This is an incredible cookbook for anyone considering a plant based diet. All recipes are well set out and easy to follow, and the pictures are beautiful. I cannot wait to try out some of the recipes
I have an obsession with reading new cookbooks, especially when those cookbooks focus on plant based eating! Plants Taste Better was a great book filled with amazing sounding plant based recipes. There weren’t a ton of photos included, but those that were included were stunning and the types of ingredients you hope to have in your kitchen! Like many of the plant based cookbooks I’ve read, some of the ingredients included in recipes might be a tad difficult to find without some specialty healthy living stores or co-ops, but for the most part, I can’t wait to try these recipes out!
Beautiful food! beautifully presented. This will inspire the adventurous cook to put more vegetables and fruits on the table.
As a former vegan due to medical issues, I can confirm that tastes change when you eat only plant-based foods. Because Buckley's food is so appealing, it shouldn't be difficult to choose these recipes and hints to create a healthier diet.
Recommended for vegans, vegetarians, omnivores and anyone else who eats. It's great if you collect pretty cookbooks. And highly recommended if you like to cook, too.
This cookbook is not your go-to for everyday quick meals; it's crafted for those special occasions when you want to elevate your culinary experience.
What's truly remarkable is that the vegan community now has access to such a gourmet treasure. One standout feature is the inclusion of multiple measurements, ensuring precision in every dish. The recipes are meticulously crafted from scratch, accompanied by invaluable tips, and showcased through stunning photography.
This book guides you in transforming your meals into exquisite creations, rivalling the finest vegan dining experiences found in five-star restaurants.
Thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – White Lion Publishing for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is a very artistic cookbook, with the layout varying between pages. This cookbook also feels like it has a very elevated take. With small plates and meals that look they'd be from a high scale restaurant.
One thing I found interesting about this cookbook is that at times there would be 2-3 pages dedicated to very similar recipes, such as different stocks, garnishes, purees or pickled vegetables. Depending on what you're looking for in a cookbook this could be a positive for more variety and options, or a negative for some very similar or repetitive recipes.
Overall though I think this is a very good cookbook, especially if you're looking for some fancier plant based recipes. A lot of these recipes I would make to impress guests at a dinner party.
Thank you to netgalley for providing me with an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
While I will never be a vegan or vegetarian, I do strive to incorporate more meat free meals. This book really has some unique, plant based recipes. The recipes are relatively easy and the ingredients easily accessible. The pictures are beautiful.
This book is way above my cookie level. While I appreciated these elevated dishes, I would only eat them in a restaurant. But what I did take away from this is use of flavor. I will now experiment more with my own plants. Because it's true: plants taste good.
I'm not a vegetarian but I've been trying to eat a more plant-based diet recently so I was thrilled to see this available for review! The recipes look delicious and seem easy to follow, and the pictures are gorgeous.
Looking forward to elevating my eating experiences from my normal routine!
A gorgeous, beautifully designed book with delicious recipes using plant-based foods. I've noted a number I want to add to our regular recipes to help my family be healthier.
We’re just over a week into the 10th edition of Veganuary. I hope everyone participating is finding it fun and easy. There are so many amazing plant based foods and vegan recipes to taste and create. This week, I’d like to share a beautiful recipe book with you that’s sure to get your tastebuds going wild.
Plants Taste Better is a unique recipe book. One that really demonstrates just what you can create with plants. You will be free to explore the world of restaurant-quality vegan dishes from your own home.
Author, Richard Buckley’s previous restaurant, Acorn, was the UK’s first vegan restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide 2019, and also won the prestigious Trenchermans award for creativity and innovation 2018.
Rather than sticking to a classic recipe book, the author teaches us about the ideal equipment, textures, and colours. We are given a glimpse into the philosophy and science of cooking plant-based dishes in high-end restaurants.
However, unlike many chefs, Richard is concerned about food waste, and his recipes are all about using the whole plant, root to fruit. Instead of automatically throwing this parts away, we are given beautiful recipes which include carrot tops, fennel fronds and broccoli cores.
Of course, we can’t talk about the book without mentioning the wonderful vegan recipes. From super simple Fried Spanish Almonds and Tamari Cashews, onto Tempura Kale and Pistachio pâté. There are a wide range of warming soups, summer salads and mouth watering dessert recipes packed into the pages too. Some recipes are definitely more complex and involved than others, yet some are really quite simple.
Despite the creation of rather fancy, exciting dishes, the ingredients are almost entirely simply fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, legumes and oils. It’s very satisfying to create dishes with easily sourced ingredients.
I can’t wait to try this Tuscan Lentil & Grain broth, which makes my mouth water every time I see the recipe!
Other vegan cookbooks rarely, if ever, delve into the type of sophisticated cuisine that is available in cookbooks with meat and fish dishes. Plants Taste Better has successfully catered for this niche in the market and I think it’s a wonderful book.
I love to see people making wonderful food with whole-food plant based ingredients. This cookbook is beautifully made. I don't know that it is anything that I would use at home but I appreciate the effort that has been made to elevate vegan food to fine dining.
This is a beautifully illustrated book with wonderfully sophisticated and elevated recipes. I think this is for the more seasoned cook as some of the recipes are more complex and time consuming, but they are gorgeous, creative and delicious. I made a few of the less complicated recipes and they were delightful. Have others earmarked to prepare. This would also make a lovely gift.
OOOOMG every vegetarian needs this book! The design is absolutely gorgeous. The recipes are delicious. And the required effort (to create dishes that look like Michelin dishes) is minimal. Highly recommend!
This cookbook is a culinary treasure! The recipes are not only easy to follow but also yield delicious results. The diverse range of dishes caters to various tastes, making it a go-to guide for both novice and experienced cooks. The vibrant photos add an extra layer of inspiration, making this cookbook a delightful addition to any kitchen.
Plants Taste Better by Richard Buckley, first-ever Michelin Starred vegan restaurant, includes 70 dishes that unleash the power of the plant.
The photographs are beautiful and inspired me to try some of those dishes.
It’s a whole new level of vegan cooking that surprisingly enough doesn’t require lots of technical cooking experience to reproduce some of those recipes.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
I am becoming a fan of cooking these days. I really enjoyed this book.
The pictures were very helpful.
I cannot wait to make some of recipes!!

This is a great cookbook. I enjoyed the beautiful pictures. And the recipes were wonderful!
So excited to check out these recipes! I always have trouble including more plants and vegetables in my diet so I am really glad that I found this book. A lot of the recipes look really good and some of them look really simple to do. I can't wait to try them out myself!
If you aspire to creating restaurant worthy vegan dishes this is the book for you. Full of delicious recipes, it will take time to create the recipes. There's plenty of steps that you'll need to complete and source from elsewehre in the book. Well worth the effort
I want to eat everything in this cookbook! I am trying to eat a more plant focused diet and this has given me many great ideas to elevate my meals a bit from my everyday go-to recipes. I am especially excited to try some of the soups, spreads, pastas and desserts featured, all of which look incredible.
