Super cute and addictive graphic novel. The art style is super cute and I love the characters. The plot definitely hooks you and you can't put it down.
Morgana, a struggling witch, accidently turns Oz, an angsty vampire, into a cute cat! Will Morgana find a way to reverse the spell before war breaks out between the rival clans?
I really enjoyed the beautiful artwork! Morgana is a sweet, well-meaning, albeit naïve, protagonist and you really want things to go well for her, especially in a world full of dark secrets and intergenerational trauma.
Love the artwork and character design - looking forward to reading the rest of this story. Many thanks to NetGalley and Webtoon Unscrolled for the advanced reader copy!
This book is a great new take on the classic Morgana Le Fay and the Wizard of Oz. This graphic novel has a unique and captivating narrative. The artwork is rich and detailed, bringing both the magical and mysterious elements of the story to life. Overall, Volume One offers an intriguing start to what promises to be an imaginative and spellbinding series.
I loved this book, I gobbled it up so fast. The characters were fun and compelling, the hints of the bigger lore in the background perfectly sprinkled, I laughed so hard so many times and couldn't wait to hand it to my tween daughter.
This was totally not what I was expecting. For some reason I was expecting witches and maybe something about Oz, the place, not another character. But I was pleasantly surprised. I love that she turned him into a cat! I can't wait to find out how this will all shake out. I'm not crazy about vampires as a rule, but this might become my one exception to that rule. I enjoyed the artwork and loved that it was in color. I'm very interested in the next issue.
Ahhh, this book. I loved the story, I loved the art, and I cannot wait to read more.
I get excited every time I see it on the selves at stores because I am so excited to see it out in the world.
If you are a vampire or witch girlie like me you're going to eat this one uuuuuup!!!
Thank you to Netgalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for the opportunity to read an eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
This first installment of morgana and oz made me want more. I love the cute tension between both of them. It feels very paranormal Romeo and Juliet, hopefully with a better ending. Morgana is that typical girl ( who happens to be a witch ) who wants to impress her family and be more than she is. Oz is a mysterious and misunderstood boy ( who happens to be a vampire ) that has peeked her interest. Will it turn in to more than an unlikely friendship? Is morganas family really who they think they are? Is she destined for more than the life she has? I have so many questions and cant wait to read more!
Morgana is a teenage witch who is struggling to control her powers. Her spells always seem to go wrong. Her family wants to make peace with their rival vampire clan, but after a dinner party leaves the vampires ill, they’re ready to go to war. While everyone else was at the dinner, Morgana finds a vampire named Oz behind her house. She accidentally turns Oz into a white cat. Morgana needs to find the way to reverse the spell, but she doesn’t want to admit her mistake to her family, so she sneaks around with her new vampire cat friend.
This was such a fun graphic novel! It’s the perfect paranormal read for this fall. It was so fast paced and exciting. This book ended on a huge cliffhanger, so I can’t wait until volume 2 comes out!
Morgana and Oz, Vol. 1 is a great graphic novel for spooky season!
Thank you Wattpad Books for providing a digital copy of this book!
This story is absolutely adorable so far! Morgana is our innocent kind hearted lead who accidently turns our grumpy Oz into a cat. I love even as friends/acquaintances you can already feel the grumpy/sunshine dynamic between the two of them. I am also excited to see what direction the mystery and drama goes. I would definitely recommend this story to people during the Halloween season, but also all year round!
I LOVE it!!
The artworks, the story and that we will have it in german soon! :D
I will definitely buy it for our bookshop.
I loved this! I love anything with magic, witches, and vampires anyway but I really enjoyed reading this first volume. I loved all of the characters but Oz was my favorite so far. I also loved all the artwork and vibrant colors. I feel like anyone that likes a good magical story will really enjoy this.
This was a cute read and my first graph novel. I think because it’s my first graph novel I have it the three star cause I don’t exactly know how to rate these yet. I really enjoyed reading it. It was really cute there also just didn’t feel like there was much in it. I will say as someone who can’t see images in my mind it was kind of nice to know this is how things look instead of having to read the description, but again since this is my first graphic novel that something I’m still having to get used to.
