5 ⭐️ I LOVE Kelley Armstrong and have read every book she has published. But when I think Kelley, I think suspense, supernatural, not rom-com. So, I had to read Finding Mr. Write to see if she could pull it off. YES she can (not really surprised).

Thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for allowing me access to this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Daphne McFadden is trying to get published, but unfortunately that isn’t as easy to do as she hoped. In a last ditch attempt, she submits her book using a man’s name and it is a huge hit! However, how does one pose as a man when trapped in a woman’s body? She hires one, of course! In walks Zane Remington (formerly known as Chris Stanton) to sign the book deal. However, soon the book is a bigger success than she expected and book tours and signing ensue. Sexy Accountant Chris is getting more than he expected as they take to the road together in this hilarious and witty rom-com.

I loved that this book allowed the characters to develop naturally while not making the reader feel as if you were stuck in a time warp never escape. A definite must read for everyone who loves a good rom-com and/or Kelley Armstrong fans everywhere! ❤️❤️❤️

Daphne McFadden is an architect who lives in the Yukon with her dog, Tika. Daphne loves to write and has always been passionate about sharing her stories with the people she loves. She would love nothing more than to publish a book, but she doesn't really want to give up her quiet, private life either. After being rejected dozens of times, Daphne has a little bit too much wine to drink and decides to send her book off to several publishers under a pen name. She drunkenly thinks to herself that if she were a man, she probably wouldn't have as much trouble finding someone who would want to publish her book. Well, fortunately and unfortunately, she was right. After describing herself as an "outdoorsy, hunk of masculinity" named Zane Remington, her book has entered a bidding war, a huge book deal and the kind of publicity every author dreams of. Sadly, for her, she is none of the things she described in her author's bio. She turns to a friend for help and decides to hire an "actor" to portray her for the press. They figure he will only need to pose for some photos and maybe do some phone interviews before things die down a little bit. Right? Wrong! Also, the man she hired to play Zane Remington isn't really an actor, he's an accountant and he feels bad about stealing Daphne's limelight. How on earth are they going to navigate the mess they've gotten themselves into?

I really loved getting to learn some of the inner thoughts and feelings of the two main characters as they navigate their complicated feelings for one another. Read this if you enjoy a slow burn, dual POV, he falls first and rom-com antics.

Kelley Armstrong is an all time favourite author, Her writing feels like coming home and this book is no different! This book is everything you want in a rom-com and more. Daphne and Chris melted my heart... As a fellow Canadian, this books makes my want to travel to the Yukon and live in the middle of nowhere. All in all, I 10000% recommend this book for someone looking for a light hearted, fun read!

Romantic comedy is not what I usually read by Kelley Armstrong. But as usual she does an amazing job. Finding Mr. Write is an adorable romcom with a serious subplot. Chris had me rolling with his over the top performance as Zane and I empathized so much with Daphne. This book left me with a wide smile.

This book was so cute and a different twist from what Kelley Armstrong normally writes! I personally have never read her other books, but apparently this is WAY out of her element - and she nailed it!

This story takes you on a journey that is so realistic it hurts. From realistic characters, plot line, love story, and even a puppy to love, this book had it all. I really enjoyed how easy it was to read, the banter between the characters, and even the small details that the author put into this book.

I love a good texting conversation, the attempt at the romantic chase (but realistically fails), and how honest the main characters emotions are.

The honesty on anxiety, misogyny, and gender biases in the work place are REAL!!

After reading - I'm so excited to read some of Kelley's other work.

The premise sounded so good!
The meet cute did not disappoint haha!!
The MC is a fantastic cinnamon roll trying to be a jerk which made for some interesting scenes.
I tend to lose interest once the main characters actually get their act together and are together. That’s how this was for me. Yes, there was still a whole story line about her book and the struggle of when and how to reveal the real author. But to be honest, I came for the meet cute and the love story and was more focused on their relationship than her book. So for me it felt like it slowed down a bit in the middle-ish. But overall it was good and entertaining. :)

I loved it! This is my favorite author! Anything and everything she writes is gold. In this she's actually writing about a new writer. It's not easy getting your foot in the door but D finds a way under an alter ego. Obviously, in this day and age you can't hide for long which D and Zane quickly discover. Their banter is so funny! They think they're on the same page but not quite. They are perfect for each other!

