FBI agent Nikki Hunt is tasked with solving multiple current murders linked to an old unsolved case of the murder of 3 family members. This is a good book and the author does a good job of describing the characters and explaining what is happening. I often felt confused about which character was being talked about. There were many characters and some had similar names. The book starts off with a well described unsolved murder of 3 family members. It grabbed my attention immediately and for the most part kept my interest all through the book. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
FBI Agent Nikki Hunt is called to a gruesome murder scene where two girls have been brutally murdered and another is missing.
The house they were renting is well known for murders that occurred many years before, leaving one survivor, and the killer was never caught.
Could it be a copy cat or has the original murderer made a return because the missing girl, Alexia has uncovered his identity?
I am not actually a fan of Stacy Green's style of writing. This is only the second book I have read that she has written.... and I found the first a little hard to get into as well.
I enjoy the story, and I like a female lead in a police/FBI procedural.
For me, there is no well oiled 'flow' of writing. It is hard to explain.
However, I did, as I say, enjoy the story and the uncovering of clues, and the final reveal of the killer.
Liam, Nikki's partner seems to be a bit conceited one it seems that once he gets his sights on who he thinks is the guilty party, nothing will shift his opinion. An Investigator has to be open minded.
3/5 stars from me, I do recommend this book to Stacy Green fans.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest opinion.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Stacy Green for allowing me to review this ARC!
This book starts off with a chilling murder from 2001, resulting in the deaths of a family with one member still living. Fast forwarding to present day, the home that the murder took place in is now an AirBnB and owned by the surviving family member. When an amateur teen sleuth decides to rent the AirBnB on the night a documentary comes out about the murders things don't go as planned. Another set of murders occur. Are both murders connected? The teen detective was onto something when researching the 2001 murders and it she may pay the ultimate price.
Nikki Hunt is tasked to solve the present day murder but may solve both at the same time.
This book was a bit confusing with the amount of characters but was an easy mystery read. I enjoyed the story started off with a gripping murder and caught your attention right off the bat! I would recommend this book to those who like quick thrillers with a twist! I hadn't read any other of the Nikki Hunt books prior to reading this one but since there is a series I may pick up a few to read!
FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt has been called to a scene where two women have been brutally murdered and a third is missing. The location is the same house where 3 people were murdered twenty years ago and the crime has never been solved. One person survived the murders twenty years ago, a young boy who is now an adult. Are the murders connected or is someone else responsible. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is full of twists and turns, I didn’t see the ending coming. The book is part of a series but could easily stand on its own. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
