During a drunken night of anger, Daphne sends her manuscript to various publishers under a male pen name only to find herself trapped in the charade of Zane Remington, MFA with the help of sexy accountant Chris Stanton.

at first, I felt the story started off way too fast, but gradually warmed up to the pace and direction. The meet cute was hilariously, explosive, and made for a sizzling tension; too bad this is a 100% closed door romance.
I think the author did an amazing job highlighting the disparities between men and women in the publishing world. We have a long way to go for equality.
I recommend this to readers interested in the publishing and marketing side of books. This is also for the people out there who want to see the female experience and hardship and publishing.

I love Kelley Armstrong so I knew I was going to read this book when I saw it. I especially love that she writes such a diverse collection of books across lots of genres. I was not disappointed by this rom-com by her. I will admit the love interest took me a minute to really like, but once I fell I fell hard (much like our heroine). Daphne has written a book that she canโt sell and she has an idea she runs by her friend Nia who is an attorney. Daphne uses a male pseudonym and Nia finds her a man who needs Niaโs help to play โZaneโ for a couple of author shots. But a couple of photos turns into pure chaos as Daphneโs book becomes a hit. And despite them living in completely different areas sparks are flying between Chris and Daphne. This book was a fun read that I devoured. Also, I would love to see Daphneโs book written, I think Kelley Armstrong could do it justice.

Thank you Forever and NetGalley for the copy of this book!
I absolutely adored this romance novel. Books about books canโt be beat and this one takes the cake. Immediately after meeting Chris and Daphne, I was sucked in.
What lengths would you go through to have your novel published into the world? Would you take on a pseudonym? Would you hire a man to be the author of your book so the publishing world would actually look at it? That is precisely what happens in Finding Mr. Write, a novel about a woman persevering in a manโs world to get her published writing into readersโ hands. Did I mention heโs falling for herโฆ

3.5 Stars
Alright so as a reader Iโm trying to read more romance, branch out and I saw Finding Mr. Write by one of my all time favourite authors Kelley Armstrong and knew I had to read it. (I have met Kelley once in Calgary and she signed every book of hers that I owned ahah like 20 books, sheโs a rockstar). Anyways, I like the premise of this story but for some reason it fell short for me and I canโt quite put my finger on it. I understand why Daphne did what she did, makes perfect sense to me. I appreciated Chris, heโs a stand up guy. I actually also enjoyed Sakura, she was interesting. Same with Chrisโ sister, she had her own story going on. My main gripe with characters was Robbie, like maybe Iโm jaded but I actually wanted him to do something, or us to find out he is a creep, stalker something. Like he role wasnโt hashed out enough I needed more. Hell I even liked Lawrence.
I did find the sexy/ love was a bit slow which is fine but it went from like 0-100 when it did happen ahha. I enjoyed those scenes. Also Kelley please actually write Edge! Iโd grab it ahhaha.
I would recommend this read because I think it was just me.
Thank you to Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) For the copy.

This book is so adorable, I seriously loved everything about it. It is filled with humor, and I love the main characters, Chris and Daphne. Itโs such an interesting and fun concept - A female author of a sci-fi zombie apocalypse novel keeps getting rejected, so she creates a male pen name. When the book sells, she has to hire someone to be her book cover model. When her book becomes a huge success, things get a little tricky.
It is smartly written, and in third person dual POV. Itโs hard to believe this is Kelley Armstrongโs first rom-com (not her first book, but the first in this genre). I hope she writes more! Living in the Adirondacks, we have all sorts of wildlife around, so I could relate a little to the encounters that occurred, with Daphne living in the Yukon. The love story between Daphne and Chris is also very entertaining, from their meet cute to everything else that follows. Chris is so sweet and hilarious, although maybe not the best decision maker. Daphne is independent, They worked so well together and had the best chemistry.
Thank you Forever Pub and NetGalley for a copy of this eARC!

