Welcome back to Rebel Blue Ranch! Oh how I missed the Ryder Family! I love Ada and Wes so much and I can read about them forever! The vibe is big city girl moves to the country and golden retriever/he falls first. Ada is a force to be reckoned with and I love her energy! I really loved getting in closer with the Ryder family and get to know the ranch! This story was easy to follow and written incredibly well. This was one of my most anticipated books this year and I have to say it did not disappoint. The characters feel incredibly real and the sense of place and belonging you feel as a reader truly pulls you in. Also you combine a hot cowboy, a cute dog and some Taylor Swift references?? You bet I’ll be saddled 🥂
Pick up our copy of Swift and Saddled IMMEDIATELY!
Thank you Lyla for welcoming us to this beautiful world and I can’t wait to explore more of it!! Thank you Random House and Net Galley for allowing me to read an advanced readers copy of this novel!
I absolutely adored this book 🥺 Ada and West were exactly what the other person needed and it was a joy to read how their relationship progressed! Wes was the hottest and sweetest cowboy and I just wanted to give Ada the biggest hug. Not only has Lyla Sage now written 2(!) fantastic couples, she approaches the topic of mental health in a very sensitive manner and creates some of the most realistic characters I have read about! Lyla Sage has quickly become one of my auto-buy authors 🫶🏼
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 Stars
Ada is looking for her new start. She is looking for anything to escape her life in San Francisco, her marriage that didn’t work, and the old her. A project close to her old college friend sounded perfect, Wyoming would be her new start, and the project at Rebel Blue Ranch would be her big break. What she did not expect was to have one hot and steamy kiss with cowboy. Will her flight beat out her fight? Or will her cowboy be the one thing to finally lock her down.
I was honestly not expecting I would love Ada as much as I did. I found her annoying at some points, but I felt like I was cheering for her more and more. I did not get the black cat vibes at first, but as the book developed I saw the guards more and more clearly. I loved her fighting all of her instincts. And Wes!!! Ugh I loved him! I thought his depression was going to play a bigger role in the story, but his golden retriever vies were completely on point! Right on point with Kai from Caught Up by Liz Tomforde, but much more Golden Retriever.
Loved returning to Rebel Blue Ranch, I felt like I got a much better look into the Ryder family, and the Ryder dynamic. While I feel like Done & Dusted set the stage more, I think Swift & Saddled dove more into the dynamic of everyone. (It has also been like 6 months since I have read Done & Dusted). Swift and Saddled made such a bigger impact on me, and was a little more hard hitting then the first book in the series.
Oh my goodness! Is it even possible to love this story even more than the first book?! I loved the strong characteristics of Ada and the realness of Wes’s mental health struggles. Their dynamic together just worked so well.
I was captivated from the very beginning so much so I read this in one sitting.
I can’t wait for the next book already.
I was so excited when I saw that Swift and Saddled was on NetGalley, and even more excited when I got approved to read it. Swift and Saddled follows Weston, Emmy's brother and Ada. Their dynamic and history might be different, and take us on a different ride than Done and Dusted, but it is still an addicting and heartwarming romance that got me hooked from page 1. I just loved seeing that world and the Ryder family expand, and Ada was a great addition to that the family we have already come to love.
Ada and Weston's story was a beautiful balance of vulnerability and growth, of learning to trust in a way yourself and others. It was just great to see Ada's journey to rediscovering herself after her failed marriage and to see her slowly open herself up to Weston. I just loved those two together, and it's hard to say who's story I liked better between them and Luke and Emmy.
I'm really loving Lyla Sage's world , and I already can't wait to get my hand on her next book. She's definitely going to be on my must buy list from now on. I've devoured both Done and Dusted as well as this book, and I would be surprise if what she writes next would be different. I definitely recommend this one if you enjoy some heartwarming romance.
Thank you Random House and NetGalley for the eARC!
