I'm so glad that I got the chance to read the ARC of Swift and Saddled!
Lyla Sage has done it again! I really enjoyed Done and Dusted, but I loved Swift and Saddled. I couldn't put it down! This was easily a 4.5 star read for me.
I loved the tropes in this book (boss x employee, forced proximity, cowboy and small town romance)and I enjoyed this story from the beginning to the end. Ada and Wes are adorable and I loved both of their characters. I also liked the growth from the other characters in the book.
Book covers are normally not very important to me, but I think it's important to note that I am in love with the covers for the Rebel Blue Ranch series so far!
I cannot wait for Lost and Lassoed. I'm so excited continue this journey that Lyla is writing!
Steamy! This cowboy fantasy was elevated by discussions of mental health, self-love, and the importance of healthy relationships. The setting felt very real and vibrant. 4 Stars,
“‘Hands on the mirror, sweetheart,’ I said into her ear, and then I bit her neck.
Ada leaned forward and her palms landed on the mirror just before our eyes met in the reflection.
‘Spread your legs.’”

ARC Review! I was so incredibly lucky to have received Swift and Saddled on NetGalley! I have been looking forward to this book since I finished Done and Dusted a few months ago. I was beyond thrilled to dive back into the world of Rebel Blue Ranch. Thank you so much to NetGalley and to Lyla Sage for writing these two!
🤠
Wes Ryder has been dying to prove his worth on Rebel Blue Ranch, his family farm, and it comes in the form of renovating a large home on the property into a guest house. Enter, Ada Hart, an interior designer who is trying to rebuild her confidence post a painful divorce. The heat is immediately on for these two, until they learn that Wes will be Ada’s boss for the forseeable future. Pining, angst, female friendships, cowboy brotherhood, and a whole lot of love wove this into a book I would recommend to any romance lover!

I had a few critiques on this book that I am hoping get fixed in post production. I felt like Ada wasn’t as fully fleshed out as she could have been. I was hoping to hear more about her former marriage, her mother which there seemed to be trauma with, her personal resistance and internal struggle with entering a new relationship, it all felt very fast paced. Alternatively, I really loved Wes. He felt super developed and I really felt I knew what was going on with him. I was sad there weren’t more moments between Ada and the Ryder siblings, and I will always kill for more Teddy and Gus. I think there’s a lot of small things to work on, for instance, who was Dusty and what was his purpose? I thought he was gonna flirt with Ada or Teddy. I also was wondering why we didn’t get to see Ada and Wes ride a horse together since it got brought up a few times. I also thought there would be more with the phone call from Ada’s husband. Just little things that just another pass over would fix. The world building and setting are seriously so enjoyable. I adore Rebel Blue Ranch, and that I feel like is the strongest part. I felt like I’m there when I read it. I also am obsessed with the spice scenes, of which there can always be more in my opinion but that is a personal preference.
🌹
I am beyond grateful I got to read this. The setting, their banter, the relationship, were all so incredible. There were a few editorial things I caught, but overall I was so invested with the story, I’m willing to bank it will be fixed after another round of edits. I will think about this book for a while, especially the mirror scene. Definitely the mirror scene. 4.5/5 ⭐️!

Lyla has outdone herself with this one. Wes and Ada have my whole heart, and I loved getting to head back to Meadowlark. I’m so excited for another trip soon.
I loved "Swift and Saddled." Funny, spicy, and surprisingly heartfelt, it's an excellent follow-up to the first in the series, "Done and Dusted." Lyla Sage crafts dynamic, interesting characters and, let's face it, I am a sucker for books set in Wyoming, Montana, or Alaska.
"Swift and Saddled" is a relatively quick a read with just enough spice to make it interesting.
Slightly off topic: you *shouldn't* judge a book by its cover, but it would be remiss to not acknowledge the unique and clever covers of the Rebel Blue books' series. Eye catching, colorful, different- bravo to the designer, I love them.
