I don’t know what I was expecting with this novel, but it certainly wasn’t what I got, which was BLOWN AWAY. Seriously, Tintera weaves a mystery in the most compelling way. Listen for the Lie was expertly crafted and executed. I never even came close to guessing the ending. Amazing. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next. I would give this novel more than 5 stars if I could. Phenomenal writing.
I'm a sucker for a thriller with a podcast element, so that worked well for me here. I definitely didn't find it revolutionary, but it held my attention and I enjoyed how the ending unfolded.
This was wild, I loved the fast pace . The storyline was clever and kept me guessing. New to this Author but would definately read her again.
While intrigued by the promising premise of a popular podcast host investigating a murder alongside the suspected perpetrator, Lucy, the reader found their expectations slightly elevated for this book. Lucy, plagued by intrusive and unsettling thoughts of committing murder, grapples with amnesia, toxic family dynamics, and a complicated personal life filled with infidelity.
The story balances the engaging elements of the podcast interviews, Lucy's dark thoughts, and the unraveling mystery, set against a vivid Texas backdrop. However, the reader found themselves hoping for more focus on the investigative aspects rather than solely on Lucy's internal struggles. Despite the mixed experience, they appreciated Lucy's humor and clever responses, which added entertainment value to the narrative.
Overall, the book offers an entertaining read with a blend of suspense, humor, and complex character dynamics, set to be released on March 5, 2024. The reviewer acknowledges receiving the ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to explore the book
Listen for the lie' by Amy Tintera was a fun read. The mystery, romance and dark humour makes this a page-turner you want to read in one sitting. Lucy Chase from small town Plumpton, TX goes from being victim to number one suspect in the murder of her friend Savvy. Lucy unfortunately can't remember anything from the night in question.
Ben, the true crime podcast host of 'Listen for the lie' is now in Plumpton to tear apart the narrative and find the murderer.
In a town where everyone has their own opinion of the events, Lucy must listen to the closest and dearest of her inner circle give their versions. Will she now take things in to her own hands and help Ben find the killer? I enjoyed how the author poked holes at the whole story in the form of podcaster. What if she proves herself to be the killer?

Listen For The Lie - Amy Tintera
📖 In this mystery with thrill and suspense we meet Lucy, our main character, who may or may not have murdered her best friend. She genuinly does not know. What she dooes know is that she was found wandering the streets with Savvy’s blood on her hands and dress and that she can’t remember a single thing from the evening and night before. Did she do it? The whole town seems to think so. At what point does the truth stop mattering? When a podcast picks up the cold case and start digging into the past Lucy might finally be able to put to rest whether or not she killed her best friend.
📚 This book was so well written that I struggled to put it down. I wanted to know how the plot would continue to develop and where answers would come from. Amy Tintera has done a masterful job of engaging the reader and unveiling the past in a dark and thrilling way. I loved every page.
🌟 This gave some “None of This is True” vibes because it has a podcast included in the book. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a fast paced, murder mystery, slightly suspenseful book. Even if you’re not normally a mystery person, this might be worth checking out!

I loved this book! It kept me entertained and was not predictable. It was an interesting read, and I always love an unreliable narrator. I would recommend this book to someone that's in reading slump for something exciting and quick.
This is a fast paced Who Done It combined with the new theme of podcasting. Lucy cannot remember what happened to her best friend Savvy, and since Lucy was covered in blood walking home, most of the town, including her husband and parents, assume Lucy is responsible. While Lucy is never charged with anything, Savvy's death follows her. Then a new podcaster comes to town to help figure out what happened. While no one is too likable in this book, the story moves quickly and keeps you reading and guessing.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
Lucy and Savannah were best friends. Until Savannah ended up dead and Lucy couldn't remember what had happened. Now everyone thinks she did it, to the point she might even believe it's true.
Lucy leaves her small town to start over in California and returns 5 years later for her grandma's 80th birthday. Where she runs into podcaster Ben Owens, whose podcast, Listen for the Lie, is focused on finding Savannah's killer.
Since surviving whatever trauma she and her best friend Savvy had endured, Lucy is plagued with intrusive thoughts about killing people. Savvy's voice. Is that her way of dealing with what happened, or is there something more sinister going on?