"Damn. I guess men were built different in Meadowlark."-Ada Hart
How can I move to the Rebel Blue Ranch!? This book was so good. I loved following the story of Ada and Wes. I feel like this story was so vulnerable, being able to see characters dealing with depression, divorce, finding themselves, growth. I found myself relating to Wes so much. Also Wes with a baby calf...I can't! I found this book to be so much different than Done and Dusted in the best way and this series is quickly taking over my heart. I thought the recipe for the spinach pie at the end was such a cute touch. Also the Epilogue.... it was everything I needed!
Thank you to NetGalley & Random House Publishing Group for this ARC!
I really loved Swift and Saddled! I enjoyed it even more than the first book I think. Wes and Ada were both great characters and I loved both of them so much. Wes’ explanation of his depression particularly hit home for me. Definitely would recommend!
Loved it. Such a fun follow up sequel!!! Spicy dreams! Wes and Ada!!! The growth, the development. Cannot wait for book 3. Call me in my cowboy era.
* Thank you NetGalley & publisher for an e-copy of Swift and Saddled.
Swift and Saddled follows Weston Ryder and Ada. Ada is a designer who wants to get out of California, her friend Teddy suggests her up Weston to remodel his new project a guest ranch. Wes is trying to find his place on the family ranch among his siblings. Ada first night in town she runs into Wes at the local bar without realizing who is his she gives in to her impulse to live on the edge. After that night Wes can’t get her out of his mind. But when Ada finds out who he is she determined to keep things professional.
Wes is the sweetest cinnamon roll to live. He is so kind and careful and respectful to Ada. I felt a great kindred to Ada, so I was so happy when she started letting Wes in and developing friendships.
I loved this book, a great sequel to the Done and dusted. I can’t wait to get my hands on book 3.
Omg I loved this! Wes and Ada were so cute! I love seeing more from the other characters as well. But Wes… swoon talk about the golden retriever boyfriend!!! I’m in my cowboy romance era! Ye haw!!!
Swift and Saddled by Lyla Sage is the follow up book to Done and Dusted. The author takes us back to Rebel Blue with the Ryders and I can’t get enough! The MMC Wes is a golden retriever cowboy that battles depression and trying to find his place in his amazing family. Wes has dreamed of opening up a bed and breakfast in the old homestead house on the Rebel Blue Ranch, and has finally got the go ahead to remodel. In walks Ada, the interior designer Wes hired, who is running from her life in San Fransciso hoping to start a new life. Sparks fly from their very first meeting, Will Wes be able to knock down all the walls Ada has put up? Will Ada be able to accept that people can love her for who she is and that she can finally fell like she belongs somewhere.
This series is an easy, cute, and heart warming read that I highly recommend. The author does such a good job with the dialogue between all the characters, She had me cracking up all through the book, I love her writing style and can’t wait to read Gus and Teddy’s story in the 3rd book Lost and Lassoed.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
If you loved the first book in this series, Done and Dusted, you are going to LOVE this one! Swift and Saddled follows the relationship of Ada and Wes, and has all the same spice, humor, and awww moments. I had a way easier time connecting to these characters, because the personalities of both Ada and Wes really shown through this time around. It made the story more relatable and real to me as a reader, as well as easy to digest. I loved this sequel and am so excited for the THIRD book in this series, Lost and Lassoed, which follows Teddy and Gus!
First and foremost thank you @netgalley and @randomhouse for the eARC!

I got to go back to Rebel Blue and it still feels like HOME. Lyla knocked it out of the park, I flew through this book just as I did with Done and Dusted. Lyla Sage is an auto-buy author for me from this point on, the Rebel Blue Ranch series feels like a warm hug. This has quickly become a comfort series for me and I will always hold it close to my heart!