I liked the premise of this book a lot, and it was mostly a cute story, but for some reason the characters just felt flat for me. Neither of the leads came across as realistic, fully developed people and their relationship lacked the sense of connection that I look for in a romance. Limited spice, but what there is very spicy

Finding Mr. Write is the perfect fun, light romantic read for the summer. Both Daphne and Chris are very likeable characters, and their romance was cute, but it also felt kind of rushed. I would have liked to see more development in their relationship, some more chemistry. Yes they both thought the other was hot, and both were charming and nice, but it felt like there needed to be more there.
The writing was very engaging, especially at the beginning, however somewhere towards the middle the story just started to fall a little flat for me. I was still enjoying the book and having a good time, but once the book tour started, my interest starting waning a tad. I'm personally not a fan of the miscommunication trope, and I don't want to to give spoilers, but I felt a lot what was going on was overly dramatic and not as big a deal as the characters thought. The resolution to the big conflict at the end also fell sort of flat for me and I wish it had been handled differently.
Overall this book was a good time! Chris especially got a few laughs out of me. I'd recommend if you're looking for a fast, fun read.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

It's no secret that I love Kelley Armstrong's novels. I eat them up like they are nourishment for my soul. I have always enjoyed that she is able to sprinkle romantic and comedic bits throughout her novels regardless of genre. She just does it so well, it never seems forced or contrived. She came up with an idea and decided to go all in and write her first full-blown rom-com, and I knew I had to read it! Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! I truly hope this is just the beginning of her foray into the rom-com genre. Kelley Armstrong is a master at world building and dialogue, and this was no exception. Daphne is a writer, but she's unable to sell her novel until she decides to use the pseudonym Zane Remington. It not only sells, but there is a bidding war over it. Proof that publishing is still a man's world. But now that she's done it, how does she do speaking events or book signings? Time to hire a man to play the role of Zane. Enter Chris Stanton, account. Let's just say the plan isn't as simple as it sounds and what ensues is part comedy, part spicy, with some anger thrown in. You also get an inside peak at the publishing world, and a taste of what it might be like to be an author. I absolutely loved it, gobbling it up in no time at all. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

I adored Finding Mr. Write by Kelley Armstrong!
Such a fun romantic comedy!
Iโve been a major fan of KA and this book came as no surprise! I instantly fell in love! And wish she would create more stories like this one.
This was a great book. I connected with the characters. I felt engrossed with the plot.
Thank You NetGalley and Forever for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have been a Kelley Armstrong fan starting with Bitten. I have enjoyed most of her books, including the YA, her foray into horror, and now a rom-com.
I really liked it. I found the premise interesting, A female author resubmitting her book with a male pen name and getting a book deal, then having to figure out how to continue the charade. She ends up hiring her best friendโs accountant, who she thinks is an actor. Hilarity ensues.
You also have the beautiful setting of the Yukon for most of the book and an amazing dog. Along with the dilemma of irritation that the book sold with a male pen name, is the authorโs disconnect between wanting to keep her privacy and not be a public figure while still wanting to see people enjoy what she wrote. It makes me wonder how many authors hate the โmarketingโ part of the job.
Solid summer read!
Thank you to NetGalley, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and Kelley Armstrong for the eARC.

First off thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for this ARC.
This book wasn't for me. I was drawn in by the premise, which I think is really interesting and had great potential. I love the idea of exploring the publishing industry from a females POV and the struggles women face within the industry, plus the cover is so so cute!
My issue with this book isn't the writing but the plot. Yes, Daphne hires a man (Chris) to play the role of her author pseudonym (Zane) for the press release/promotion of her book. Cool, I get that. Love it. What I don't understand is why Chris felt the need to not only play Zane but to also play a fake Chris (it confusing). It was Chris Stanton playing Chris Aimsworth playing Zane Remington. WHY?? It just came off way too cheesy, unrealistic, weird, and childish. It just felt unnecessary and I couldn't understand this decision. For me it became awkward to read.

Kelley Armstrongโs work will forever have a special place in my heart. I remember reading The Summoning right after high school and falling in love back with reading. I was literally in shock when I got approved to read Finding Mr. Write. I absolutely loved it from start to finish. I know it was very different from The Darkest Powers trilogy but I loved everything about it. This story was fun and easy to read especially because I loved the characters and the romance. Thank you so much to the Publisher and NetGalley for giving me this amazing opportunity.

Kelley Armstrong is one of my favorite authors so when I found out she had written a romantic comedy, I knew it would be just as wonderful as everything else Iโve read of hers.
Finding Mr. Write follows Daphne McFadden who, tired of rejection, submits her manuscript under a manโs name. When it sells at auction, she hires an actor to play the role of Zane Remington.
Chris Stanton may look the part of a survivalist but heโs secretly an accountant who has no idea how to even chop wood. Sparks fly when they have to pretend her home in the Yukon belongs to him and things really heat up once the book tour begins.
This is funny and charming and has such an interesting premise. The second I started reading, I was hooked.
I absolutely adored Daphne and Chris. They have excellent chemistry and tons of hilarious banter -which is a necessity when it comes to rom-coms. I was rooting for them from the very beginning and I loved that itโs dual POV.
I enjoyed the Yukon setting, the glimpse into the publishing world and of course, Daphneโs dog Tika.
I definitely recommend picking this up if youโre looking for a delightfully cute, fun rom-com!

