This was a very fun, cute and cozy graphic novel.
The illustrations are beautiful with a lot of details and they gave me a cozy feeling.
In this story we have humans, Vampires and Witches. And they do live next to each other and know from each other, but they do not really like each other. There is a lot of judgment from everyone.
I love our main characters Oz and Morgana. Enemies to friends (maybe later lovers?).
I love how their friendship grows and how they have to learn to trust each other.
There are a lot of secrets, that we don't know the truth know. For example what happened to the grandpa or what was with the blood?
I love that the characters are not perfect and make mistakes.
I hope I do not have to wait too long for Vol 2. I need to know how it continues.
4.5/5
Morgana is a witch. Oz is a vampire. Can I get any more obvious? Their families at war, a spell gone wrong. What more can I say?
I have been seeing art of Miyuli’s Morgana and Oz chat gets for years! I’m so happy they have their own real book!
So far I’m loving the plot, characters and world building. I want more! I devoured this volume in less than an hour, I swear. I’m almost tempted to head over to webtoon and catch up, but I think I’ll be patient and wait for all the book volumes to come out (my willpower is too strong sometimes).
The art is beautiful and clean and all in colour! I can’t wait to read more of this story~
This was soo cute and I can't wait buy the whole series. I love how Oz started to care for Morgana when trying her hardest to turn him back and the same with Morgana when Oz was hurt
thank you to the publisher for an arc!!
i loved reading webtoons during the pandemic and i'm so happy to see that so many artists/authors are getting picked up and traditionally published! i also loved art updates of morgana and oz on instagram, so getting the opportunity to read an early copy was so fun.
this first volume had all of the beautiful, cozy art and vibes you'd expect from miyuli! i'm excited for volume two after that cliffhanger!
This was so cute!! I absolutely adored the art style!! The story was rich and inviting to readers and overall just was great as we transition into spooky season!
Loved!!
The art style is cute and very enjoyable.
Morgana and Oz are so cute. Can’t get enough of them. So excited to continue and see what unfolds.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc.
This was a really cute read! I loved the art style and thought it matched the vibe of the book perfectly. The storyline was intriguing and I enjoyed learning more about the coven of witches and the vampire clan. All of the characters were interesting but my favourites were definitely Morgana and Oz, their scenes together were really fun! The ending left me wanting more and I'm excited to read the next volume!
When I say I’ve been keeping an eye on Miyuli’s insta for a while now I ain’t lying! So you know when I saw this on Netgalley I had to swipe it up real quick lmao.
This story is about a witch, still learning to control her powers, who meets a vampire through… unfortunate circumstances. After a treaty party between the two families goes awol Morgana, our witch main character, messes up a spell and turns Oz, our vampire boy, into a cat. A cat… only she can communicate with. A war among the two clans may break out if the duo doesn’t figure something out. And quickly!
Very beautiful artwork to match a very lovely story. I look forward to Vol. 2 after such a hot character intro right at the end! I’m going to give this a 3.5/5-star rating. If I had to give it a harsher critique it would only be that I felt the pace was a little fast. I wish some scenes could have been dragged out a little more. But alas, it was great and I’m sure my library will be purchasing it once it’s released. This story fits in perfectly with some of our other Young Adult Graphic Novels and I’m sure our patrons will love it just as much.
My thanks to Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group and NetGalley for the Digital Advanced Reader’s Copy. This book is expected to be published September 23rd, 2024.
I love Morgana and Oz. The art is so cute. It perfectly complements their personalities. I am excited to own my own print copy for my shelves.
4.5 stars - Oh I fear I really loved this and I implore everyone to pick up a copy when this comes out! This was an almost perfect graphic novel for me. The art was so unbelievably cute and exactly the kind of style that I love to read. The plot was equally interesting for me and I would love to dive into the worldbuilding and history behind the relationship between the witch and vampire clan - you can tell that it is already wrought with history! The characters in this novel are what really solidified this as a "must-continue". I love the Romeo and Juliet-esque vibes they have and I think they really stand on their own as interesting characters as well. I wish I had more volumes and I see this is a webtoon so I will happily continue on.
This was cute! Likable characters and looks to be a good Romeo and Juliet story. I’d read book two and beyond quite happily. If you like urban fantasy with romance and are ok with YA fantasy you’ll like this book.
I always love a beautiful, full color webtoon and seeing it on my Kobo makes it even more special! I’m so excited to see all these great comics/manga being pickup up traditionally and read by wider audiences. Morgana and Oz had an interesting world that I can’t wait to see expanded upon, as well as a unique magic system. The art style is beautiful and I can’t wait to see more webtoon grace the publishing sphere! The story was well setup and makes me want to pick up the next installment now. Vampires and witches?? Sign me up!
Thank you to NetGalley, Webtoon, and the author for sending me an early copy!
