Another fast-paced and stellar installment from Ryan. Great series with high-impact action and complex characters. Thank you for hard-hitting, clean fiction.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book but was not asked to provide a positive review. All opinions are my own.
Not my favorite by Ryan Steck. I prefer his other two books. But appreciate the topics he writes about.
This is book 3 in the Matthew Redd Thriller series. I have not read book one or two in the series, I do wish I had and I will go back and read them. This was a great book and I know I missed some information that would have made this book better. That being said I had no issues keeping up and enjoying this book. This is a new author for me and I love the action, drama, and writing style of Ryan Steck. I look forward to reading more from this author. I assume based on the series name, we were introduced to Matthew Redd in book one. I loved getting to know him and his family. I would guess this book concludes some amazing cliff hangers from book one and two. I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion.
In the third book of the series (oops again), Matthew Redd finds himself a target of a lethal rogue faction of federal agents. Unwilling to endanger his family and friends, he takes off into the Montana wilderness so his hunters will be at a geographical disadvantage. Meanwhile, his loved ones devise a way to interfere and save his life while his biological father investigates the group.
Well done! Off-the-charts action with surprising twists and turns. I read this pretty quickly. I love how much Redd loves his family and friends. His relationships with Mikey and Emily were especially moving. Love his horse Remington and his Rottweiler Rubble. This is also the first book I have read in a long time that contained vocabulary I was not familiar with! I'll be pulling out a dictionary (well, probably on the internet) to geek out with new words I can use.
What a fast paced, page turning thriller. Incredible scenes from Montana., The FBI, prisoners, conspiracy theories, Plans and plots that are under attack.
This one was a wild ride, one full of twists and turns.
A compulsive thrill ride that continues the Matthew Redd saga. It begins to round out Matty’s journey of acceptance of his family and fatherhood all while trying to survive the threats of the Twelve. This time around, Matthew understands the full meaning of family and the need to have them have his back just as much as he has theirs! Bravo! Matthew Redd is quite the compliment to other political thrill characters such as Mitch Rapp, Scot Harvath, and James Reece. I simply can’t wait for the next installment- thanks to NetGalley for the read!
Matthew Redd reminds me of the Jack Reacher series, in which a lone hero faces off against formidable foes with improbable odds of success. Redd learns along the way—unlike Reacher—that he cannot survive on his own. He needs support.
There are a few surprises in this gripping tale, along with a mystery to unravel, endearing characters, and nonstop, action-packed action. Matthew Redd is a formidable opponent who was formerly a marine raider. He'll do whatever it takes to keep his family safe and find the gang boss who's out to kill him.
This novel is perfect for action fans who enjoy explosions, sophisticated weaponry, and dangerous inclement weather situations. Although you may read this novel on its own, I highly recommend reading books one and two to gain a greater understanding of Matthew Redd's circumstances and character. I also found the novel's inherent spiritual thread to be rather insightful. This story and its characters stayed with me long after I put my book down. I'm sure you will love it too! This makes a wonderful book club pick.

First and foremost, I want to thank NetGalley, Tyndall Fiction Publishers, and author Ryan Steck for an ARC of Out For Blood which enabled me to write an unbiased review.
This is the third installment in The Twelve Trilogy. However, I read it as a stand alone and was not confused at all. Kudos to Mr. Steck for writing in a way to make this installment enjoyable without having read the previous two books.m
Matt Redd is a the protagonist and the character development for him is good. The other characters are not developed, however. Decker and Kline are interesting and important characters yet they are not multi dimensional.
The plot is unique and very original - a cabal of twelve billionaires who influence governmental policies in the USA- the shadow government. The opening scene starts with a bang and the thrills and chills keep coming throughout the book!
The last fight is VERY drawn out. It also became implausible and it stretched suspension of disbelief too much. The good guys did not call in reinforcements, which tested credibility; they knew the force and power of the mercenaries, yet other agencies were not called in? 🤔 Also, the “real” DHI should have sent in a swarm of agents.
Overall, fun and exciting with a lot of action and tension!
The action starts and never stops in this thriller. This is the third book in the Matthew Redd Thriller series. It closes off one story line but the Matthew Redd books will continue. I was glad to hear that. This is my first book by this author. I loved it. I've already purchased book one in the series and will undoubtedly get book two after I finish that one.
Redd gets word that someone is coming in to kill him with overwhelming force. So he sends his family away and takes to the hills where he'll have home court advantage. The battles are intense. There's an incredible urgency and a unique twist in the middle. In the end, Redd learns that it's okay to lean on others for help sometimes. That we aren't meant to battle alone.
I love this genre but it can be hard to find a thriller that is clean and isn't full of swearing. This one fits the bill in every way. I'd highly recommend it. Thank you to Tyndale House for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Thank you Rockstar Books for the opportunity to be a part of the Out For Blood book tour and providing a copy in return for an honest review!

His expertise is evident in the book’s tight construction and the authenticity of its suspenseful moments. Even though “Out for Blood” is the third book in the series, it stands strong on its own, welcoming new readers without requiring prior knowledge of the previous installments.
