Hoo boy this was so much fun, I absolutely loved it! Fast paced, intense and twisty, it is definitely my favorite Kimberly Belle read thus far! This starts off as a nice little vacation in Paris, and it suddenly takes a turn that would be anyone’s worst nightmare. But that is when it gets twisty and wild, and I was flipping pages to figure out how it would possibly end and read this in a day. I don’t want to spoil anything, and make sure you go in blind, it was so satisfying that I did.
This is a complex and intense thriller. A couple on a business/vacation trip is interrupted by an explosion at the restaurant they had just left. However the husband remembers that he left something on the table and hurries back as the explosion occurs. Is he dead or alive?? The story takes you on the path to find out what happened, where Adam is and what has he done. It's page turning and unpredictable. It had me hooked from start to finish. I would highly recommend this book.
Jumping into this book, I really did not expect the outcome of the book. I was really thinking it was going to be a twist and turn of a wife trying to find her husband- boy was I wrong.
I do feel like some of the story slowed down, but I really was drawn into the whole "figuring out clues" type deal that was going on.
Some of the twists actually shocked me as well. I did NOT see some of them coming, and that was a nice suprise.
Kimberly Belle has been one of my favorite authors ever since I read and loved Dear Wife, and I love how varied and interesting her plot lines are. The Paris Widow is set in Paris as the title suggests, with Stella and Adam as our main characters/viewpoints. I can't say I actually loved either of these people, and my favorite character in the entire book was definitely Kat though she doesn't get too much page time. Stella irritated me for much of the book (which could also have been because of the narrator for the audio), but the storyline ended up getting completely wild and the pace is fast and never quits.
The audiobook features Patrick Zeller voicing Adam while Marni Penning voices Stella. I had no issues with Zeller, but Penning is very screechy which is a complaint I had with her narration for Johanna Porter Is Not Sorry. I think that influenced how I felt about Stella's character as a whole, and I just wish she would have calmed it down a bit since I love her voice besides that. I am going to start paying more attention to audiobooks with her as the narrator, and I am seriously considering going back and reading The Paris Widow with my eyes at some point. I loved the Paris setting as well as the nonstop action, and the end completely blew my mind. This is another winner from the amazing Kimberly Belle, and I can’t wait to see what she cooks up next.
What would you do if everything you knew about someone was a lie? Or was it? There were defiantly things left out because the person you thought you married may not be the same person that was the main target of a bomb! Do you trust them? Side with them? Forgive them? Turn them in? Move in?
👉🏼 When dream vacation turns deadly.
•What side of the bomb will you be on?•
A tense thriller, with lots of deception to discover and twists and turns to keep you guessing throughout. Stella is in Paris with her husband Adam, when the cafe they just ate at is the target of a supposed terrorist attack. And unfortunately, Adam seems to be one of the victims. But as the investigation continues, Stella discovers that Adam has a lot of secrets and it’s up to her to figure them out if she wants answers to the explosion or where Adam is.
Overall, a solid read but with a little too much going on at times.
I just finished reading "The Paris Widow" by Kimberly Belle. Thank you to NetGallley and ParkRow Books for the advanced copy in return for an honest review.
This book has an excellent story concept. What happened to him? All of a sudden police and others, show up telling her that her husband is not what he seems. He is actually a wanted man who has done bad things...but what is the truth? Stella (the wife) doesnt want to believe that her husband (Adam) is dead, and vows to stay in Paris until she find out the truth.
And so the exciting race to find the truth begins.. Along the way we learn that Stella herself has some pretty big secrets as she tries to keep herself safe she turns to someone that she once loved...who has secrets as well.

What I liked about this book was the character development and the twists and turns toward the truth. They were ineresting and unique and surprising and kept me on my toes. I also liked that this book taught me about the murky artworld and also introduced me to many wonderful places I would love to visit. The characters were complicated and not only good or evil...except for two of course.
What I didn't like about this book was the added element of life back home in the States. If found it largely uninteresting, and it didn't really explain the motives of the characters to my satisfaction
Overall, this is a good book, filled with action and suspense and logical conclusions. A good book to read for lovers of this genre.
Happy Reading
This was a good one. A couple is on vacation in Paris when the husband is caught in a building explosion. She becomes known for the news clip of her begging for people to help her find her missing husband, it goes viral around the world. She is approached by local authorities and told that her husband isn’t who she thinks he is, they have actually been collecting evidence of his crimes for over a decade and believe that he was the target of the explosion. Shocked, outraged, and grieving his wife decides not to leave Paris until he is found. Despite the urging of everyone around her. She ends up sucked into a world of thieves, liars and killers. Is he still alive? Will she make it out of this? Who really was the man she married?? This was a wild ride, with some really great twists. I really enjoyed it.
