This book definitely lived up to all the hype! It was SO GOOD!! I'm a little obsessed with books that have a podcast element to them, and this one is hands down the best that I've read!
The characters were so well written. I loved Lucy's sarcasm and dark humor and that she made a good unreliable narrator. Ben, although a bit smug, was determined to put out a great podcast and hopefully solve the mystery of who killed Savvy. And Grandma Beverly was quite funny and entertaining!
This book was such a page turner! It kept me in suspense with all the twists. It made me laugh at times and made my jaw drop once or twice!
If you're looking for a great mystery/thriller that you will fly through in no time, pick this one up!
I look forward to the author's next adult novel!

Lucy was tried and convicted by the court of public opinion for her best friend’s murder. Though the police never had enough for a formal conviction, Lucy has no memory of the night and isn’t even fully convinced herself that she’s not the murderer her hometown believes her to be. After moving away and mostly escaping her dark past, a podcaster reopens the case casting light on new evidence. We follow Lucy back to her hometown to try to find out what happened that night once and for all.
I LOVED this book, the pacing was perfect, the chapters were short and incorporated mixed media with podcast transcripts, the characters were morally grey and layered. Every time I thought I knew where the story was going, there was another unexpected twist or revelation. This is bound to be one of the best thrillers of 2024 🥳

Thank you @celadonbooks and @macmillan.audio for my gifted copies!
It’s pub day and also LFL drop day! Off to drop one of my favorite reads of February, and probably 2024.
This is how you do unlikeable main characters. It’s a fine dance on making a character unlikable and not ruining the story. Amy Tintera is chefs kiss when it comes to Lucy. Lucy gives me very much a Gillian Flynn Sharp Objects type character. She’s self deprecating, makes the worst decisions, but someone out there believes in her. (It’s her grandma, Beverly, that’s who)
I have been over podcasts for a while now, so I didn’t know how I’d feel about this one. My only complaint is to sign a petition to make podcasts have better theme music. I love mixed media, so this was actually really well done. I loved the different sides of the story that were told and how they came about.
Audio was great. It was a whole production with the podcasting and recording. I loved it and highly recommend on audio if you’re an audio listener. I mean, it’s freaking January LaVoy, what else do you expect except perfection? Also, Will Damron? Yes. This combo was everything you need.
Overall, a hit. Solid 5 🏃♀️. I don’t want to spoil it but I loved the ending so much. The “aftermath” I guess you could call it. Lucy’s last line of the podcast too?! 🥹

This fast-paced thriller features a true-crime podcast, a case of amnesia, and small-town idiosyncrasies. The best way I can describe it is a Mary Kay Andrews setting with an HBO plot, and I loved every aspect of the combination. The small Texas town and its many occupants are hysterical, full of life, and poking their noses into everyone else's business. Lucy, our main character, has long been the main suspect in her friend Savvy’s death.
When a podcaster named Ben comes to town, determined to solve the case, Lucy’s grandmother guilts her into meeting with him. What follows is a high-stress, fast-paced race to get as many answers as possible from the townspeople before they realize Ben isn’t looking for evidence to prove Lucy’s guilt.
I INHALED this book. Every moment I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it. I have really liked every thriller book with a podcast element (probably because I like podcasts), but this was the best version I’ve read so far. The plot’s pacing, woven together with Lucy’s memories and Ben’s podcast episodes, clearly had me on the edge of my seat.

Nothing like posting a review on Pub Day! I picked up Listen for the Lie late last week and just HAD to finish it last night to share my thoughts. 4.5/5 stars - that last half of a star was left off because I felt like there were just a few items that could’ve been cleaned up/explained to the reader a little bit better - but honestly, that must just be a personal preference. Do not let that stop you from picking up this book! Right off the bat, it reminded me of Truth Be Told on Apple TV - which I was obsessed with, so it makes sense that this book stuck to me, too. Lucy and her grandma were my absolute FAVORITE people - their no nonsense attitude added the perfect amount of levity and humor to this wonderful new thriller from Amy Tintera.

Lucy Chase finds herself at the center of a murder mystery when she’s accused of killing her best friend, Savvy. Despite having no memory of the night in question, Lucy is haunted by the accusations and the traumatic events that transpired years ago. Now, a true crime podcast hosted by Ben Owens is reigniting interest in the case, forcing Lucy to confront her past and return to her hometown in Texas.
With the help of her witty grandmother and an unexpected ally in Ben, Lucy navigates through small-town intrigue and family drama to uncover the truth, even if it means facing the possibility that she might be the killer everyone believes her to be.
This book captivated me from the very first page until the final sentence. The author skillfully crafted a narrative that kept me guessing at every character’s motives. It had me utterly engrossed, unable to stop reading and listening, since I devoured the audiobook too.
I have to give a special shoutout to the audiobook version, as the narrators did an exceptional job bringing the story to life. Their performances (especially the podcast parts) added an extra layer of depth to the already captivating tale, immersing me even further into Lucy’s world of small-town intrigue and dark secrets.
Overall, Listen for the Lie is a must-read (and must-listen) for fans of thrilling mysteries. It’s a wild ride from start to finish, and I can’t recommend it enough.
Thank you @celadonbooks @macmillan.audio and @netgalley for the gifted copy of this book.

