This is the eighth book in this brilliant series featuring Special Agent Nikki Hunt. The book opens with the murder in 2001 of a family in their home, with the young son Matt being the only survivor. Fast forward to the present day and Nikki is called out to investigate the murder of two young women with a third one missing. What shocks her when she arrives at the scene is that the murders have taken place in the same house where the murders in 2001 took place. Nikki discovers that Matt now owns the house and rents it out as an Airbnb. Nikki feels for Matt as he is still haunted by the deaths of his parents. She realises that the unsolved case of the previous murders is now a famous Netflix documentary and that the missing girl Alexia was obsessed with the case. She had rented the Airbnb and invited her friends to stay the weekend and watch the documentary. As they start their investigations Nikki and her team realise that this is going to be a tough case as they try to discover whether the same killer is back or whether it is a copycat killer. The story was fast paced, with good characters and plenty of suspense that had me hooked from the first page. Another brilliant read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.
Wow, wow, wow! Bone Lake by Stacy Green is a phenomenal addition to the Nikki Hunt series, and it certainly lives up to the expectations set by its intriguing cover. This eighth installment delivers a riveting and suspenseful story that keeps you hooked from beginning to end.
The plot centers around a gruesome murder case that took place in a Victorian home two decades ago. Fast forward to the present day, and on the release day of a Netflix special documentary about the original murders, more people are found murdered in the same house. The intertwining of the old case with the new murders is masterfully done, creating a narrative that is both compelling and intricate.
Nikki Hunt shines as always, meticulously hunting down clues and interviewing victims and witnesses. Her determination and skill are on full display, making for an engaging read with not a dull moment in sight. The way Nikki navigates through the complexities of both the cold case and the current murders is fascinating, and the intersections between the two cases add layers of depth to the story.
The characters in this book are well-developed and feel real only adding to the intrigue of the unfolding mystery. The pacing is perfect, with suspense building steadily until the very end, where everything culminates in a satisfying resolution.
Overall, Bone Lake is an outstanding thriller that showcases Stacy Green's talent for crafting compelling, suspenseful stories. The book is filled with twists, engaging characters, and a plot that keeps you guessing. If you love a good mystery with a gripping storyline, you won't be disappointed with this latest Nikki Hunt adventure.
Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture and Stacy Green for the arc!
I didn't realise at first that this was the 8th book in a series and was a bit worried I might not catch on straight away. But the book was so totally absorbing, absolutely gripping, and had all the twists and turns of a great suspense thriller I felt I hadn't missed much. But now I do have to go and find books 1-7 for sure.
The suspense and tension kept me riveted and glued to the edge of my seat and I do like that in a good thrill. The characters fit well within the story and the plot and twists made this an excellent read. Loved it.
Thank you NetGalley and Booouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
This is the 8th book in the series. I did read this as a standalone. I couldn't put it down and it was predictable. Great book.
Number eight in the special Agent Nikki Hunt series
And these books keep getting better and better
Read in two sittings and I can’t wait for the next in this series
Thanks NetGalley

An interesting read with great characters. Nikki had her work cut out for her to find out who the killer was. Sometimes its not a good idea to go snooping in the past. Good ending.
It is a fantastic story, exhilarating plot, well developed characters, and a well executed shocking ending. I read in one day, unputdownable and very addictive. Recommend to every thriller reader.
I’m not sure I realised I was reading a book mid series but it’s made me want to go back to the start and read them all. Powerfully written and lots of characters to get your teeth into so I really loved it.
hmmm i enjoyed the story and was surprised at the killer hoever there were too many characters in this book for me and at times i found it diffocult too follow
.
FANTASTIC thriller with great characters & lots of suspense in a captivating police procedural. Highly RECOMMEND the full series for some first-rate reading. Thanks to #NetGalley#Bookouture for #BoneLake in return for my honest review.
Ok so you can never go Wrong with a Nikki Hunt book. I love her story and this one was no different. I am always excited for this series and can not wait to see where it goes.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
This is the 8th installment in the Nikki Hunt series, but can also be read as a standalone.
