I’m definitely not outdoorsy in a go camping way BUT all these recipes can totally be adapted to make around a fire pit in your backyard! And they are so fun and delicious! Super easy too. Also the author even gives tips on packing it if you are a weirdo that likes camping with bugs and icky things.
This has been my favorite cookbook find this year! I love camping with my husband but have always wanted to do more than just burgers and hotdogs (it’s the foodie in me). This book is absolutely perfect. It will make our next camping trips more of an experience!
Love the pictures! Will be buying a physical copy, for sure!
I thought this would be mainly cocktails but there are so many non alcoholic drinks and snacks. I’m vegan but all of these recipes are easily adaptable. The photos are really beautiful! I’m most excited to make the hot dates and pair them with a salted hot chocolate.
Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group – Harvard Common Press and Netgalley for this copy in exchange for my review.
So I snagged this on a whim because I was going camping and wanted some ideas of some fireside treats and I was really impressed with the wide range of things in this book. From snacks and desserts to cocktails and dinner. The recipes were extremely straight forward and you don't need a lot of stuff, some of it you could even make before hand and transport in, like the dry goods for the crepes and cake to help save on time and space. I also really liked the tips scattered throughout the book, like how to safely transport spirits or packing a cooler.
Overall a quick read with some really great recipes. A definite pick up if you're doing an overnight or something.
This was such an aesthetically pleasing and cozy camping cookbook! As an avid camper and bonfire lover, this is a perfect hosting tool! Full of easy recipes to cook on the fire or grill, as well as delicious cocktails recipes to pair. Along with recipes, this book also offers many helpful camping or travel tips such as how to pack a cooler, best tools for packing spirits, and camping friendly barware. A must-have for camping and outdoor cooking enthusiasts.
Thank you, NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group, for the opportunity to read and review this delightful cookbook.

This is a wonderful cookbook that has recipes that will elevate any fire pit gathering. The spiked drinks and sweet treats make me want to get outside and enjoy the chilly weather by the fire. I like the simplicity of the foil wrapped pears and the roasted dates, not to mention the drinks look great!
As an avid camper always on the lookout for practical and delicious solutions for outdoor cooking, I stumbled upon "Fireside Warmers" by Emily Vikre.
This camping cookbook has simple and complex recipes embodying an upscale guide to outdoor cooking. The recipes are not always easy to follow but the level of creativity elevates campfire meals beyond the ordinary.
If you are an experienced cook or one that doesn't mind a challenge, the variety of recipes caters to different tastes and dietary preferences, ensuring that there's something for everyone around the campfire. From modern S'mores to a marshmallow mule this book makes cooking in the great outdoors a unique experience.
The book also includes beautiful visuals that not only showcase the finished dishes but also capture the spirit of outdoor cooking. The stunning imagery adds an extra layer of inspiration, encouraging campers to get creative and make the most of their culinary adventures.
In a world where outdoor cooking resources can be overwhelming, "Fireside Warmers" stands out. Happy cooking and camping!
I enjoyed this book and it's fun out of the boxes recipes for being out camping or even your home fire ring. Meals, treats, and drinks (both virgin and alcoholic) are chronicled with gorgeous pictures to help you see what the result would be. I would suggest this book to all my friends that amp.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for my gifted copy.
I am hosting a party at my house and will be having a bonfire, and this book just called out to me. The cover is so pretty and that is the first drink I am going to make. I'm excited about all of these, they all look so yummy!!!
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook.
This is such a great little book on how to cook and make drinks around the campfire. Whether you are camping or in your backyard this is pretty fancy looking campfire food and drinks recipe book. The food is basic but it all looks amazing. Easy to follow directions and also it is full of information on how to cook and how to pack for the best campfire eating and drinking experience!
This is such a fun cookbook. It definitely makes me want to pickup and go camping! I can’t wait to make the Norwegian stick bread. I loved the photos and descriptions to go with each recipe. I really enjoyed the vibe of this book. Lots of these recipes look like they would be perfect to make at home too. Looking forward to gifting this book to camp loving sister!
I must say I am not a camped but I do like a good camp cookbook to give me inspiration for when I am travelling and need some easy recipes to cook. This did all that and more and I will even be cooking some of these recipes at home.
There are so many great ideas and interesting ways to change up a recipe, it is a comforting cookbook that will warm you up and make you want to cook outdoors whether at home or on holidays. I like the 'How To' sections and hints, the photos are wonderful and made me hungry and the layout works well. Easy to use, easy to read and all the fun you want.
Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
A unique and creative cookbook with some basic but interesting food and drink recipes. The step by step as well as add ins are a great way to take a basic recipe and create a wealth of ideas and new recipes. This would be perfect for the hiker/camper who is a foodie that wants to entertain at the camp site and providing creative thought provokers. Great photos and ideas to try!
Thanks to Netgally the author and publisher for the opportunity.
This book is so cozy! It’s filled with a lot of comforting, beautiful, simple recipes to cook on a grill or fire (As well as several drink recipes). You don’t have to limit these recipes to camping adventures only! They look great for everyday use.
I would argue that a lot of these recipes do call for prep either before you leave for the camp or while there (chopping scallions on a campsite means bringing a knife and cutting board).
I would make a lot of these recipes in the summer and fall for casual dinner parties.
By the cover, I assumed that this was a book of cocktails for sipping around the fire. I seriously underestimated what this book is. This is a great resource for camping, weekends at the cabin, or backyard gatherings around a fire.
The majority of the recipes are either eaten cold or to be enjoyed around the fire, cooked in cast iron, grill or roasting stick. The beverages are all cozy and designed to sip around the fire. Ingredients are accessible - no weird ones - and would transport easily, especially if you use their tips as to how to pack a cooler.
There are several "how to" sections that provide additional resources for those who might just be starting out. Things like how to pack spirits or camp fire friendly barware that are especially helpful.
The layout and photos are beautiful and make this a really pleasant book to flip through but also really user friendly.
Now to go make a cocktail!
I am really excited to try these recipes and drinks, especially at family the family gatherings coming up in the holiday season.
I went into this with an open mind and very little expectations as while I adored the concept, I’ve found that these kind of recipe books can be so hit or miss. Thankfully this was a massive hit for me and I really loved it.
Fireside Warmers has a great blend of recipes for a range of cooking skills and ambition which I really appreciated. Personally I’m just not going to be baking a cake over a wood fire any time soon but I will absolutely be trying out the baked pears and hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps this weekend! The hot dates also sound amazing and I can’t believe I had never thought of them!
I was also really pleasantly surprised at how many vegetarian, and vegan, recipes there were. As a vegetarian for the last decade I’m used to having to skip huge sections of books because there’s just nothing in there for me but I loved how many recipes just happened to be vegetarian (it didn’t feel like they were just some boring recipes thrown in for the sake of ticking this box, it felt like the vegetarian options were already favorites and it just so happens that they’re vegetarian/vegan!).
My own real criticism, and the reason we’re not looking at a 5 star review, is that I wanted more photos. The photos that were included were beautiful and perfectly encapsulated that cosy, curled up next to an open fire vibe and I just wanted more of them! This is not the feedback I was expecting to give as usually there’s far too many photos in cook books but this was the one time I felt like more would have been beneficial. I would have loved more photos showing some of the processes of cooking. While I’m not necessarily saying step by step photos are needed it would have been nice to have had some photos showing some of this
This book is coming out on the 16th January 2024
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC.
