Cute cute cute!
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape media!
I truly enjoyed this book.
This is a Christmasy second chance romance that will warm your heart in few steps:
- A pink elf costume
- A mastermind 15 years old
- Cute cats
- A man that likes to dress in orange a little too much
- A super cute and regretful MMC
This book follows the Calista, a doctor that is forced to go back to her home town after a major changes happens. She made many vows: to never wear socks, to never go back to her hometown where she was considered the wild child and to never, ever, ever even spare a look for Tristan again.
Calista will do near anything for her niece Quinn, even maybe start collaborating with the boy who broke her heart 13 years ago.
The plot it's very good, it has a little bit of everything. Romance, comedy, mystery and action.
Very recommended if your genre is second chance.
I personally am not a big fan of second chance and for me the main reason I gave this book just 3 stars was the prose.
Calista chapters were written in first person and Tristan's in third. For the audiobook this would have worked if we just have a female voice actress, but here we had also a male (with an amazing voice I might add) and I would have preferred to have also Tristan's PoV in first.

This was a little quirky and cheesy. No steam but some heat. Quick read. The characters seem unrealistic but I don’t have a high society life.

So many Christmas romance books are just too cheesy, but I thought this one was pretty great. Calista does her best to push off the romance but Tristan does a better job at winning her over. I liked that she was willing to stand her ground and that she was such a badass of a character. She fought for herself and made sure if he was coming back into her life he’d fight for her too.
🌀Synopsis
Calista is returning home to help her sister and niece after her brother in law died. Things are chaotic and this is the last place she imagined herself. Her niece needs her more than ever though and that makes her willing to do anything to help her- including moving home to face her ex.
Tristan knows he made a bad choice when he let Calista get away. He chose his family and their opinions over her and regrets that. He’s still in love with her though and thankfully they share a niece who is determined to see them back together. With a little scheming from them both, he’s able to spend time with her again. Now he just has to convince her that she can truly have it all, including the career she worked so hard for.

What a fun Christmas book! Tristan and Calista's second chance romance is beautiful. Both are thrust into a situation where they have to be around each other constantly, when in reality, they haven't set eyes on each other in over thirteen years when Tristan demolished Calista's heart with his vitriol.
This book is full of so much love - especially the love that they both have for their niece Quinn. There is also a lot of heartbreak - both current and past heartbreak for a lot of the characters in this book.
I also loved the cameo from one of Jennifer's other books - that made me squeal with happiness.

Here I thought I was getting a cute charming Christmas romance, instead my heartstrings were pulled to tears. There was also lots of swooning, Tristan and Calista’ second chance was well deserved.

This second chance, forced proximity, holiday romance was so sweet and cute! I enjoyed the story a lot, it was super unique and unlike other stories I’d read. Wayne Mitchell and Kim Churchill did a great job narrating the audio too! The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the switching back and forth between first person and third person point of view. It was super weird. Otherwise, this audio experience was good and I liked the story a lot!

Calista Monroe, former wild child, moves back to her home town as the hospital's newest doctor and everyone is in shock. Her niece, Quinn, is the whole reason she is home and of course Quinn wants nothing more than to her her Aunt Calista and Uncle Tristan(her dads brother) together. All this time, Calista has thought that Tristan did not like her and let her go because she wasn't good enough but that does not seem like the truth. He is doing everything that he can to get her back, but will he be successful.
I loved this feel good, Christmas story! Tristan was trying his best to get Calista back and I really like how he followed through with his word at the end of the book. His parents seemed like a nightmare. I am also glad that Calista was able to repair her relationship with her grandparents all the while setting a good example for her niece. Quinn did not act like a 15 year old. If the book would not have said her age, I would have assumed she was like 9. Just very immature. At the same time, her father did just die, but it seemed like more of long term immaturity than just dealing with grief. The side story of Calista figuring out the guy her sister was seeing was funny.

