I did not think I would feel so emotional while reading Swift & Saddled. I absolutely loved Done & Dusted and could not wait for the rest of the books in this series to come out and man, I am so happy the next story was Wes and Ada.
Ada is an interior designer who has been trying to prove herself since failing out of interior design school and was lucky enough to be connected with Rebel Blue Ranch through her old college roommate, Teddy. When first getting to Wyoming, Ada stops at the Devil’s Boot bar and locks eyes with a handsome cowboy with dimples and green eyes. Ada and him share an unforgettable kiss in the back of the bar but get interrupted fairly quickly. The next day, Ada shows up at Rebel Blue Ranch and meets Weston Ryder. Her new boss and the handsome cowboy from the night before with the dimples she can’t resist.
I felt such a connection to these two characters in different ways. Ada’s internal monologue really hit close to home at times when it came to her insecurities and Wes was such a gentle soul that cared a lot about everyone around him and seemed so happy but also was struggling with depression. I think this book had a lot of important messages on mental health and just making sure that you’re living your life for you and not how you think someone else believes you should live your life.
I loved that we were able to still see aspects of Emmy & Luke’s relationship from Done & Dusted and I loved learning more about the other members of the Ryder family. I will always adore a book with the found family aspect because it’s always just so beautiful that all these characters found love and a sense of belonging with one another and seeing them grow.
Lyla Sage, you’ve done it again! Thank you for writing and for making me feel all the feels, it’s always special when you can connect with a character 🫶🏼
Definitely run to your kindles/bookstores when this releases, you won’t regret it! 💜
This book is everything. 5 stars is not enough stars. After reading, loving, and crying over this book I realized there was literally nothing I would change about the story, the characters, or the setting. A perfect book deserves a perfect star rating.
Done and Dusted was a standout read of 2023. With such a strong start to a series, I didn’t know how Rebel Blue Ranch could improve. This family just keeps getting better and better. The story centers around the members of an incredibly loving but also welcoming family. The Ryder Family has a way of collecting people and bringing them into both the farm and fold. While there may only be one sibling left to receive a story, the family is far from being paired off.
Ada and Weston are the ultimate black cat and golden retriever duo. We’ve got our city girl with a chip on her shoulder. She’s got a real fear of connection and being stuck in one place. Then we’ve got our country boy who’s had nothing but love and stability modeled for him his whole life. The local bar being such an institution to the town of Meadowlark, yet not having a phone number or reliable information on Google is just so classic. It makes for the perfect landmark for a tryst with a stranger to kick off this story.
I’m just so proud of these characters. The emotional intimacy that they build over time just speaks to author Lyla Sage’s writing ability. I want to live in this world and be a part of this friend group. These girls show up for one another, push each other when they need to, but also know when to back off and just be there and support one other. When I tell you I CRIED the happiest tears for the last 15% of the book over how much I loved these characters and their family it’s not an exaggeration. I’m pretty sure I was stifling sobs. I look forward to this series continuing with Teddy’s story.
Tropes:
- mental health rep
- time limit
- small town
- cowboy x city girl
In the incredible follow up to Done and Dusted, we are transported back to the adorable town of Meadowlark, Wyoming and back to Rebel Blue Ranch where we encounter the sexy cowboy Weston Ryder and the city girl he has hired to make over his old family home, Ada Hart.
The pair find themselves entangled in each other, unable to stay away, despite their best interests (but much to the advantage of those of us reading). Lyla Sage has once again provided us with in depth characters we are exited to read about and a charming country town that you never want to leave.
Lyla really did it again! I was so freaking excited to get to read this I loved done and dusted and swift and saddled was even better I love their relationship and the mental health representation was amazing to see and showing Ada finding her place among friends with other women was really sweet. And her inner dialogue was easy to relate to. The banter between all the guys and girls was so good. I love Wes he is so sweet and loving to Ada, he is smart, kind, and patient with her he was exactly what she needed. And she was everything he needed. I love how she came to do a job and found a family ❤️ This book was well written and thoughtful all the way through I loved it and I can’t wait to read lost and lassoed! ❤️❤️
Yet again, an incredible book. Lyla Sage is a force to be reckoned with. I found myself giggling out loud, and shedding actual tears by the end of this book. I cannot wait for everyone to read how good this one is.
Ada Hart is the new girl in town. From the minute she steps into the local bar she can feel eyes on her. She’s here for a remodel job, but it does nothing to make her feel like she belongs in Meadowlark. As she takes in her surroundings she can’t help but notice that there must be something in the water, because all these handsome cowboys are built different. Especially the one with the deep dimples that catches her eye.
Meadowlark is the type of town where everyone knows each other. So Wes is surprised to find a mysterious new beauty hanging out at his best friends bar. He’s never felt this type of pull before. One thing leads to another and before he knows it, he has her pinned to the bar’s office door. The way she’s melting underneath him is enough to take his breath away, until they’re interrupted and she leaves in a hurry.
Ada rushes off with intentions of never seeing the cowboy again, but fate has other plans when she shows up at her job site and sees who her new boss is.