Wow. This was 5 stars for me! I primarily read thrillers and usually they are predictable and played out - this was neither of those. Lucy was accused of her murderinf her best friend 5 years ago and has no memory of the night it happened. A podcaster is taking on the case to try and solve it. She heads back to her hometown where all sorts of new information and twists start coming out.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I finished in one day. I love the podcast episodes throughout because it feels like a real true crime podcast mystery. I had no idea who did it even up until the end. I will highly recommend this book!
Thanks to NetGalley and Celadon Books for the ARC.

Happy Pub Day to Amy Tintera and her novel LISTEN FOR THE LIE! This was a wild ride and kept me guessing until the very end.
Lucy doesn’t remember anything from the night her best friend, Savvy, is murdered including why she is found dirty and with Savvy’s blood on her clothing. Lucy has also been injured and a head injury prevents her from knowing what really happened. Now she’s back in her hometown for her grandma’s birthday and podcaster Ben Owens is on the hunt for an interview with her. Will Ben uncover the truth that proves Lucy’s innocence or will he be the one to finally prove she murdered her best friend?
Lucy is snarky and a strong character— clearly taking after her grandma and they were my favorites in the book. Her head injury and amnesia makes her unreliable but I couldn’t help but like her and trust her. There are so many other suspects too that will keep you guessing until the end.
I mostly listened to this one on audio and it was absolutely fantastic with narrating duo January LaVoy and Will Damron. They truly give everyone a unique voice making it feel like a full cast. Absolutely recommend listening but if that’s not your thing, reading with your eyes will also be enjoyable too. This book is just great!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks to @macmillan.audio and @celadonbooks for these galleys! Listen for the Lie is available today at your local bookstore, online store, or @bookofthemonth. Congratulations to @amytintera on this fantastic thriller! I highly recommend it!

This is a story about assumptions.
This book absolutely got me out of a slump with its pace & multi media format (10/10 for the audio @macmillan.audio!). I loved the twists, and that FOR ONCE when it described something a therapist recommended it was *actually* what I would recommend as a therapist. If you enjoy a good, unpredictable thriller with a touch of humor- this is excellent!
Thank you so much Netgalley & Celadon Books for the eArc!

This was such a great listen!! I did a combo of reading and listening and I strongly suggest listening to it. This is a story of murder and somehow I laughed put loud a lot. Murder and laughing out loud really don't go together unless you're listening to this one. A mix of podcast and novel. You'll never figure out the ending, at least I didn't. The narration was great. The first podcast music startled me, but I think by the end, I was prepared and grew to enjoy knowing where we were going in the story. Make sure you pick this one up and give it a listen, or at least read it.

Happy Pub Day to Listen to the Lie by Amy Tintera. What an amazing day for this book. Picked as a Good Morning America book pick and 5 stars everywhere I look. This was 5 stars from me as well. It’s been a while since I read a thriller with one POV and the perfect choice for this book. Lucy is a character that I won’t be forgetting any time soon. She’s sarcastic, biting and the most interesting character to get to the root of. The mystery itself is strong and I was anxiously waiting for answers. I thought I had figured it out but I was wrong, which I love. I am posting this on @celadonbooks little free library day but I had to post how I much loved this without waiting. I recommend this for everyone who loves a good mystery with a dark side.

Thank you to @netgalley and @celadonbooks for providing me a digital reviewer copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5/5) I've been seeing this book everywhere, and in my opinion it's for good reason! Lucy Chase is returning to her small Texas hometown after being away for years. She has just lost her job and boyfriend due to a new true crime podcast "Listen for the Lie" putting the spotlight on her being accused of killing her best friend. The whole town thinks she's guilty, and Lucy herself may even believe it since she has no memory of that fateful night. She agrees to be interviewed for the podcast because she wants to discover the truth about that night, whether it confirms her guilt or finally uncovers the killer.
Add this to your TBR if you're looking for a unique fast-paced twisty thriller. The format is part Lucy's POV and part podcast broadcast and I really loved that. I've been a huge fan of books with mixed media since None of This is True. I think this would be really fun as an audiobook too. This was the author's first novel for adults so I'm really excited to see what's next from her.

This book is so amazing that I couldn’t put it down and never wanted it to end!!!! 5/5 🌟 Go and grab yourself a copy right now!! Thank you @amytintera for such an amazing adventure! Also, thank you @netgalley and @celadonbooks for the advanced readers copy!