Wes is the biggest sweetheart I think I’ve ever known. He is always taking care of everyone around him, he’s a middle child that feels as if he needs to prove himself and just wants something of his own. Wes struggles with Major Depression Disorder and takes medication. I absolutely loved that representation for an MMC because it’s not spoken about enough. Wes is a Golden Retriever Cowboy who wears chaps, rescues and bottle feeds baby cows, what more could you want?
Ada is afraid of commitment due to being hurt by her ex husband, he controlled every aspect of her life and left her without a word. Ada struggles with self-doubt and she has trouble connecting with others but just wants to belong and fit in somewhere. Our precious FMC went on such a journey in this book, I loved watching all the walls she had built up slowly peel back, crash & collapse. Seeing her get to experience true love and friendship made my heart swell.
Wes and Ada’s love story is so soft and sweet. I adored them together. I probably cried on and off for the last 20% of this book because of how real and vulnerable it all felt! I will think about Wes & Ada always, they took a lil piece of my heart.
The anticipation for Lost and Lassoed is real, I can’t wait to go back to Meadowlark, Wyoming and visit Rebel Blue Ranch. I need Grumpy Gus and Teddy in my veins! That little sneak peak had me so excited!
This one hit me like a ton of bricks. Ada and Wes really did feel like coming home.
I can’t imagine their story coming about any other way.
The way that we were able to see bits and pieces of Ada become one with Baby Blue and Wes. Ugh these two have my heart.
I can’t wait to come back for the next one.
Pls send me to the ranch.(pls pls pls)
4.5 round up 🩷
WOW, okay so i dont even really know where to start with this one. i think firstly i want to say congrats to lyla for this follow up to d&d! not that i have the experience of writing/publishing a book but i feel like it has to be extremely hard to put out an amazing debut that becomes an absolute sensation in the romance book world and put out an equally amazing follow-up!
secondly, i have never been to wyoming. nor have i felt the need to visit wyoming. but i sure as shit now NEED to move to wyoming forever 😂
let me tell you the way this book starts out - i was GIGGLING, i started reading it at the bar, like 4 or 5 high noons in just GIGGLING lmao 😂
after the fast pace of d&d i 100% did not expect s&s to be a slow burn, it threw me off just the tiniest bit as i went from d&d straight into s&s. HOWEVER, i am absolutely obsessed with how emotionally vulnerable this book was while still keeping the same charm and funniness that d&d had. watching these two fall for each other despite their mental health issues and their “baggage” was really something else 🥹
(just a psa side note, s&s is less spicy than d&d was)
weston ryder is the very definition of book boyfriend, he has such a big heart and i was so obsessed with how he loved ada for who she was. everything about his love for her was so damn beautiful 😭
as a black cat girl myself ada was very relatable and it was everything to see the way all of the people surrounding her at rebel blue never talked poorly about why she acts the way she does, they all just constantly tried to surround her with love and to show her they cared and wanted to be around her.
also, probably my favorite thing, this book is SOOOOO midnight rain x daylight coded it’s INSANE. it was stuck in my head while reading this almost the entire time 😩
its actually really insane to me how quickly i got attached to this series and these characters considering i started d&d on the 28th and finished s&s on the 2nd. i absolutely cannot wait until book 3 already (and the potential possible book 4????? 👀🤭) i think this will absolutely become a comfort series of mine moving forward, everything about these books is just *chefs kiss*, zero complaints.
my favorite part absolutely has to be the callback at the end of this book, when you know youll know. it MELTED my heart, i just will never be the same seriously 😭
Weston Ryder, my oh my. You want to talk about book boyfriends? Put him on your list.
Weston is a hardworking, loving son and brother, who is trying to find his place. Along comes Ada who’s trying to accomplish the same, in her own way. Sparks fly, boundaries are respected, mental health is discussed, and for some reason my cherry on top - he teaches her how to drive a stick shift.
For anyone who’s read either/both books - how great is the dad?! I just love him to bits.