I am absolutely in love with this book. 😭🥺✨ This series is so very beautiful as a whole. But this book? This one was truly magical. It’s so blissfully sweet and the characters in this book are both so near and dear to my heart. As we got to know the main characters, I immediately felt a kinship with them. Ada and Wes both are graced with very different (and very relatable) mental hurdles, and I LOVE the way they were handled. It wasn’t something they dwelled on constantly. And I liked that their struggles were part of them without their flaws being seen as something that needed to be fixed. Instead they were both so accepting towards one another, and I was melting in a pile of happy goo.
I truly love these characters. I love their friends. I’m so invested in everyone’s stories (and also just nosy lol— I wanna know about everyone). But most importantly, I’m so very excited about which couple’s story is next!!! The sneak peek at the end of this ARC had me squealing. It’s going to be such a fun ride!!!
I don’t even know what else to say besides, please read this book. If you’re in your cowboy era, this book will feed your soul. It’s cute, funny, sweet, sexy and everything I love about a small town romance. AND THERES A CUTE DOG! What more could you need out of a romance?
I’m so thankful to NetGalley, Dial Press/Random House Publishing Group, and Lyla Sage for the copy of this ARC. I wasn’t expecting it at all and I feel so unbelievably lucky to get to do what I do.
What to expect:
Black cat x golden retriever
Great characters
Meddling Amos
Found family
Small town
Dual POV

I absolutely adored this book!
Wes and Ada had such amazing chemistry starting in Chapter 1 and I loved watching as it continued to grow throughout the book! The pacing was amazing and I flew through it! I really loved getting to know the Ryder family! Wes was absolutely swoon worthy! I love how the book also explores a bit about the struggle with making friends when you’re older from Ada’s perspective. While this is the second book in the series, I had no problem following what happened without having read the first book! I can’t wait to go back and to the first one to learn more about Emmy and Luke!
I loved this! Ada and Wes were wonderful characters and they had sizzling chemistry with each other right out of the gate. It was fun watching them try to keep things professional when it was obvious that it was just a matter of time.
After loving the first book, I was so excited for this second installment but also a little nervous that it wouldn't live up to the first one but it totally did! I was hooked right fro the start and I can't wait to read more books set in Meadowlark. This series has become such a comfort read for me.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Absolutely adored this book! Wes and Ada seemed just made for each other because they were able to be the light when the other's own insecurities would weigh them down. I felt so much kinship to Ada in how others perceived her and how she wore that opinion like armor...and Wes was just the perfect man to see beneath her mask. The author has such an incredible ability to write in the everyday challenges of mental illness in characters that are so relatable.
The men of Rebel Blue Ranch fall hard and I'm here for it - when I tell you, I canNOT wait for Teddy and Gus's book!!!
4⭐️ Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for the ARC!
This was super cute read!! Also the cover is STUNNING! It was quick and easy to get into the story! It was a lot of fun being back in the universe. I wish the book was a little longer for more the tension and angst between the two main characters! I liked the depression representation, and the way it was talked about! Also the crumbs of Teddy and Gus have me giggling and kicking my feet! I cannot wait for their book!!
Ok I’m so excited to talk about this book. First off, thank you so much Random House Publishing, NetGalley, and Lyla Sage for the ARC. This has been my favorite ARC read to date, and one of my favorite reads of the year so far. This series works well as a stand alone but I highly recommend reading the whole series to get a full love and appreciation for the other characters and their story.
I am OBSESSED with the Rebel Blue Ranch series to say the least, and not only am I going through withdrawals but I am fully craving the next book in the series already. I’ve said this before, and I will say it again… one word. Cowboys. I absolutely adored everything about the male main character Wes and will protect him at all costs as well as my appreciation for creating a black cat female main character who was relatable in so many ways coming from a black cat girlie myself.
“You say you’re not nice, or warm, or bright, or any of these other stupid fucking words that people use to describe the sun, but I never asked you to be the sun.”
“I would rather have the moon anyway.” - Wes Ryder
One thing about Lyla’s writing that I appreciate and think is incorporated incredibly well, is the subject of mental health and the way she adds it as a layer into her characters is perfection. I cannot wait to see what else Lyla has in store for us for future books. I highly recommend this series if you’re looking for a balance of a sweet and sexy cowboy romance that feels cozy like home.
I’m officially in my cowboy romance era. YEEHAW.
ARC Review!
*This review is true to my feelings and thoughts towards this book and are not influenced by anyone*
I really liked this book. Like really really really liked it. It is definitely going to be in my top 5 for 2024!
Ada Hart has been through a lot. With failing out of her interior design program and a failed marriage, she is ready to put all that in the past and focus on herself and her business. When Rebel Blue Ranch hires her, she is determined to make this project her best one yet! If only the road to success was just that easy...
Ada runs into Wes Ryder at the local dive bar, and they share a very hot moment which comes to an abrupt halt. Little did she know that the stranger whose lips she can still feel, is her new boss. With this project being a fresh start for Ada and a dream come true for Wes, can they resist the attraction between them?