Dual pov/ His is 3rd pov
Second chance Ex's 13 years ago
She's ER doc
No third act breakup
Closed door
The story itself was a cute second chance romance. There wasn't any huge oh my gosh I love this moments though. Overall it was a decent which holiday read. The niece was probably my favorite part.
The narrator voicing Calista was great.
The narrator voicing Tristan I struggled with. His voice for the male was ok but I really disliked when he would act like one of the females was talking and same with the niece.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Rating: 4/5 stars
Format: ALC (Audiobook)
Narrators: Kim Churchill and Wayne Mitchell
This was my first book by Jennifer Peel and definitely won't be my last! It was also my first time listening to Kim Churchill and Wayne Mitchell narrate a book. I thought Kim Churchill was perfect for the FMC and other female characters but Wayne Mitchell was just alright! Besides that, I enjoyed the audiobook a lot and think the story is a perfect cute, cozy read for the holidays.
I adored the relationship Calista and Tristan share with their niece, Quinn. Quinn a scheming 15-year-old who desperately wants her aunt and uncle to resolve their relationship. She was my favorite character and thank goodness for her because (spoiler alert!) Calista and Tristan do end up back together! After 13 years, they finally get their happy ending.
I recommend My eX-Mas Emergency for those who like the following tropes:
-Second chance romance
-Dual POV
-Family drama
-Very clean romance (only kissing)
-Sweet aunt + niece relationship AND uncle + niece relationship
TWs: mention of death (parents and brother), and mention of cheating, ER scenarios (stroke and emergency labor)
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the chance to listen to My eX-Mas Emergency.

This was a cute holiday romcom, which I listened to over the weekend. With a basic storyline, it was cute but ultimately, it was just okay for me. Maybe I've read too many holiday books this year already so the bar is set too high. Anyway I did still enjoy it, just not as much as I had hoped.

Thirteen years ago Calista, considered the troublemaker of the town, left Aspen Lake after the boy she was very much in love with, broke her heart.
When her sister’s husband dies, leaving a distraught daughter and wife, Calista, now an ER doctor, returns to town to help her niece whom she loves like a daughter. The one person she never wanted to see again was Tristan Granger. Not only was he the one that broke her heart, but is also the brother of her deceased brother-in-law.
Tristan has regrets and he never forgave himself on how things ended between them. Even after all these years he never stopped loving her.
Winning her back will take a great deal of effort, especially since his snotty parents were always against him dating the girl from the wrong side of town.
Will these two find their way back? Will Tristan stand up for Calista this time around?
This is a story about family or lack thereof. It’s also a story about hope, new beginnings and second chances in life and love.
The narrators did a good job with the voices.
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook by Netgalley and Dreamscape. The opinions expressed are solely y my own.

This book was pretty cute for a sweet holiday romance, but it didn’t wow me.
Calista and Tristan broke up 13 years ago because he was rich and she was from the wrong side of the tracks. However, they are still unfortunately tied together because their siblings married and had a daughter.
A death in the family has brought Tristan and Calista back together and their shared niece, Quinn is determined to get them back together.
Storyline- the beginning started out really cute and promising. but then it dragged out for too long. I stopped caring about what was going to happen when I hit the 50% mark.
I also thought Quinn was approx. 9 years old until they said she had her learners permit. She acted and spoke like a whiny child.
Audiobook portion-
The narrator voicing Calista was great.
The narrator voicing Tristan was not. I didn’t like his voice for the male parts and I REALLY disliked when he would act like one of the females was talking. It was the worst.
The book was just eh for me.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really appreciate it!

A heartfelt, small town, dual POV, second chance romance that sees ER doctor, Calista Monroe returning home after her sister's cheating husband dies, leaving her niece Quinn in need of extra family love over the holidays.
The only catch to coming back is that Calista now has to get used to seeing her ex, Tristan (who is also Quinn's uncle) all the time. Regretting how he ended things with Calista, Tristan is determined to convince her to give him a second chance.
Full of all the vintage holiday feels and lots of cameos from past couples, this was great on audio and definitely a standout for me this season! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!
Steam level: kissing only

this was a deep yet Suite, 2nd chance, romance. Calista and Tristan definitely have a tumultuous past, plagued with immaturity and recklessness, as well as some deeply ingrained classist issues of the community. I wish that the issues of class status and miscommunication developed a bit more. It was just kind of stated as a fact, and not really flushed out, but it was easy to feel the pain and resentment that it had stirred for many years. I felt for Calista she tried to navigate a place that cost her so much hurt and misunderstanding. Tristan definitely had some begging for forgiveness to do, and I will say he did it very well. He was very apologetic and regretful for what his immature, younger self did, and did nothing but try to be a calming, loving, peaceful presence for Calista as she struggled to accept all these new realities. overall story was for a romance, definitely showing some of the crueler sides of humanity, but it also showed so much love and family and forgiveness. The way, Calista and Tristan were able to give some semblance of peace and safety to their niece, was always their first priority, and I loved that about the story. Definitely made the magic of the holiday season come to life.
thank you for the arc :)