A very intriguing start to a graphic novel series. The art style was very beautiful and rendered well the world of supernatural creatures - vampires and witches, in particular. The two groups have a centuries-long feud that threatens to end them both, and I thought the magical elements were super unique and well done! I hope to see more romance between our two MCs in future volumes!
Super cute little manga. The artistry was absolutely gorgeous and the story was well paced. I don’t usually do Webtoons but the cover called my name and I’m so glad I was offered this one! Review to come on other platforms!
Hello Again,
I had another great reading week last week and I finally feel like I am getting out of whatever semi-reading slump I was in and I am now on a reading kick. The other night I was looking for something I could read in one sitting (so naturally a graphic novel or manga) and something that I could be cozy when reading (so basically in my favorite spot in the house, with a candle lit that smells like fall, and my favorite tea). I decided to look at my Hoopla and the other places I read graphic novels. During my search I saw that I was approved for an E-ARC of Morgana and Oz Volume 1. (Thank you so much to the publisher for the E-ARC in exchange for my honest opinions). I do have a webtoon account and had seen this graphic novel on there before but never gave it a try so I downloaded the E-ARC and got myself ready for some cozy fall vibes.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Morgana lives in a very large home with her family. She is a teenage witch from a long line of witches. Morgana’s family has very high expectations for her including dealing with the family business as she gets older but Morgana is not exactly the best at magic but she is definitely trying. Morgana’s family is going to be meeting with a vampire clan to attempt to have some peace talks however, the talks go not at all how they were expected to and before Morgana even gets to the dinner she bumps into some vampires outside including one named Oz. Then before they all know it the house is literally on fire and her grandfather is missing. Now things are even more heated than normal and Morgana has also accidentally turned Oz into a cat. So she has to figure out how to fix that. With mounting problems and issues between the witches and vampires, Morgana has to figure out her magic and fix Oz fast.
This became a new favorite series. When I finished I went and pre-ordered this and the next volume. I also went onto Webtoon and favorited the series so I can keep reading. I loved the entire plot of this first volume, I really enjoyed meeting both Morgana and Oz as well as Morgana’s family. I was also super intrigued by the end of the story (with Morgana’s accidental find). I am so excited to see where this story goes! I definitely recommend checking this graphic novel out when it hits shelves on September 24th!
Goodreads Rating: 5 Stars
***Thank you so much to the publisher for the E-ARC in exchange for my honest opinions.
oh this is cute without much even happening like it really said plot who when there's amazing characters? I didn't even notice how slow moving the storyline is and I just wanted to stay looking at the whimsical art. And there certainly are mysteries and a slow burn romance happening, and I'm so excited to see how they will pan out
This was not the book for me. I didn't connect with the story and found it hard to make myself finish this.
It didn't help that the ARC was very fuzzy.
I’m always up for witchy graphic novels. This one was cute and I was interested in Oz and Morgana’s story. I was excited to see how they would help each other and their families but of course it ended on a cliffhanger. I would read the sequel.
Struggling witch, Morgana, can’t control her magic, and one night she accidentally turns the vampire, Oz, into an adorable white cat. Now, Morgana must try to reverse her spell and learn how to deal with the ongoing feud between her witch family and Oz’s vampire clan.
This is such a cute webtoon and I really enjoyed this first volume. I love the art style, and the story is funny and intriguing. I can't wait to read more of this series!
Morgana and Oz is an adorable little fantasy story showcasing the trouble between two family lines-- the witches and their rivaling clan of vampires. Volume 1 introduces their political and social differences while throwing us right into their shared family dramatics from the perspective of the young teens in their family lines.
With a splash of fantasy and magic, Morgana and Oz themselves become intertwined in a comical situation involving transformation, bad magical practices, and forced proximity in order to protect the vampire. It's more comedy than serious in volume one, but the lingering feeling of the story line after finishing the first volume promises a ramping up of the serious plot beats regarding the drama between the two families to come.
Perfect for fans of witchy/fantasy series, it is easy to jump right in and enjoy. I laughed my butt off at several points, and I found the art style charming. Morgana is likeable and bumbles around, while Oz has a bit of a meaner streak but feels like he has a melty core in his heart.
Very adorable first volume!
Thank you Netgalley, Miyuli, and Webtoon for the advance copy!