It has been a long time since I finished a book within 24 hours. Did I put off studying for my exam for this book? Yes! Would I do it again? 1000% YES!! This book felt a little different to me and I mean that in a good way. I really liked the plot line, the pacing was just right and the writing was great but I think what really made me love it was how much I could relate to Ada. She is the second FMC that I have ever been able to relate to so much. There were so many points in this book where I was like "Damn, I literally have these same exact thoughts so often too". Were there also many times I started crying while reading? YES. Many of the insecurities that Ada had are ones that I also have. It's so easy for me to fall into a rabbit hole of seeing the worst in a good situation because of what I've been through in the past. I really liked how Ada was able to recognize when she was letting her fears ruin her happy moments and worked towards pushing past those fears and accepting that something bad isn't always going to happen. I also LOVED Ada and Wes's relationship. Wes is such a gentle soul and he is a man with so much patience. I could definitely learn a thing or two about that from him LOL. Wes gave Ada everything that she was missing in her life and showed her a brand new world. They are literally perfect for each other and are now one of my favourite couples!
Thank you NetGalley and Dial Press for this ARC in return for my honest review!
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I read Done and Dusted and for me, Swift and Saddled resonated with me more. I’m in love with Wes and Ada.
Their first encounter at the Devil’s Boot was PERFECTION!!
Ads is in town as she is hired to be the interior designer to Rebel Blue Ranch. She meets Wes at The Devil’s Boot bar not knowing that he is actually her boss-the lead at Rebel Blue.
I love me a small town romance with JUST the right amount of spice. Their relationship was believable and you can’t help but root for them.
We have anxiety/depression rep which was done well. We even have a cow named Loretta!! I mean how cute!
I love how close the family is and how accepting they are of Ada right away. She’s not used to friendships so this was heartwarming to see.
All in all I really enjoyed this book and will definitely continue on to book three!! I can’t wait!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC to read before release day! 🙏🏻
Ever since I fell in love with Emmy and Brooks in the first book, I couldn't wait for this one. I immediately had a soft spot for Wes and his family and loved the addition of Ada. I liked the unique storyline and the subtle mention of male mental health. I am a sucker for a forced proximity, slow burn and this book delivered. Also the "no third act breakup" was a plus. I highly recommend if you love small town cowboy romance's where he falls first!
incredible! an awesome continuation of a fantastic series. i love getting to live in this world, and can’t wait to continue!!!
Honey, I’m home!! And Home is Rebel Blue Ranch! I absolutely loved Done and Dusted and I am so glad that Lyla’s second book delivered. It was so great to be back in this world with these characters—it’s truly just the best. I related Ada’s character in so many ways and thought she was the perfect addition to this fantastic found family. Wes is a tier one book boyfriend and I will fight anyone who disagrees 🤷🏽♀️ Be sure to add this one to your tbr!
I was so excited when I heard there'd be a second Rebel Blue book! Done and Dusted was one of my favorite reads last year - I loved Emmy and Brooks' story so much. Cowboy romance is not something I ever saw in my genre cards, but here I am, eating it up.
Lyla's writing style makes her books so bingeable and I tore through Swift and Saddled in hours. This is Weston and Ada's story, told in their dual pov. While I wanted more from their romance, I enjoyed the representation they brought to the table. Wes struggles with depression and his descriptions of how it affects him felt real, not like a romanticized version of mental illness. Ada is recently divorced and a bit of a loner who learns to let people into her life and feel at home in an unexpected place.
Overall I enjoyed Swift and Saddled and am looking forward to Gus's story next!
Lyla Sage does it again with an absolutely adorable and spicy, cozy cowboy romance!
I just love this little small town and Rebel Blue Ranch to pieces. Expect cute encounters with Waylon, hilarious banter with the siblings and heartfelt guidance from Amos. ❤️
I really loved Ada's character in this book. Although the third act break up bothered me a bit, I understood it. I could really relate with her and the toxic marriage that she got herself out of. Wes is an absolute sweetheart with a heart of gold, and I loved the depression rep, but I still felt very similar to the first one where these topics stayed very surface level and had the potential to dive so much deeper into.
When I tell you that the third book is going to be absolutely everything we have all been waiting for tho, OH MY GOODNESS! ❤️❤️
Well this was fun! I think I enjoyed this slightly more than Done and Dusted. I found Ada to be very relatable as an outsider coming into this ranch full of people who have known each other their whole lives. I liked getting to know Wes more. He didn’t seem that interesting in the first book, but he really shines here. And I continued to love every Teddy and Gus interaction. I can’t wait for their book!
Is it weird that I want a prequel about Amos? I know it would be sad, but it would also be sweet. I love all the characters introduced in this series, and would love for it to continue!
4.5/5 stars! the way that Lyla can write tension between couples is IMPECABLE! i really enjoyed going back to Rebel Blue Ranch. this being the second book for Lyla, i still see the way her writing is flourishing and getting even better! i cannot wait to continue the series!
Thank you to the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Before I read Done and Dusted, I really had interest in cowboy romances. But there’s just something about Sage’s writing that absolutely pulled me. I read Done and Dusted in a day and immediately requested the ARC for Swift and Saddled. And I’ll tell ya what, I think I love Ada and West even more than Brooks and Emmy. There’s just something about the way they interact with each other that I absolutely loved. Five stars, no question