3/5 - This was cute! I liked the premise - architect turned unpublished writer resubmits her book with a male pen name, gets a huge book deal and has to use a male actor (well, her friends accountant posing as an actor) for photos and appearances. Lots of miscommunication, mutual attraction etc etc.
Sadly the pace was off for me and the story didnโt really pull me in. I liked the characters but didnโt LOVE them, and they both had an odd internal mocking voice that I found off putting. I did like that I got both perspectives though - love a dual POV! - and the setting in the first half of the book was lovely.
Thank you to @netgalley, Grand Central Publishing and Kelley Armstrong for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Out now!

Daphne is having hard time getting a publisher to give her book a chance. On a whim, she decides to give herself a pen nameโa maleโs name. And what do you know, a bidding war begins. Now the problem is, her book is doing so well that the publisher wants her to go on tour. So she hires someone to play the part of author Zane Remington. Enter Chris.
Can they keep up with the high-stakes ruse? Itโs only a matter of time before things start getting complicated. Not only are their facades starting to fall, but so are their hearts!
Overall, this was a fun one. I enjoyed all the banter, the book tour, and all the flirting in between. I also appreciated how the author portrayed all the difficulties and realities women face in the professional worldโpublishing, in this case.

This book was so stinking cute!! Was truly just such a fun ride and had me either giggling or shaking my head nearly the entire way through. The hole that these two MCs dug themselves into and had to crawl out of was impressive haha. I loved them together so much! So if you want a lighthearted rom-com this summer, this book will be perfect for you! It does touch on some deeper things as well, hello misogyny in the publication world (and in general) that I really appreciated as well.
This one follows the story of Daphne and Chris. Daphne is an author who is utterly sick of her book not being taken seriously so submits it under a male pen name, and what do ya know? It sells. But then she finds herself in a pickle so her friend finds Chris, an hunky accountant, to be an actor for Daphne. Chris (whoโs adorable) pretends heโs this douchey actor guy in order to get the job to pretend to be author Zane. Daphne doesnโt know heโs actually an accountant. What could possibly go wrong, right? Especially when the book takes off and becomes a NYT number one best seller and they are both deeply attached to each other! Let the chaos ensue ๐

Finding Mr. Write by Kelley Armstrong
โโฆwhat do I know? Iโm just the best friend of a writer who tried damned hard to get anyone to look at her amazing book, and then as soon as she put a guyโs name on it, she got a half-million-dollar deal.
Sheer coincidence, Iโm sure.โ

First off, this ARC was sent to me by @grandcentralpub and @readforeverpub in exchange for an honest review.
Okay. Now letโs address the elephant in the room, yes you did read my rating correctly. I did rate this rom-com five stars and there are a number of reasons.
1. It is by my favourite author @kelleyarmstrongauthor so you know Iโm going to love it.
2. This is not your standard miscommunication rom-com where both parties are being dumb and donโt talk to each other. Itโs such a breath of fresh air.
3. Armstrong makes you feel all of the emotions. I laughed, I cried, I huffed in exasperation, and swooned.
4. We have social commentary about misogyny in the publishing industry and it was a major theme. Plus it does address the obstacles that BIPOC authors face and the privilege that white authors have, particularly white men.
5. I also liked how it shines a light on how much work agents, publicists and editors do for the books we love as well.
If you are a fan of Rom-Coms this one is a must read! I loved it!

This was not my favorite book. I typically love writer centric stories and prose but this was not it. Ms. Armstrong wrote a weak story and I did not love it. But I did finish it.

What an absolutely fun read, the plot, the characters, just so much fun! Daphne McFadden was tired of trying to get someone to take her book seriously. Was the fact that the book, a young adult fiction, that dealt with her own experiences in the wilderness, i.e. hiking, shooting, using a cross bow, could not be written by a female? So, she submits her book using the pen name Zane Remington. She never expected the immediate interest in the book, so when publishers are actually bidding on her book, she panics. She decides to find an actor to be Zane. Chris Stanton, an accountant, yes, an accountant, learns that his partner at the firm, has been stealing and has ruined their businessโฆhe needs money! He had done some minor acting, but is he capable of being Zane? The texts between Daphne and Chris โaka Zaneโ are hysterical and the slow buildup of feelings between them, beautiful. What a ride, but what happens when the ride is over? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
