told of the story of Hitler and all the people he killed.

Danielle Steel has disappointed me yet. I have read so many of her books and each one is like an old friend. Only The Brave is an excellent example of her writing. A young woman, is faced with unimaginable challenges. Sophia Alexander is the daughter of a surgeon in Berlin and is well respected. She has a wonderful family but her mother gets sick and passes away. Seemingly, Right after he death, Hitler come into control and Sophia’s whole world is tuned upside down. She must protect her sister and care for her father to keep the house moving. She feels strongly about the resistance movement brewing in Berlin. She knows she can get into so much trouble but she also doesn’t want to sit back and do nothing. Times get increasingly tough and it is time to get people out of Berlin. Sophia helps her sister and her husband escape. Her father helps more and more people, illegally because he is no longer able to practice. All of the Jews are in constant threat and it is a horrible time. It ends up that Sophia is left behind, her father eventually gets arrested and taken away to a concentration camp and Sophia must survive. She seeks shelter in a convent and considers all the blessings within. She realizes she can do more than she thinks and she can really make a difference. Daniel Steel is able to take tragedy and find hope. To create characters that are doers and are helpers. You can’t help but get behind the main character and wish her the best. Sophia has every reason in the world to give up but she can’t sit by and wait. She has to act. Who doesn’t love a character like that? This was an excellent, quick read. I want to thank Netgalley, Random House Publishing Group/Ballantine for my copy for an honest review. It was my pleasure to read and review this book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

ONLY THE BRAVE
Danielle Steel, author
Historical Fiction
Starting before Hitler’s rise to power, this book takes you through the end of World War II. This book is about the brave young men and women who helped Jews flee to safety, focusing mostly on children, throughout the war.
While this book didn’t immediately capture my attention, it did not disappoint. It will have you crying one minute and biting your nails in a different part. This book definitely was 5 out of 5 stars for me.

I love a good WWII story, and Danielle writes great ones. Sophia is the ultimate female war hero. She is determined to do anything she can to help the resistance after losing her father and being forced to say get her sister to safety. She’s dedicated to her nursing and helping Jewish children. She takes risks to help the resistance, even risks that put the nuns and others in danger. She’s such a relatable character. A young woman trying her hardest to survive in whatever way she can.
Thank you Random House - Ballantine and NetGalley for my ARC of this book.

As a fan of WWII historical novels, I found Only the Brave by Danielle Steel to be an exceptional read. Sophia, exemplifies bravery throughout the novel. She dedicates her life to nursing as an assistant to her father, a famous surgeon in Berlin. As the older sister, she acquires the role of mothering her younger sister. When Hitler rises in power, Sophia 's family are in danger.. She becomes a heroine to women and to Jewish children. Will she forever put others ahead of her own happiness.

Thank you to NetGalley and author Danielle Steel for allowing me to read this work for my unbiased opinion.
In her latest work set just before the start of WWII, Ms Steele follows a non Jewish family and how they each navigate this tumultuous
time. How each person does what they think is right and how/if they are willing to face the consequences. This is not your typical Steel romance, but so much more. It’s about how one can be in the right and still suffer, how to find those happy gems in the middle of suffering, and how you come out the other side.
I rate this book 4⭐️

This historical fiction book about Germany during WWII, seems to be a litttle far fetched at times. There were several instances where the author repeated what was already said. I can believe a young girl who wants to dedicate her life to nursing and the convent, but that she escaped a concentration camp so easily with 4 other women? Things just worked out too perfectly in so many instances it was hard to swallow.

Another master story from Danielle Steel. Although the story is not unique, the story is heartful and worthy of a read.
A young girl in Germany enters a convent (as a trained nurse) as her father is arrested for not following Nazi orders. Her sister escapes to Switzerland to safely deliver her nephew. The young girl, Sophia, is arrested from the convent as her family history is discovered. The story continues with her challenges throughout the war.

Years ago there was a Danielle Steel book The Promise, everybody loved it. Well this book compares to that. I absolutely loved this book.
Sophia Alexander lives in Germany before WWII. She becomes a nurse and her Dad a doctor. Sophia doesn't agree with Hitler's point of view.
She helps others through the war.
Please read!
Thanks to publisher Delacorte Press and NetGalley ARC.

World War II fiction that does not hesitate to talk about the horrors of the concentration camps. I wish Steel had done more showing and less telling, but this was a compelling read.
I received a free copy of this book from the publishers via Netgalley. My review is voluntary and the opinions expressed are my own.