I was able to get a copy of this ARC and I loved it from start to finish. It was a different story than I've read before and the characters were so likable! A fun and easy to read romantic comedy with witty and unique characters.

This was my first read by this author and I had no idea this wasn't their normal genre, that's how easy this read was.

My only critique is that the MMC seemed to fall right away (via texting it seemed like). I would have preferred a little more lead up to that.

Overall 4/5 stars

Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I felt like some parts were drug out a bit/slow, but overall this was a quick and fun read for me.

I liked the premise of this book because I do not think it is talked about enough why so many women either currently write under a male pen name, or have in history.

I loved Chris, I thought he was so sweet, funny, and adorable.

Solid 4 star read, definite slow burn romance, not too spicy, and it was a quick read.

Daphne is tired of getting rejected by agents for the book she's querying, especially because she thinks she'd have no trouble selling it if she were a man. So one night in a fit of exasperation she redoes her entire query, and resubmits--with a male penname. And lands an agent. And then a book deal. She's not ready to admit that the name (and part of the backstory) she gave her agent and publisher are an alias, so with the help of her lawyer friend, she hires an actor to pose as her.
The problem is, Chris isn't actually an actor. But he needs this job, and he's good at posing as Zane Remington. As he gets deeper into the role, he starts to fall for Daphne--but she doesn't know the truth about him.
The book--and "Zane"--proves incredibly successful, and a headshot and written interviews turn into video interviews and a book tour. Suddenly, both Daphne and Chris are in over their head.

Finding Mr. Write is absolutely absurd, in the very best way. Reading it felt like I was watching a 00s romcom in terms of how fun the characters and story were. The concept itself was kind of ridiculous, but that's part of the fun. And Kelley Armstrong had me rooting for the characters and literally gasping AND laughing out loud throughout. I really loved this book, and will definitely be reading more from the author.

A cozy contemporary rom-com that from the first chapter addresses the bias women face in the publishing (or any other) field. A slow burn, where the reader comes to know both MC's were down to earth and relatable. Strong 4 starts! Add to you TBR List.

I don’t read rom-coms. Ever. But, when one of my favorite authors puts out a rom-com, I had to seize the opportunity to give it a try. ‘Finding Mr. Write” was a pure unexpected delight. Kelley Armstrong takes a sharp departure from her usual genre of fantasy and horror to tell the story of Daphne, a debut author with a Young Adult zombie novel that she has shopped to publisher after publisher with no bites ( pun intended). She decides that her best chance to get published would be to use a male pen name and, under the name of. Zane Hemingway, she gets a huge lucrative offer. The only problem is that the publisher wants to put a face to Zane Hemingway. Enter Chris Dtanton, an accountant who was in desperate need of cash and was recommended to play the role of Zane by their mutual friend, Nia.

Daphne has made a life for herself somewhat off the beaten path in the Yukon and hires Chris to play the role of Zane for publicity. What ensues is the typical back and forth of when will they realize what the reader knows from the first few chapters, but it’s the fun of getting there that makes this book a good read. Kelley Armstrong has a way with dialogue that is easy to read; the characters are well thought out and keeps the reader’s interest in getting to the end. Thank you to the author ( who remains one of my favorites) and to Hatchette Book Group for the advanced copy in return for my honest opinion.

I was so excited to read Kelley's first romance novel, and it did not disappoint!

Daphne McFadden is a newbie author, living out her dreams in the Yukon. When she sends her manuscript to an agent while pretending to be a man, she is shocked to have the book picked up! In order to keep up the ruse, Daphne hires Chris Ainsworth (aka Chris Stanton) to play the role of her male alter-ego, Zane Remington.
What follows is a delightful adventure into the world of publishing, writing, and promoting while Daphne attempts to navigate her books unexpected popularity, her initial dislike of Chris, and both of their growing attraction for each other.

