A cute, fun, summer romcom! A fun slow burn to take to the beach. The characters were mostly well thought out but could use a bit more fleshing out. It was an enjoyable read!

Daphne has sold her book under a male pseudonym, the only problem is she has to find a guy to pretend to be him in order to authenticate Daphne’s author persona. Enter accountant Chris who agrees to do press and interviews after Daphne’s book hits number one. After a trip to visit Daphne in the Canadian Yukon, Chris learns there is much more to her than her rugged exterior. But will the pair be able to make it through the press tour without anyone finding out Daphne is the actual author? With the Canadian setting, a strong female protagonist and cinnamon role hero this book was an entertaining read!

I love everything Kelley Armstrong has ever written, and love how varied her books can be. This was a fun romance with a plot that was both silly and real at the same time, and I enjoyed every second.

Finding Mr. Write by Kelly Armstrong is a fun romantic comedy! Daphne McFadden decides that she is going to submit her newest book under a male pen name. She is completely surprised when it gets into a bidding war, they want to meet her and she needs a man to be the face of her pen name. Her friend Nora helps her find Chris Stanton and accountant who did some acting in high school to fill the role.
This is a slow-burn romance filled with great banter, humor, and engaging characters. I enjoyed this quick read, and was rooting for Chris and Daphne to find their happily every after. You have to love an account who looks better as he ages. I enjoyed the peek into the publishing industry and visiting the Yukon. It was a great read that made my July better.
I thoroughly enjoyed Finding Mr. Write by Kelly Armstrong and recommend this very fun read!
I was given a copy by the publisher and not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Cringy dialogue and unrealistic circumstances. There is no way that people would have believed the charade for as long as they did. Characters were completely unrealistic and there was not enough backstory on any of them to make me actually care about their ending.

Great story, I like the feminist edge to it. The characters were likeable and realistic. But sometimes too realistic and frustrating, it took me a while to get into the story as the beginning felt a little drawn out

I gave this book three stars. While I appreciated the storyline, I found the writing style to be a bit awkward at times. Additionally, the pacing felt too rapid, which made it challenging to fully immerse myself in the plot and connect with the characters.

Thanks to Forever and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC. Here are my honest thoughts!!
Hopes were high with this book, but unfortunately those hopes were not met. I thought that the book sounded really interesting, and I was very excited to read it. However, this book dragged for me. I had a difficult time with the pacing of this book.
I also had a difficult time with the mass amount of miscommunication in this book. From constantly getting interrupted when they were trying to have an open and honest discussion about their relationship, to Daphne literally running away at the first sign of conflict. They worked it out eventually. But since they spent so much time not talking about their relationship, I couldn’t root for them at the end. I just didn’t care if they ended up together or not.
They had some sweet moments, and I loved how well they could read each other. It just wasn’t what it could’ve been.

This was a fun read - the main concept is that a female author who used a male pseudonym to publish is now required to go on tour and needs to hire a man to "be her" - the fallout from who she hires and how she feels about him follows her throughout the book. I enjoyed reading this but it also lagged a bit in the middle for me. The look at the publishing world and experience of being on a book tour (fictionally) was fun though and the ending was cute.

Kelley Armstrong has been an author I’ve read since I was in the middle school. I haven’t dabbled in fantasy/paranormal books as much lately so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that she wrote a contemporary romance! I was, unfortunately, let down.
I think being an avid romance reader with high expectations ruined my enjoyment.
The story started off strong. The plot felt very real and I liked how it played out. However, I was disappointed by the lack of chemistry I felt in the romance. The book wasn’t short, but I don’t feel like the relationship was fleshed out enough. It progressed too quickly and took away from the underlying message.
The characters also felt flat. I wish we had seen more of Chris as Zane and gotten more of the tension between him and Daphne. That would have spiced things up for when they finally did get together.
I think this is worth reading for the story’s setting and the author’s take on publishing. If you like romance and books about writing, this could really work for you.
Finding Mr. Write isn’t my favourite novel by Armstrong, but it won’t deter me from reading more from her in the future.

I always want to start my reviews by thanking the author and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book early. This was a pretty good book that I found myself interested in reading. It started a little slow for me, but it definitely picked up.

A fun romantic comedy about Daphne, an author, who is tired of her book not being taken seriously, so she submits it under a male pen name. Next thing she knows, the book is selling off the shelves leaving Daphne in a little bit of a situation. Daphne’s friend finds Chris, a sexy accountant, to be an actor for Daphne and be “the face of the book”, except the book becomes a number one best seller and Daphne is faced with not getting any credit for this fantastic book.
The story follows the attraction between these two and also her dilemma of what to do as a female author. This book was funny, down to earth and I loved that it was in a remote setting. The scenes are hilarious, especially the one where they go canoeing to show off their skills but Chris realizes Daphne can’t swim!
This book was so funny, I couldn't put it down. I also liked how the ending was wrapped up in a nice little bow. I hope this becomes a movie!

Finding Mr. Write is the perfect fun, light romantic read for the summer. Both Daphne and Chris are very likeable characters, and their romance was cute, but it also felt kind of rushed. I would have liked to see more development in their relationship, some more chemistry. Yes they both thought the other was hot, and both were charming and nice, but it felt like there needed to be more there.
The writing was very engaging, especially at the beginning, however somewhere towards the middle the story just started to fall a little flat for me. I was still enjoying the book and having a good time, but once the book tour started, my interest starting waning a tad. I'm personally not a fan of the miscommunication trope, and I don't want to to give spoilers, but I felt a lot what was going on was overly dramatic and not as big a deal as the characters thought. The resolution to the big conflict at the end also fell sort of flat for me and I wish it had been handled differently.