I really enjoyed this title, even more than the first in the series. I love reading books where the characters have real life issues, and this book definitely delivered on that front. I am excited to see how the series continues. Loved Ada and Wes as characters and how he supported her.
really liked this one! cowboys are having their moment, and i loved wes as a mmc - he's thoughtful, hardworking, kind and the depression rep was well done. ada is a bit prickly to begin with, but it's so satisfying to almost gain her trust throughout the story. i loved the focus on her finding more female friends and her passion for her work. this one has a lot of heart to it and is a great follow up to done and dusted.
Oh how I loved being back in Meadowlark and on Rebel Blue Ranch!
Lyla Sage is a master of character studies. I always find myself so invested in her characters that I physically cannot put the book down.
I really identified with Ada, especially about her commentary on friendships. She really made me feel seen. Wes was so understanding, and their love story was so tender.
I read this in one sitting, and I’m already chomping at the bit to be back at Rebel Blue Ranch. Thank you for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!
Rating: 4/5
Warnings: emotionally abusive partner (in past), depression
Steam: 3/5
Tropes: workplace, small town, it’s just a hookup
Thank you to Random House/Dial Press and Netgalley for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
And welcome back to our Cowboy era and Blue Rebel Ranch.
Swift and Saddled was a quick read that still packed a punch. I loved seeing the elements of not only the romance but found family.
Ada and Wes were sweet and spicy. I loved how tender Wes was and the representation shown with his depression. Ada was fierce, authentic and loyal and I loved how gooey she was in the inside. I was waiting for her to find her home in people and found family. And she got that.
Can we have Teddy and Gus now? I need this enemies to lovers so bad!!
Absolutely adorable! I loved this second book in the Rebel Blue Ranch series. It was a quick small-town romance read that was swoony and sweet. This is for those who like found family, cowboys, and just overall cuteness. I can't wait to read the next in this series! And also, these covers are amazing; keep them coming.
Swift and Saddled
(Rebel Blue Ranch, #2)
Lyla Sage
5⭐️
She’s the city girl who refuses to be saddled with a man. He’s the cowboy who wants her anyway.
OMG Lyla Sage what do you put in these books!? I literally cannot get enough of the Rebel Blue Ranch.
Ada and Wes were pure perfection as individuals as well as a couple. Their story was everything I could have hoped for. A soft hearted cowboy who cares so sweetly you can’t hope but swoon, and has a mouth that will make you 🥵. I adored Ada and could see parts of myself in her. A bit of a cynic, likes to be in control, and hesitant to trust. I love, love, loved seeing these two come together and watching them grow.
Awww being back at the Rebel Blue Ranch was even better the second time. Sage has created the best cast of lovable characters! Swift and Saddled has me even more in love with each and every side characters. I think Amos is still one of my favorites. 🥰
What I loved;
🤠 Cowboy Romance
🤠 Small-Town
🤠 Ryder Family
🤠 Mental Health Rep
Pub Date: 3/5/24. Thank you so much to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest reveiw. I loved it so much and cannot wait for Teddy and Gus’s story.
Please read this series.
You might be thinking, "cowboy/western romance is weird." I promise it's not. It had me totally invested from beginning to end.
Lyla Sage keeps making relatable characters and beautiful stories. Personally, I would put her writing up there with Tessa Bailey. In order words, this books reads like a romcom movie.
I can't wait for book #3 so see what's going on with Teddy and Gus <3
4.5 🌟
I really loved this book!! Wes had me swooning and giggling. I was in love with Ada! She was so perfectly imperfect and felt so real. I loved her so much!! She was so sweet, determined, loyal, and so authentic. I felt so seen!!
I’m so excited for this book to come out so everyone can experience these two!! They are perfect 🥹 I can’t wait for the next book hehehe
Thank you to the publisher for giving me an ARC of this book!!
I started this book, after having the first one sitting on my shelf since it released. I am usually not a cowboy romance girlie, they always felt taboo. But here I am giving this book 4.5 stars. I am now obsessed with this book & am listening to Done & Dusted as I’m writing this review. This book feels like a breath of fresh air & should make everyone feel like they were just given a warm hug by a cowboy.
