First of all, thank you netgalley for this ARC. This graphic novel depicts some of the most common misconceptions of life women have about themselves. As women, we were trained from a young age to Expect certain things and view the world in one way (and as someone who's been brought up in a South Asian family, I can say that body dysmorphia and feeling shit about being a woman is so real).
So I loved the way siobhan went through her life in stages of age and her art style is such a comfort to the eyes. Will be looking for lward to get next work
(I received this book from the editor and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review)
I love memoirs. I often feel seen, validated. But not always do I see myself so clearly (most of the outfits included) as in Siobhán Gallagher’s Full of Myself.
This long and very complete graphic novel depicts the author’s teenage years, her problems with anxiety, self-reflection, body image (the 2000s were a dark time indeed) and how she tried to find her place in the world.
Her way of describing moments felt very honest; I do believe she reread her diaries and decided to share them with the world, which make every page not only real but such a gift for other people dealing with the same issues.
Highly recommended.
Full of Myself is a wonderful little graphic novel about the long and sometimes very windy road of self love and acceptance. It’s a very blunt and open conversation about the things women have to go through regarding their body and their mental health, especially when outside forces press down all of these expectations and disgusting stereotypes on us.

i absolutely, posti-tutely adored this book! the illustrations were adorable, quippy and unique--they truly reinforced the messages that were conveyed.
Gallagher's storytelling abilities are phenomenal, this book takes you on a journey straight from the beginning of humbleness and it divulges into self discovery and love. There are many lessons, takeaways and laughs that this book brings to the table and you'd be delighted to flip through the pages.
I would recommend this book to anyone of all ages, this is a book that can benefit many.
If you grew up reading Dork Diaries or Judy Moody, this book will bring great nostalgia to you. If you read Wash Day Diaries, you would also appreciate this book.
So, to those that are looking for a attitude-boosting, quick page flip inducing, relatable narrating, lesson lessoning (someone help me here) beautiful graphic novel, look no further and add this to your tbr list today :)
5/5 stars (i literally can't get enough of how beautiful this book was and is)
Love this graphic novel, haven't heard from the author before but it was really nice to get to know her story through this book, the illustrations are phenomenal. I found pieces of myself in different pages and it was really nice to see those things on paper and know that you're not alone regarding those feelings. Thanks for the ARC, really appreciate the opportunity to read this before hand.
I cant say enough about how wonderful this book is! It is like reading my own life story! The illustrations are wonderful. The story is the best and you will see yourself in some way throughout the book. Highly recommend it
This is such an important book regarding fat phobia and misogyny. I found myself relating to it in so many ways, whether it was about weight and society's standards, or the objectification of women's bodies. This book shows us how important it is for us to stick together and fight for our rights, and how we're not alone. Rating: 5/5 stars.
Siobhan Gallagher's graphic novel Full of Myself is a beautifully written memoir of her childhood and coming of age. Throughout the book she discusses the multiple factors that eroded her self confidence including unrealistic expectations for women, inappropriate comments, diet culture and social media. She covers this challenging very personal topic with humility and humor. She develops an eating disorder and explains her challenges in a very real way. So many memoirs glorify eating disorders but Ms. Gallagher captures how lonely and isolating disordered eating is. Through her struggles she matures and learns to accept herself while recognizing that body -positivity can be challenging. I recommend this book for all young women and male allies who want to better understand the pressures that young women face to meet unrealistic standards. I really loved this book and plan to re-read it when it becomes available in print.

Full of Myself by Siobhan Gallagher is a memoir told in a graphic novel format about body image, what it's like to grow up as a girl, and a lot more. It is divided into 4 parts - childhood, high school, young adult, and mid-twenties & onward. It follows Siobhan as she grows up and deals with issues ranging from misogyny, fatphobia, body dysmorphia, depression, slut shaming, and much more. It has a very bright, playful, witty writing and illustration style, but it dives deep into those topics and gets quite heavy at many points.
It is a unique way to write a memoir, and I think it's perfect for people who want to read more non-fiction but avoid long, boring texts. It is educational, relatable, and personal. That being said, it gets quite chaotic as well, and a lot is going on in terms of both the writing and drawings. It is a little overwhelming. In a lot of ways, it feels like an introduction to feminism, fatphobia, and everything in between, so I think it could work for people who are starting to learn about it. I wish there was more content about the healing parts because it was really sad in a lot of ways. If you're really sensitive to any of the topics mentioned in the content warnings, I would avoid this one. If you want to read about it though and find a place where you can feel seen in your struggles, I think you should check it out!
When it comes to the illustrations, it wasn't my favorite style - the color schemes are very bright, and it was overwhelming, and the style is very flat and cartoon-like, which is not for me. That's mostly just my own fault since it's already visible on the cover, and I'm sure some people are going to like it a lot more than me.
While it didn't fully work for me, I do think it's a well-written and creative memoir that is going to connect with the right audience!
Creative way to intertwine her graphic novel drawing style and her life story while also conveying some strong lessons. No detail went unnoticed in the visuals. This was a very real and relatable read, but I do feel some sections were stronger than others, specifically when it comes to transitions into the next parts as well.
This was an entertaining read. The illustrations were cute. I was interested in the story but I found the format difficult to follow in parts. I do think this is creative way to tackle very important issues. I can see that this could appeal to younger folk grappling with the feelings of not fitting in.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This graphic novel is amazing. I understood what the author went through. It's relatable. And the art style is great, it's very cool and I love it.
This was such a breath of fresh air of a graphic novel! I loved the authors rawness in expressing her emotions and showing us her experiences. Also the art was so cute!!!
I would buy this for every girl i know
This book highlights the nuances of being a woman and discusses great input on body image and body issues. It is a great read regardless of your age. Gallagher's illustrations and humour are enjoyable, and they weaved personal narratives and offered a comprehensive understanding of the challenges that they and many more individuals have faced in accepting and embracing their bodies. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read the ARC.
I adored this creative book. Gallagher is the real deal. Her illustrations and words spoke to me. I enjoyed reading about her body issues and ditching diet culture. I learned and related to so much of her story. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. I'll be sharing this one with several of my self-love friends and groups. Five stars.