This was a cozy, mysterious graphic novel that would be perfect for fall. I enjoyed Morgana as a main character with her chaotic magic and sweet nature who believes in the good in everyone. Oz is gruff and testy, but I am excited to (hopefully) see his more sensitive side, especially if it is toward Morgana. The beginning of the story was a bit abrupt, and felt like I was missing something. Once the story progressed a bit, I felt more grounded in the plot. The mystery is introduced into the story in the last 20 pages is intriguing. I will continue reading, especially after having a cliffhanger.
Thank you to Netgalley and Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for the eARC in exchange for a review.
I loved this SO MUCH!!! The artstyle is amazing, as well as the character designs (both in the art sense and in the story sense). Morgana and Oz have such a cute dynamic and I can already see how their relationship will bloom into such an amazing romance. But for now, it seems they have a lot of fixing to do.
I'll definitely be buying the next volumes as they come out!
Thank you to WEBTOON and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This is a cute YA graphic novel about a teenage witch. While the beginning did not transition the best from digital to print, the rest felt like a regular graphic novel. I enjoyed the art style, the plot setup, and the ambiance. Two sides of a long-standing rivalry come together in this lovely little read. I can't wait to read volume two.
This is such a cute comic! I found the story to be interesting, the characters silly and relatable and the art style excellent. The ebook itself was easy to read with a full page layout that I read easily on an 8" tablet. I cant wait to see what the physical copy looks like and I will definitely be buying. I will also be finishing the series!
Morgana and Oz is a story about two feuding families, a witch family, and a vampire clan, and how negotiations can go from bad to worse. But Morgana, a witch, and Oz, a vampire, find themselves in an interesting situation that results in them spending quality time together and, dare I say, becoming friends. Despite the impending war between these two groups, I found this story very cozy. This is a great read for over the fall, especially because it's serialized so you can read one volume in a day if you want. Can't wait to read more!
This has been my favorite graphic novel so far...I need volume two immediately 😅
This is about a witch family and their rival clan of Vampires.
The witches want peace and call a meeting with the vampire clan, but things get out of hand and our FMC witch Morgana is left trying to figure things out and reverse a spell she cast. Can't wait for volume 2!
Thank you Netgalley, and the publishers for a copy in exchange for an honest review!
I loved this! the art style was adorable, and I cant wait to read more!!! The characters felt well fleshed out, and the love story was so cute! I cant wait for the next edition to come out.
Where do I start? This graphic novel was so cute! Young witch, Morgana Winterberry, and her family have been in a feud with a vampire clan for a long time and wish to broker peace. The vampires, not trusting the witches, set up a few of their people outside in case of trouble. Morgana, who is having trouble controlling her magic, accidentally burns the dress she is supposed to wear to the meeting and runs outside to stash it in the garbage, surprising the two vampires poised to help their clan. In an effort at distraction, Oz is sent to speak to her. As they clumsily interact with each other, a commotion breaks out in the house when the vampires accuse the Winterberries of poisoning the blood that they offered to them. Chaos ensues and Morgana accidentally and unknowingly turns Oz into a grumpy white cat.
While the subject matter of this graphic novel is well-worn (sweet and kind girl meets grumpy boy, families don’t get along, etc), I found this to be more than enjoyable and pretty funny on several occasions. The characters are likable and it’s easy to get invested in the storyline.
I found Morgana’s character to be very charming. As the next in line of the Winterberry family, she’s under immense pressure to become a powerful witch, but her self doubt and anxiety seem to be getting in her way. She remains ever determined and kind, though, even when she is pelted by rocks in town by human children. Her dedication to helping Oz, whom she has just met and is technically still her family’s enemy, is very sweet and her missteps are amusing. Even Oz, who is initially mistrustful of Morgana, warms to her quickly. It’s sweet to watch him become protective of her.
I liked that while Morgana’s family could’ve been easily portrayed as judgemental and mean, they are for the most part pleasant and supportive of her. Her dad fawning over the kitty cat Oz was honestly too cute. I really enjoyed the way her family interacted with each other. In this volume, we didn’t see much of the way the vampire clan interacts with each other, but I’m interested to see more.
I also found out via the author’s Instagram page that Morgana and Oz have quite a height difference, with Morgana being 5’11” and Oz being 5’6”. I was really excited by this for two reasons:
I hate the whole “female main character is so impossibly teeny tiny” trope because it’s annoying and honestly as a 6’ woman, I can’t relate.
It’s just nice to see something different.
I also happen to be ever so slightly taller than my husband, so even though our height difference isn’t as drastic, it’s still nice to see that be normalized.
The artwork was colorful and detailed. I liked the way it was drawn and I liked the way the author chose to portray certain scenes. I haven’t read this in its original format online, but I can say that I think online fans will not be disappointed when buying this volume/collection. The only critique that I have is that they decided to end the book in a bit of an odd place. I assume that they wanted to set up a bit of a cliffhanger? I would’ve appreciated a little more story, though, as it felt a tad abrupt.
All in all, I really liked this graphic novel. I’d give it about 4.8 stars out of 5 just because of the abrupt ending, but I would honestly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the genre. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