This book gripped me from the very beginning, and I really didn't want to put it down. I love that Lucy is such an unapologetic smart-ass, and given how she was treated, I don't blame her. And her grandma Beverly was such a hoot! I could read about her all day!
There were twists and surprises all throughout the book that kept me on my toes, even though I guessed what really happened somewhat early on. But that didn't make the book any less enjoyable. It was a fantastic read! Thank you @netgalley @celadonbooks and @amytintera for the advanced copy.
I really enjoyed this book! It kept me interested from the beginning. I highly recommend the audiobook!
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publishers for the ARC!
Thank you Celadon and NetGalley for the eARC of Listen For The Lie! All opinions in this review are my own.
I think my expectations were too high for this thriller. Listen For The Lie has been getting so many great reviews and I loved A Good Girl's Guide to Murder so I expected it would be similar based on the premise. I enjoyed reading it and finished it after only two days, but I was expecting it to have more twists. The only real surprise at the end is the big reveal which was to be expected anyway. While I didn't love this one, I would read more by this author.
This is a fantastic read, perfect for the summer, the pages just flew by! I loved the format - it goes back and forth between past and present, and the podcast transcripts work really well with the narrative. The mystery of Savvy's murder kept me guessing to the end. Don't miss this one!
This was such a fun read! I loved the podcast transcripts mixed in, they really gave a lot of dimension to the story. The cast of characters was done so well, because with that many people it could feel overwhelming or confusing but everyone was so distinct and the way their stories wove together made sense. I couldn't put it down!
My love of podcasts meets my joy of thrillers in Listen for a Lie. Lucy returns home after many years away and meets with Ben, a Podcaster, to look into if she killed her friend, Savvy. The story is a great pace with a good flow. I highly recommend!
I thoroughly enjoyed this one!! Listen for the Lie was a bingeworthy, couldn't put down book for me. I finished it fast and stayed up way past my bedtime. I loved the main character and her snarky, sarcastic attitude. I liked how the storyline unfolded between chapters in the present, past, and chapters including the podcast transcript. That kept it entertaining and the storyline kept me guessing and turning the pages. The ending brought some suspenseful moments that ended the book perfectly! Highly recommend this one!!
Thank you, Celadon Books, and Net Galley, for a copy in return for my honest review.
I read this book in 2 days because everytime I would put the book down for 10 minutes I would return and need to read more chapters. I liked the format of the book, the characters, and how lighthearted this thriller was. I could definitely see this being turned into a limited tv show. My personal rating for the book was a 4.5/5. As much as I loved the book, the twist wasn’t too crazy but I really didn’t mind because it still kept me on the edge of my seat. This was a really good read and I’ll recommend it to others.
I have a new favorite author! I was drawn in from the very first page. I love a good cold case mystery! She had a good way of keeping you guessing until the end and a fast paced writing style. Thank you, NetGalley for the arc of this fantastic book!
I throughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook! It’s so well done! I devoured it in an afternoon. The pacing was perfect and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I loved the FMC, Lucy and her unhinged thoughts and behaviors. I also loved the small town setting and all of the side characters.
The podcast was a great addition to the bookstore. I enjoyed how the episodes were sprinkled throughout. I don’t want to say too much more about the plot. Going in blind is the best way to enjoy this book!
I highly recommend reading this book if you enjoy podcast style thrillers, small town drama, and unreliable narrators.
I enjoyed this book. It is not my typical reading style, but I enjoyed the description. The cover is simple yet eye-catching. The premise was easy to understand, yet the characters and the storyline provided enough to keep me glued to this book. The book jumps between time periods and POV but is done in a very understandable way. I did not want it to end as I genuinely enjoyed all aspects of the story.
I found myself rooting for the FMC Lucy. We get her point of view as a basis for what is going on. Lucy has experienced many seasons of life as a young woman and is trying to figure out who she is. We are introduced to her family and past friends and get a peek into what her life used to be like compared to now. With the help of Lucy, her family, and old friends, our MMC Ben works to solve the mystery of what happened that night.
Overall, I recommend this book. It is a perfect entry into the thriller category for new readers.