I have really enjoyed this series and was excited to be able to read this ARC. Stacy Green's books are always fast paced and have lots of twists and this one was no exception! I could not put this one down and it kept me up late at night! Looking forward to book 9 in this series!
4 stars!
I forgot I had this one on my kindle. I have read another series by this author but not this one, guess I should go back to book 1 and start over. The story stands alone though I know I'm missing character growth.
A murder from two decades ago was bungled by the authorities and a documentary is bringing other clues to life.
Another murder in the same house, is it connected or a coincidence. Nikki and her team are on the hunt for a missing girl. The bodies are piling up, why were they killed? Did they find out something?
I had no idea, the author did such a great job spinning my head. I really enjoyed watching the pieces fall into place, although there was a heart stopping moment at the end. Will they all come out of this alive?
Great story, I highly recommend it.
My thanks to Bookouture for an eARC via NetGalley of ‘Bone Lake’ by Stacy Green.
‘Bone Lake’ is Book 8 in Stacy Green’s series of crime thrillers featuring F.B.I. Special Agent Nikki Hunt, based in Minnesota.
This was my first experience of Green’s writing, though enough background was provided that I felt quite comfortable coming in at this point.
In 2001 Amy Kline and her parents were viciously murdered in their home. Only ten-year-old Matt Kline was able to escape. Now twenty years later with the case unsolved a Netflix true crime series has been produced. On the night that it airs Alexia Perry, a true crime enthusiast, has rented the Kline house, now an Airbnb, to watch with a group of friends.
The next morning the cleaners find a shocking scene and the F.B.I. is called in. There is blood everywhere and two young women are dead and a male friend seriously wounded. In addition, Alexia is missing. In the course of the investigation Nikki soon discovers that Matt Kline still owns the house. While he is naturally a person of interest, Nikki feels for him given that she too is a survivor. No further details to avoid spoilers.
This novel had me hooked from its opening and proved to be a page-turner with plenty of twists before the final reveal of whodunnit.
Overall, I found ‘Bone Lake’ an engaging FBI procedural that left me eager to read more of the series as well as future books.
4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
This has probably been my favourite of the series. Each book I like this series more. This book does a nice balance between the crime and the character personal life. I devour each book in this series.
Love this author and this incredible series. And this book is truly the best so far and that's saying something as every book by this author has been a five star read. Loved this one!

FBI Special Agent and criminal profiler Nikki Hunt heads up the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) that deals with crimes in the jurisdictions of Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Tyler, Nikki’s ex-husband had been murdered at the hands of a serial killer Nikki had been chasing. Nikki is now married to Rory who is in the process of adopting Lacey, Nikki’s six-year-old daughter. Rory owns a successful construction company.
Special Agent Nikki Hunt is called to a home on Bone Lake, to assist Washington County Sheriff Miller, who she had worked with before on many cases. Now at the crime scene, Nikki is shocked to find blood all over the floor and two young women who clearly fought for their lives. But the house was the scene of another murder twenty years ago. The killer was never caught. The only survivor of the original massacre, Matt Kline, still owns the house, who claims he rents it out and hasn’t been there for years.
Nikki’s team soon identify the girls and determine they had a party the night they were killed, and one attendee, their friend Alexia, is missing…
Nikki is determined to find Alexia. Nikki and her team learn that Alexia was fascinated with the original Bone Lake case. The team finds many of Alexia’s notebooks about serial killers. They then learn that Alexia was having a relationship with Matt.
Nikki must find Matt and get the truth and find Alexia alive, before it’s too late…
An absolutely gripping and totally addictive thriller that will keep you racing through the pages all night long.
Many thanks to the author, Bookouture and NetGalley for my digital copy.
I adore this series. Nikki is a fantastic character and I love her team. She also has an adorable family although they aren’t featured as much in this one. As with all the books in this series, I was kept guessing until the end. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you hooked. It was such an intriguing crime and it was interesting seeing them try to solve a cold case in order to help find the missing girl. There are a couple of suspects to throw you off and I couldn’t put it down.
I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