In conclusion, “Out for Blood” is a fast-paced, well-written thriller that will captivate fans of the genre. Ryan Steck, aka The Real Book Spy, simply knows how to write an absolute banger of a thriller novel. This is his 3rd book in the series and might be his best book yet. On the edge of your seats suspense throughout, Ryan has put himself in the same conversation with the best in the business. After years of reviewing thriller novels, he has put together a series that will be around for years to come. I cannot wait for book number 4! 10/10!
This was a page-turner of a thriller, which had me on a constant journey and adventure. The author did an excellent job of sucking me right into the storyline and I really admired the setting throughout the book!
Out for Blood by Ryan Steck is the third book in a Matthew Redd Thriller series. This is a well written, easy to read, fast paced, action packed thriller that I found extremely hard to put down. Having not read the first two books in the series, I had no problem following the story. The author does a great job of filling in the background and introducing characters. The story has wonderful, caring characters that help each other to the point of putting their lives on the line. This is one of those stories that I found so enjoyable I plan to go back to tread from the beginning of the series. I enjoyed the relationship Matt has with his biological father and his best friend. The action in the story is so intense, I found myself reading just to see what happens.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.
Out for Blood by Ryan Steck gives readers a non-stop, run-for-your-life thrill ride. Matthew Redd kisses his family goodbye and runs for his life when he realizes he’s the target of a militant group. He faces bad guys, avalanches, and all kinds of danger. But despite being outgunned and outnumbered, Redd faces the danger head on.
I love a good action hero, and Matthew Redd is the best. He’s unstoppable, smart, and likeable. The story reminds me a bit of the Jack Reacher series, with the lone hero facing insurmountable odds. But in Out for Blood, Redd realizes he needs people in his life to survive. If you love action stories filled with conspiracies, explosions, and high tech weapons, you’ll love Out for Blood.
I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own
What an amazing ending to his part of the Matt Redd trilogy saga. Non stop action with very interesting twists and unknowns. Epic battle scenes the will leave you wanting more. Very excited for more from Ryan Steck. The first 3 novels have been an absolute blast and a must read for any fan of the genre.
I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to read this book early before its release date. Ryan Steck has created a great series around his main character in Matthew Redd. This third book in the series really culminated in a big closure of many of the storylines from the first two books, while also keeping open the possibility of a lot more books in the future. Without getting into much of the story, the plot evolves around the identity of the Praetorian at the head of the Twelve and all the efforts to rid the world of anyone who may know anything about their identities. The action is intense and the book just moves along quickly. You don’t want to miss Out for Blood!
Ryan Steck’s latest—Out for Blood—feels like a mashup of C.J. Box, Jack Carr, and Vince Flynn, and there is nothing wrong with that. Matthew Redd finally has his man—Anton Gage—and he is singing like a canary. And people with secrets don’t like snitches. Now that the conspiracy known as the Twelve is out of the bag, the “Twelve” are being hunted by an unknown force, including Redd and anyone who’s unfortunate enough to be near him. Facing a fierce blizzard and multiple teams of killers with a seemingly unlimited budget and options, the only thing that matters to Redd is keeping everyone he cares about safe.
The growth Ryan Steck has shown over three books is apparent. The plot and his writing are tighter, crisper, more fluid. Taking more of a chance than the previous books, Steck adds a second storyline that doesn’t feel forced or out of place but, is natural and plausible. The action scenes were wildly exciting.
Steck’s growth is also notable in the development of his characters—new and old. He introduces us to a new character sparingly and with great effect. I can easily envision this character in his own series.
The dialog between characters is also much improved especially between Redd and his loved ones. Previously the dialog felt hokey and out of place. Like Steck was trying to soften Redd‘s image and convey how much he cares but ended up sounding like something out of The Andy Griffith Show. In Out for Blood, Steck is able to convey Redd’s emotions without the aw-shucks, corny lines. The change made Out for Blood a more enjoyable read.
Give Ryan Steck a read if you haven't already and hold on.
My sincere thanks to Tyndale House Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Out for Blood!
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.
“Out for Blood” by Ryan Steck is a sddition to the Matthew Redd series, set against the rugged backdrop of Montana’s Big Sky Country. Steck’s narrative prowess is on full display as he weaves a tale of survival, betrayal, and relentless action
My only criticism has to do with comparison of characters to modern day actors, and it can be challenging keep all the moving parts and people in mind as the story advanced.
The novel follows former Marine Raider Matthew Redd as he faces a new kind of enemy. The stakes are higher than ever when Redd learns he’s the target of a skilled hit team, leading him to send his family into hiding and retreat to the mountains. Steck masterfully portrays Redd’s tactical expertise and survival instincts, which are put to the test in the unforgiving Montana winter.
Steck’s writing is evocative, capturing the isolation and beauty of the setting while maintaining a breakneck pace. Redd’s complexity and resilience shines through as he navigates the treacherous terrain, both physical and emotional.
The plot is tightly constructed, with twists that are both surprising and plausible. Steck’s attention to detail in the action sequences is particularly noteworthy, creating vivid and heart-pounding moments that are both cinematic and believable.
“Out for Blood” is a testament to Steck’s ability to balance character development with action. It’s a novel that not only thrills but also delves into the psyche of a warrior pushed to his limits. Fans of the genre will find much to admire in Steck’s latest work, which confirms his status as a force in thriller writing.
Steck has delivered a novel that is a thoughtful page-turner as well as an exploration of the human spirit under pressure in this third installment to the series.