Great thriller. Loved the pacing, it was such a quick read. Also had me on my toes a great deal of time !!
3.5 stars...
Started off very strong... absolutely LOVED the atmospheric Parisian setting. It took me right back to all the wonderful things about Paris that I loved. The second half was a bit slower.
Loved all the quotes at the beginning of some chapters!
The Paris Widow is an action packed adventure thru Paris. Stella believes she has put her past behind her when she meets the love of her life, Adam. He works in the rare antique world and seems like a nice guy. Until the French police inform her that a recent bombing was aimed at him. Luckily Stella is a strong woman with a few tricks up her sleeves. I enjoyed watching her take on some mafia type people with nothing more than her wits. I would have liked more time spent on Adam but that may have ruined the final twist? Definitely a great summer read Even better if you are heading to Paris.
I was so excited for this one because I really enjoyed her previous release from last year, The Personal Assistant. But, sadly, this one just didn’t work for me. I usually find her pacing, plotting, and characters to be well developed and engaging. It wasn’t that I thought it was bad, I found the writing compelling enough, but the subject matter in this one just truly didn’t interest me one bit. So my rating reflects my level of enjoyment with the story on a personal level, and not necessarily that I thought the book was bad or poorly written. My reading tastes, unfortunately, didn’t align with the content and premise of this story. I don’t particularly enjoy stories that center around cons, for whatever reason I find it boring to read about. I thought the story started out really well and I was super invested, but when the twists started happening and the direction of the story changed, it really lost me. I wasn’t feeling the stakes or suspense enough to really care about the outcome of the book, although I did finish it. I’d still recommend it for others to read if they think the synopsis sounds interesting. I will definitely read from this author again in the future, but this one simply wasn’t for me.
Stella's had a perfect trip thr0ugh Europe with her husband. She's been revisiting and sharing some of her favorite places she'd found during her previous job as a flight attendant, while Adam has been searching for antique architectural pieces to sell out of his shop back in the states. For their last lunch in Paris, Stella insisted they visit a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant she remembered fondly. When Adam goes back for his sunglasses, he gets caught up in an explosion that rocks the seemingly unknown street corner.
Stella is frantic to find him, searching the rubble and asking after him from any source she can find. When she agrees to go on air for a journalist, begging for help in finding her husband, her tear-stained face is plastered all over newspapers and channels, naming her the Paris Widow. She refuses to leave Paris until he's found - even when it seems the chances of finding him alive are slim.
To her surprise, she's visited by a detective who was getting ready to an arrest for Adam. He'd been investigating him for years, due to his connection to black market smuggling of ancient artifacts. None of this makes sense - where is the proof, the money he's supposedly been making? It doesn't fit the Adam she knows - the kind man who loves ancient architecture and would never wish to profit from the destruction of it.
A quick moving thriller, with a timeline that sometimes dips back to the past, and with the occasional chapter from Adam's point of view. People move in and out of the narrative, and soon Stella doesn't know who to trust. Who's really trying to help her? And who's trying to use her to get to Adam?
I'm not always a fan of thrillers that lead back to smuggling rings, but this one managed to hit just right. It was interesting and the pacing kept my attention, with just enough twists and turns to keep it from being predictable. Very well written, and I'd look for Kimberly Belle books again!
I have read every book that Kimberly Belle has written and they are all so good. Don’t forget to grab a copy of The Paris Widow. It's a fast-moving story that takes place in Paris. A woman named Stella is swept up in a possible crime when her husband goes missing after a tragic explosion. She is frantic with worry, imagining the worst and unable to get answers.
OF COURSE, there is more to her husband than she thought and she goes searching for answers, and for the truth.
When Stella met Adam, she thought she had finally found a nice, normal guy — a welcome change from her previous boyfriend and her precarious jetsetter lifestyle with him. But her secure world comes crashing down when Adam goes missing after an explosion in the city square. Unable to reach him, she panics.
As the French police investigate, it’s revealed that Adam was on their radar as a dealer of rare and stolen antiquities with a long roster of criminal clients. Reeling from this news, Stella is determined not to leave Paris until she has the full story. Was Adam a random victim or the target of the explosion? And why is someone following her through the streets of Paris?
An irresistible, fast-paced read set in some of Europe’s most inviting locales, The Paris Widow explores how sinister secrets of the past stay with us — no matter how far we travel.
Kimberly Belle’s, THE PARIS WIDOW is an all-nighter book! I got the print copy because I was that thrilled with this thriller. With each new Kimberly Belle book I am noticing I am enjoying them more and more! I didn’t think anything would top DEAR WIFE, but this one does. I am always impressed! Huge fan!
The cliffnotes version: I just loved it!