I was lucky enough to be approved for a galley last week and I finished just in time for tomorrow’s publication date. I definitely recommend reading Done and Dusted first, for continuity’s sake, but there’s also another great book boyfriend there. Trust me, you will want to check this one out! Lyla Sage has done it again 💖
Thanks to @thedialpress , @authorlylasage , and @netgalley for an early look!
It’s hard to write a review without giving any spoilers.
I thought it was cute, I love a good romcom, it would make a fantastic movie truly. My least favorite trope in a romance book is the girl that’s like “uhhh does he like me, he must not because of XYZ” miscommunication trope is not for me which makes me stop feeling invested in the characters.
Laughing fits, pie dates, and baby cow rescues, what more could you need??? Ada and Wes’ story was so sweet and Sage has a way of making her characters so real and relatable, maybe even a little too relatable at times. It’s a good balance of fun, tender, and spicy. I love the family orientation of the series, I’m a sucker for a close, loving family especially when there’s a dad like Amos.
I did like and feel more connected to Emmy and Luke from Done and Dusted, I was absolutely thrilled how much they were involved in this story too. As well as all the interactions with Teddy, Gus, Cam and Riley. It’s more than a romance, there’s a lot of significance put on the friendships and family ties. It’s about a community, a family, not just two people. That ending had me in happy tears. Thank you to Net Galley, Lyla Sage, and Random House Publishing Group for the E-ARC.
I can’t even begin to express how excited I am for Lost and Lassoed, Gus and Teddy’s story!! November seriously cannot come soon enough!
Tropes: dual POV, hooked from the first look, black cat golden retriever, cowboy rom, workplace rom, forced proximity, depression representation, found family
"For the first time in a long time, I wondered what it might be like to be not just liked, but loved."
I'm falling more and more in love with Rebel Blue Ranch! I read this in a day because I could not put it down.
Ada is finally coming into her own after leaving a toxic marriage and lands in Meadowlark for a design project that will change her career. The first night there, she goes to a bar and has a magnetic connection with a cowboy and they end up making out before she runs out of there thinking she's never going to see him again. The next morning, she shows up at the site and discovers that the guy from the night before is her new boss.
What I loved about this book:
-Ada is a hard worker and has overcome so much since her divorce
-Wes is perfection
-There's a baby cow
-And a dog
-Total black cat and golden retriever vibes
-"Sweetheart"
-Rebel Blue Ranch
-More Amos
-More insight into the other loveable side characters
But, honestly, what I enjoyed the most was how Wes' depression was presented. It wasn't a major part of the plot or anything, but it truly just showed how it's his reality and something he has to work on. It's not downplayed and he's not "cured". He mentions how he has found a good combination of things to do to keep it at bay, but he knows that it can easily come back, "Depression wasn't a logical disease. It was an unexpected cold front in the middle of July. It was impossible to predict, which meant that I spent much of my time worrying about when the other shoe was going to drop. Not if, but when I would sink into another dark hole and have to decide to claw my way out of it".
Highly recommend if you enjoyed Done and Dusted! I can't wait until the next one!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
Ada Hart arrives in Meadowlark ready to start the most important project of her career. She failed out of her interior design program and after her short-lived marriage, she only trusts herself to build herself back up from rock-bottom.
She meets a charming cowboy in a bar, but their connection takes an unexpected turn when she discovers he's her new boss on the project at his Wyoming ranch.
Weston Ryder is thrilled that he didn’t lose this mystery woman. Ada is determined to keep things professional, raising questions about whether they can resist the pull of romance during their project.
This book felt like a warm hug and I was ecstatic to receive an advanced reader copy of Swift and Saddled.
I am OBSESSED with the Ryder family. The characters in this book formed such a great connection that made me feel like I was part of their world immersed in the warm dynamics of their family.
This book has some of my favorite tropes:
Forced Proximity
Boss/Employee - Workplace Romance
Small Town
Thanks so much to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Lyla Sage, you have done it again. I already can’t wait for book 3.