I had a hard time connecting with the characters in Finding Mr. Write and ended up not finishing so I will keep my review short. I loved the plot, it felt unique and that’s what made me want to read this one!! Thank you for the opportunity to read.

This was a super cute read! I liked the premise of the story - it was unique and an interesting conversation about sexism in traditional publishing. A female author posing as a male author to sell her novel, and then having to hire a male to pretend to be her, due to the insanely great sales. I’ve never read anything like it, so I really enjoyed this take. I also loved the snippets of the zombie novel the FMC wrote - it’s like a Russian nesting doll of stories. Maybe we can look for Theo’s story next??
The two main characters are wonderful(ly flawed). The build up and slow burn of FMC && MMC was great, and then they both acted like idiots…much like we all do in love. I found myself getting worked up over their screw ups, but it was real. It wasn’t like “in the movies,” something that Armstrong weaves into the story.
The little internal monologues for each the FMC and MMC were cute, too. Just like the voices each of us has…particularly when we do something stupid in front of our crush/partner/friend/etc.
I loved Armstrong’s writing style. It was accessible, but still sophisticated. While I was reading, I thought about the irony of a writer writing about a writer, and loved that thought. It turns out, per her Author’s Note, at the end, this story was inspired by a collection of conversations with other authors. Once I read the Author’s Note, it made a lot of sense.
Overall, this was a wonderful read, and I would absolutely recommend it!
I was gifted this arc from the publisher, for which I am very grateful!!

I have mixed feelings about this book. It was very easy to get through. The writing style was fast-paced and funny but there were a few stumbling blocks for me.
First, the romance came out of nowhere. One second it's a business agreement, the next second he's sending wildly flirty texts, next thing they're scared about how much they love each other. All of this without anything actually happening. They'd met in person once, and that didn't go well, so I could never figure out what the inciting incident for the romance was, other than they were both really hot people.
By the end, things starting unraveling. The 3rd act breakup was extremely contrived. The harkening back to an old boyfriend who had hurt her via a note didn't really work for me. There was so little time spent thinking about the backstory wound that I couldn't buy it when that's what the reader was sold as the reason for her excessive upset at the end. Also, it took nothing to get over so it couldn't have been that upsetting after all.
And one of the weirdest things of all, 99% of the book qualifies as a low spice read, until very abruptly it turns into graphic foreplay. The characters, who have been sweet and considerate people for the whole book, are suddenly getting really excited about pulling off sexual acts in public. Since when did these characters, who are very conscious that they're pulling off a worldwide deception anyway and out on a publicity tour, decide to throw caution to the wind and go for some oral sex in a parking lot while waiting for their driver to show up? It was very bizarre. Besides that, it was strange that we're getting very detailed foreplay description, but then when they actually have sex, that's closed door. It seemed like the spice level was sort of trying to please everyone, but that definitely failed.

4.5 stars! This was such a fun read! I loved both Chris and Daphne and the premise of the book was so unique! I personally love reading books about people writing/publishing books. I also found this to be a true rom-COM it was very funny and I was entertained from the first to the very last page

📚ARC Book Review📚
Finding Mr. Write by Kelley Armstrong
“I’m so sick of running as fast as I can. Wondering if I’d get there quicker if I was a man?”
⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Daphne just wanted to get her book published, but that proves to be difficult. So out of a whim of frustration she submits it under a man’s pseudonym…Zane Remington. Under this name Daphne’s book sky rockets into popularity, and now the publisher is looking to put a face to the name. Enter the help of Chris Stanton, the hired “actor” Daphne brings on to play Zane. Though Chris has some secrets of his own. Can these two work together to get through a book tour, or will their sparks burn down everything they worked for?
First thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!
I had mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand I liked the concept and found it refreshing. Especially because I love books about books/authors. On the other hand I felt that this book was drawn out and lacking in parts.
It was interesting to see how Kelley illustrated the publishing world with the discourse of sexism. Especially when it comes to merely a name and how far it can take you. Which clearly Daphne had realized when she attempted to submit the book the first time. I think Kelley was on to something when she wrote this storyline because as some other famous writers go *ahem* Taylor Swift, woman sometimes think they would get places faster and further if they were a man.
Overall, this book was cute but hard to get into at times. I found myself needing to take breaks and come back in order to finish. If you’re curious and want to give it a read Finding Mr. Write is available now!

I enjoyed the banter. between the MC . I have enjoyed this authors previous books and was really excited to see her write this title

This was a fun romance novel about a female author who chose to write under a male pseudonym in order to get her book published. After many failures, she figured she would have better luck as a man, and when it actually worked, she decided to hire a male to play the part for author signing and events.
I liked that this was a book about books and gave a little glimpse into the publishing world. It touched on how things do tend to be different for males and females. I also loved the vivid imagery and the Yukon setting.
The main characters were good, but I didn't connect to them as much as I wanted to. I did like them together. Their connection was a bit of a slow burn, but you could tell it was inevitable from the start. Overall, I was entertained while reading and I enjoyed it!