I really enjoyed the writing and suspense in this one. Every few chapters you got Adam's POV from the days leading up to the explosion which I thought helped to give some depth to his character that we wouldn't have gotten if it was just Stella's POV; I also thought it helped the reader start to put things together more clearly.
And I loved the way this came together. I thought it was so believable for the story that was being told.
Overall I thought this was a great, captivating read.
Would I recommend it? A resounding YES for any thriller/suspense reader.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a readers copy of this title. My reviews are freely given and never contain spoilers.
Stella’s husband has been killed in an explosion at a restaurant in Paris. His body hasn’t been recovered and his death remains unconfirmed. While waiting for verification of his demise, Stella begins to realize that maybe he is not dead at all. He is being accused of selling stolen artifacts on the black market, and was a wanted man. Someone wanted him dead and the police want him for interrogation.
The story has great characters and flows very nicely. A classic case of who can you trust, if anyone? Enjoy.
The Paris Widow is a delightful blend of mystery and Parisian allure. Set against the backdrop of the City of Light, the novel captivates with its rich atmosphere and intriguing plot twists. Belle masterfully weaves in references to Oscar Wilde, adding a layer of literary charm that enriches the narrative.I found myself immersed in the vivid descriptions of Paris, from its bustling streets to its hidden corners, which added depth to the storyline. The characters are compelling, each with their own secrets and motivations that kept me guessing until the very end.
The twists and turns throughout the book kept me eagerly turning the pages, never quite sure what would happen next.
Stella and Adam have been happily married for four years. Adam is an antique dealer who often travels the world to find architectural antiques for his restoration construction company. Stella used to be a air hostess and also loves travel, so decides to join Adam at the end of one of his buying trips to Europe so they can spend some time visiting their favourite places. On the last day of their three week magical and romantic vacation they are Paris, when it all goes wrong with an abrupt and terrifying halt.
They are on their way back to their hotel after lunch in a small charming restaurant, when Adam dashes back to get his sunglasses that he left on the table. Suddenly Stella hears an almighty explosion and races back to find Adam but he is nowhere to be seen. After searching and asking everyone at the scene if they saw him, she eventually returns to the hotel but, after he has failed to appear within a few days, she starts to fear that he is dead. When the police arrive to question her, they tell her things she didn’t know about Adam and she begins to wonder who this man is that she married and loves so much.
This is a terrific psychological thriller. Almost cinematic, it’s action packed, playing out like a high tension spy thriller filled with danger, betrayal, revenge and intrigue. Flashbacks to the past fill out the details of Stella’s and Adam’s former lives. While Adam has been hiding what he really does and is living a dangerous life, Stella is not squeaky clean either with a chequered past that she’s never told Adam about. She is however, a force to be reckoned with when it comes to finding out what happened to Adam, and not to be underestimated.
Told from the point of view of both Adam and Stella, it’s easy to like both of them and hope that all will end well for them, even as more of Adam’s shocking past becomes clear. The plot is fast paced with short, suspenseful chapters and razor-sharp twists and turns that keep the reader on the edge of their seat. It all makes for an enthralling cat and mouse game resulting in a terrific climax and an excellent page turner.
Many thanks to Netgalley for an arc of this book. I received this book in exchange for my honest review. My thoughts are entirely my own.
Stella and her husband are on a trip to Paris, a trip where Stella joined her husband Adam who is an antiques dealer who mostly works with furniture and things like that. Stella takes Adam to this cute restaurant with amazing galette’s. Adam forgets his sunglasses at the restaurant and Stella decides to go back to the hotel to get their luggage so that they don’t miss their flight and suddenly a bomb goes off at the restaurant they were just at. Stella starts calling Adam freaking out and can’t get ahold of him. A reporter talks to her and she starts talking to as many as she can to try and find Adam. She becomes the Paris Widow. The hotel they are staying at changes her room for her and puts her somewhere else no charge. She meets a man from the US embassy and Stella finds out that Adam is involved in blood antiques and is involved with dangerous people. Stella begins to find out more about Adam and realizes that he has been lying to her. Adam knew who Stella was before they met. Adam is pronounced dead after they find a body that matches his description. Adam then calls her on a burner phone that a random man gives her. Adam wants Stella to leave because he can’t protect her in Paris. Adam hide a SIM card in a necklace that he gave her with all the information of who he was dealing with and what each person wanted. Stella contacts her ex that got her arrested years earlier because of a priceless book and he helps her. Stella makes a copy of Adam’s SIM card for insurance and shows up at the house of the woman that hired Adam to get her a few things and Adam ends up shot. Adam recovers and an MI6 agent starts taking down the people on Adam’s list since he had been helping them all along after he met Stella and wanted to turn his life around. Adam and Stella decide to start a new life and change their appearances with the money Adam has in three separate accounts in Luxembourg.