This book felt filled with hidden gems for Kelley's fans, but that would read as interesting plot points for readers new to this author. The character interactions were genuine, and miscommunication was used as trope without hitting the usual pitfalls that would make me want to scream. I also enjoyed the other authors Daphne and Chris interacted with, some of which I felt confident I knew who they were based on.
Overall, this is a great read and I highly recommend it to fans of romance books, Kelley's writing, or both. 4.5 Stars.

Other things I liked:
- Recognition of the Indigenous peoples belonging to the books setting
- Realistic fears, anxieties, and coping methods from both main characters
- Addressed topics such as misogyny, and BIPOC representation in writing without taking the reader out of the story

Thanks to NetGalley, Kelley Armstrong, and Forever Publishing for the early access copy of Finding Mr. Write.

The story follows our lead Daphne who gets herself into a bind after submitting her book under a male name pen name to publishers out of frustration. When the book is accepted, she must now find a way to create her pen names persona. In comes Chris, who is a sweetheart love interest.

The story was interesting and was a quick read. However, I did find myself struggling with connecting to the characters at times and was frustrated by the third act argument.

Finding Mr. Write has a determined female lead, golden retriever male lead, fake dating trope, and interesting settings like the Yukon.

Finding Mr. Write is a sweet, predictable read. It’s well written but nothing was new or noteworthy. There was way too much introspection by the main characters. This is a nice, quick read if you have nothing better to do.

Finding Mr. Write brings us Daphne McFadden, an author looking for her big break. I order to bring more attention to her writing, she decides to release her new book under a male pseudonym and hire a man to fill the role publicly. She is shocked by how much more attention her writing receives when everyone thinks it is written by a hunky man. So much attention that it isn't enough for Chris to occasionally act as the author in public, he has to move into Daphne's house as the media has decided to camp outside. Daphne and Chris must navigate their newly found fame as well as their mutual attraction all while trying to keep their secret. A cute, close proximity romance with a HEA.

I almost DNF’d this book. I just think the plot and problems for the FMC & MMC just didn’t resonate with me. I couldn’t understand why Chris has to adopt this persona for Daphne. I couldn’t see why Daphne and Nia couldn’t have a plan in place if they were discovered beforehand. The whole time while reading this book i kept thinking is this REALLY how someone would handle this situation.

This book was perfect for getting me through a hard week. I loved escaping to Yukon with the characters. The writer did an amazing job with making me feel like I was actually in the Yukon, on the lake, etc. The characters were perfection. Such a unique storyline that highlights some hard topics. Overall loved this boon. Will be recommending to everyone I know.

Man, I had a wonderful time reading this book! I love her writing so much, and this was her first rom-com, and I was so excited to read it. The whole premise sounded fantastic, and boy, it was just a delight to read, I loved every word!

There's a part of Daphne that was worried that her fans would turn against her if they found out that she was the one that wrote the book, and published it under a male name. Which, speaking of as an avid book reader and lover, I wouldn't mind on her side, but be mad at the publishing side, that conditions were set up that made this a more proven route to getting her book published. Because what author, if they want to make a career out of it instead of just a hobby, wouldn't want their typical book to sell?

This is a rom-com, so the fact that he puts on the act of how he thinks Daphne would want Zane to act, which makes him not the most likable character, but bits of his true self keep slipping out, making for some really great interactions like that!

I really enjoyed seeing how they dealt with everything that came their way, with the success of the book, the media, the tour, an unpleasant neighbour, and all that attention, as well as the truth, and the way the publishing industry works. It all just made for a really compelling story, and I loved how it worked out!

I had such a fun time reading this book and I can't wait to read more by Kelley Armstrong!

This was a fun book! Daphne has written a book but has had trouble getting a deal for it to be published. On a whim, she submits a manuscript using a fake name…a man’s name. Surprise, people want to buy it now. But she has a problem. She needs someone to be the face of the pseudonym.

Enter…Chris who gets roped into this in order to get legal counsel for himself. He puts on a bit of fake role to Daphne, but that doesn’t last long as he gets to know her.

I really enjoyed the premise of this book. It’s frustrating that Daphne felt like she had no other choice than to have her book published under a fake name, but at least it all worked out in the end.

Thanks as always to NetGalley for the ARC.