LISTEN FOR THE LIE, by Amy Tintera, is sure to be one of the best books of the year. Savannah, nicknamed Savvy, was murdered. Her best friend Lucy was found wandering down the road covered in Savvy’s blood with no memory of what happened. Lucy is pronounced guilty in the public’s eye, but she is never formally charged by the police.
Five years later, Ben Owens, a hotshot, slightly egotistical, and good-looking podcaster arrives in town and starts digging into the murder mystery. Cue the beginning of a poop-storm that turns Lucy’s life upside down.
The story is told mainly from the first-person point of view of Lucy. What a character—snarky, dark, and sarcastic. Between the chapters are podcast interviews, allowing the residents of Plumpton to give their opinions on the mystery.
This is the author’s debut adult novel. Her writing is artfully descriptive with the dialogue written so clearly that the reader instinctively knows who is speaking. My favorite parts included the heroine’s lines, her tone and her inner thoughts, both smart and sarcastic. Every character is developed perfectly, and yet each one flawed. Wait until you meet Grandma Beverly, a quick-witted, opinionated, manipulative, and truly loveable old sister.
The pacing is quick and the twists never stop coming. This one deserves 5 stars, and I cannot lie.

“After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.
But now the phenomenally huge hit true crime podcast “Listen for the Lie,” and its too-good looking host Ben Owens, have decided to investigate Savvy’s murder for the show’s second season. “
🎙️true crime, mystery and podcast? Yes, please.
Everybody here is an unreliable narrator and equally guilty until proven otherwise. Fast paced, entertaining, jumping from real life to podcast live mode. Hilarious, sarcastic, dark and witty, Lucy will kept you wondering and even questioning your own mind. Who killed her friend and why?
This audio was a delight! 5⭐️🎙️ for the narration, great pace and sounds effects. @januarylavoy @jwdamron absolutely brought this book to live!
Thank you @macmillan.audio @netgally @celadonbooks for sending amazing copies like this one.

True crime podcaster helps Lucy get to the bottom of her friend Savvy's murder when he conducts his own investigation. People around town think Lucy had something to do with the murder, but did she? She can't remember.
Listen for the Lie was so good! Definitely an edge of your seat kind of thriller--kept me turning pages to see what happened next. This story unfolded through Lucy's point of view as well as the Listen for the Lie podcast. There were so many new details discovered through the podcasters investigation--SO MANY TWISTS. I highly recommend Listen for the Lie to anyone seeking a suspenseful mystery!

Thank you to Netgalley and Celadon Books for the e-ARC!
When Lucy is found wandering the streets covered in her best friend's blood, with no memory of what happened, people assume the worst. With too little evidence, no charges were ever brought against her, but the court of public opinion in her small town has made up their mind.
Years later, the case is thrown into the spotlight again when a popular podcaster, Ben Owens, highlights the murder in his true crime podcast. Lucy returns to her hometown for her grandma's birthday celebration, just in time to coincide with secrets from years past being exposed.
After seeing this all over Bookstagram, I headed to Netgalley to see if I could get approved for an ARC, and it showed up as a "Read Now". So I grabbed it and immediately texted 2 friends and forced them to buddy read with me.
This was an exciting page-turner, and I couldn't wait to find out what happened. Everybody was a suspect at one point! While I read the e-book of this, I think it would make a phenomenal audiobook. I loved the podcast segments, and the things the revealed.
The only reason this wasn't a 5-star read for me was because I didn't love the ending. Feel free to message me to discuss the ending if you've read it, but I don't want to say anything even slightly resembling a spoiler. Still a solid 4.5 star read, and I'd highly recommend picking this one up!

This was a solid suspense novel that had me guessing until the end, which was precisely what I was in the mood for. The narrator, a young woman, had been present during the murder of her best friend. She was a suspect in the murder but the police could never prove it. It was widely believed that she committed the murder, even though she was never convicted. A true crime podcaster begins a series about this unsolved murder. The narrator sustained injuries during the event and could not remember what happened. The narrator is what I would call an unreliable narrator. It was hard to tell how much of what she said was true and how much was not and she delivered her view of what happened to the best of her ability (given her lack of memory) as well as her own takes on the world and her circumstances and other peoples' perceptions of her with humor. I did find her voice funny though there were times that I did get a little irritated with her. My favorite character was her grandmother, a hip little old lady who accepted her granddaughter and who was convinced of her innocence when most people, including others in the family did not. I would love to see a spin off novel or sequel that focuses on her.
If you are looking for a quick suspense novel with a side of humor, this is the book for you.
Thanks to NetGalley and Celadon Books for giving me the opportunity to read this book before its publication date.

Thank you Celadon and NetGalley for my copy. I really liked the set up.of this book. We got Lucy's point of view and we got a look into Ben's podcast. There were a couple things throughout the book that i didn't see coming. If true crime or podcasts are an interest of yours read this.

This one has it all - I was hooked from the first page and kept looking forward to picking it back up again. I found myself laughing out loud at parts, which is not something I usually do while reading thrillers. 😂
I thought the mystery was well thought out and delivered at just the right pace to keep you wanting more. The end was satisfying, it surprised me enough but didn’t feel unreasonable.
Thank you to NetGalley and Celadon Books for the advanced copy!