ARC review:
I loved Done and Dusted, so I was excited to get into the next Rebel Blue Ranch book, but I didn’t expect to love it this much.
Both Ada and Wes are vastly different than Luke and Emmy, which I loved, since romance series like this tend to become a monotonous copy and paste version of each other. Ada and Wes are the most heartwarming, black cat and golden retriever, sun and moon relationship.
Ada’s loneliness and insecurities and Wes’ depression weren’t used as plot devices for them to grow out of, and there wasn’t any frustrating miscommunication. I really appreciated how their personal obstacles weren’t something that they had to completely heal from before they were ready to find love or commit to one another. Insecurities that stem from past friendships/relationships and depression are things that stick with you and are long term battles you continuously have to fight, which is okay, and this book accurately represents that reality.
“I never felt like I knew how to connect, or speak the right language, always just to the left of the right social cue.”
Ada is a character I heavily relate to, and I think a lot of women reading will find a bit of themselves in her. She’s sharp and witty and strong but soft at her core. She is by far one of my top FMC POVs I’ve had the joy of reading.
“At his core, Weston Ryder was gentle, and I thought that was the best thing that a man could be.”
Wes and his dimples are an absolute dream. He’s so patient and kind and communicative. He’s what every combative, thorny, closed off but desperate for affection, soft hearted girl wants and needs from a partner. He may have just ruined every other fictional man for me.
I cannot wait to continue reading this series and see more from the Ryder family.
3.5 stars
I’m proud to say I conquered this book in one night, which goes to show Lyla Sage’s great and digestible writing style. I enjoyed Wes and Ada’s story immensely, and I would probably argue that it is better than the first book in the series, Done and Dusted. All in all, a good vacation read or something lighthearted to take your mind off your troubles!
Ok, this one was so hard for me to rate because I wanted to love it so bad but honestly some parts did just fall a bit flat for me.
I’ll start by saying, take everything I am about to say with a grain of salt, because while I didn’t love the book overall there were moments that I did like (Wes seriously had me kicking my feet and giggling a few times). I don’t think it was a bad book I just don’t think it was a book for me. Firstly, I am not a fan of insta love and this was the most instant insta love I have ever read ever. If that’s your jam you will eat this up!! Secondly, I know it was a short book but I do wish the characters were flushed out a bit more. Everything felt so surface level and I wanted more! Both Wes and Ada were so complex and I wish we could have seen a bit more of that. Especially with Wes’ depression. I personally really wish we dove deeper into that. I do love how Sage continues to have these storylines involving mental health. I think it’s so important to normalize and start these discussions.
Overall if you want a cute little romance book I would recommend this one. I am so excited to see where the rest of this series is going to go.
kind of a let down :( i wanted to like this book so bad, especially because i loved done and dusted, but i just couldn't bring myself to do it.
ada was so back and forth on how she felt about wes and while normally i can understand that, it felt like it dragged on far too long with her.
it just fell a little flat for me.
I loved Done and Dusted and had ordered it for the library where I work immediately after I read it so I was excited super excited for Swift and Saddled and it did not disappoint! I loved the way the book started out and set up the dynamic between Ada and Wes. It quickly became one of my favorite romances of the year - the banter and the dialogue was so fun and cheeky but the exploration of depression also gave it such nice depth. It reminded me of those fun small town tv shows and that nostalgia it brings. Wonderful found family as well. Could not recommend it enough (read it in a few hours) and I’m picky about my romances!
4.5⭐️
I loved this book!! I adore Wes and Ada!!! I was looking forward to this book following done and dusted and I was not disappointed. It was black cat golden retriever done right! I loved being back in meadowlark!! This book was so so sweet and the found family vibes were STRONG in this book. I loved how Ada was able to grow and blossom and find a place where she belonged and was accepted for who she was, it was so well written. Wes, a caring king!!! I loved him and just how patient and understanding he was of Ada and how he was able to be open with her and she felt comfortable enough to do the same! He just wanted Ada to shine and I was swooning! They are meant for each other and got the happy they deserved!!
