I am a huge fan of Kelley Armstrong (Cainsville and Rockton are two of my favourite series of all time), so when I saw that she wrote a rom-com, I immediately wanted to read it! I loved this book and once I started, I did not put it down and finished it in a day..

I will admit, I was a bit skeptical about this book while reading the first chapter - the book starts very abruptly and dives straight into the main storyline with no preamble - which was a bit jarring. However, the book quickly found its groove and the alternating POVs kept me engaged.

As for the characters, Zane is pretentious and the epitome of the ick, whereas Chris and Daphne are both flawed but loveable.

Similar to the Rockton series, after reading this book I have a strong urge to go live off-grid in the Yukon , where Daphne lives in this book.

This was super cute and not too much spice (there was some, but nothing too over the top). I’ll give this 4.5/5⭐️

Love the romance... Kelley Armstrong is a seasoned writer and it really shows. All her books have a little romance in it so it's not surprising that this romance is so well-written. Love the characters especially. Love how relatable it is to woman who has to struggle in a man's world career-wise. Pretty sure that most women can relate even if they aren't writers.

That’s where Chris comes in. Recommended by Daphne’s best friend, Chris is hired to act as Zane Remington. A task that becomes more challenging with the growing popularity of Daphne’s book. Simple interviews turn into day long shoots and book tours. Daphne and Chris have to work together to maintain Zane’s facade with the press and publishers. With the book’s growing popularity Daphne struggles with the lack of recognition for her work. Though she couldn’t have hired a better person to play Zane. Attraction grows as Daphne and Chris are forced together on a book tour that should be showcasing Daphne. Will Daphne and Chris find love along the way? Will Daphne find the courage to step into the limelight?

This was a very sweet slow burn. Chris has a golden retriever personality that most women want and Daphne is an independent queen. I will say some of the dialogue was a little awkward and I would’ve liked to see a little more romance and a little less publishing/book plot. But there were many scenes that made me literally laugh out loud! If you like slow burn romances with extra cheese and very sweet dorky men - this is the book for you!

In Finding Mr. Write by Kelley Armstrong, author Daphne, in desperation to get her book published, changes the name on her submission from her name to a man's name - and surprise, it worked and the book does very well.

This is definitely a rom-com and I enjoyed the banter and the way the relationship between Daphne and Chris, the man hired to portray the "author" of the book develops.

There are mess ups along the way in their relationship and they try and fix them in mature and normal ways that make the characters relatable and likeable.

It is really sad that there are tons of women authors who have to do this kind of thing in real life, but I'm glad that Ms. Armstrong was able to make this book funny in the bullshittery of real situations. I really enjoyed this book.

This book would make a perfect Hallmark movie - and if you’re a fan of rom-coms, you know that’s a compliment!

While I love how direct the book starts out with jumping two feet in, I will say this doesn’t feel like a rom-com until probably 30% in. Daphne, our protagonist, got herself in a bit of trouble. She couldn’t sell her book as a female so she put it under a male pen name and it did great. Typical, I know. I love books about authors and it felt a bit until Daphne actually felt like one. When she’s acting as hired help to support the ruse of her book being written by a male, she FEELS like that to readers. She doesn’t feel like the kickass author she actually is. There’s real character development for both her and Chris, which is loved.

I would say this book balances at a 3.5 for me. I’m harsh with stars, This book doesn’t have the immediate need to keep reading in the way an Emily Henry does but this book was so much fun and was realistic. I’m a huge Chris fan - he made a mistake at one point and while there was some real drama - he fixed it in a real way. There’s no “and you are the reason I exist” statements from him nor Daphne. No, instead, they bought feel real and their dialogue is quippy and fun. Oh, and the smut is well done.

If you wish Hallmark could come with a written version, grab this ASAP.

Having the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Finding Mr Write was a delight. Daphne’s story and her reasons for using a man’s name to submit her work was so very relatable. I loved her and Chris’ chemistry and where the story took them. The book had some great funny and light hearted moments and I really enjoyed a lot of the dialogue. Perfect beach read!

Finding Mr. Write is a funny, light and quick paced RomCom about a female author who, in an act of alcohol fueled desperation, changes her submission to a male author at a last attempt to her book published. This story brings to light a real world problem for all women, not just authors, in a non-confrontational way that allows for further thought and discussion. I enjoyed the sense of humor of the characters and entertaining circumstances but also loved that it left me with food for thought. Thank you #NetGalley for early access to Finding Mr. Write.
