This was a cute story about 3 different dinosaurs - a "smallasaurus", a "badasaurus" and a "worseasaurus". The smallasaurus is a plant eating dinosaur, the badasaurus likes to eat plant eating dinosaurs and the worsasaurus likes to eat any dinosaur.
My kids enjoyed the pictures and were happy that smallasaurus didn't get eaten.

Since my son loves dinosaurs I’m always trying to find new books to read. The best part of the book was the illustrations and colors. The story shows how the food chain works and how they could outsmart each other. The book was cute but not one I would read again.

The acrylic paint illustrations are often very cute. The text is placed in fun ways around them.

However I don't understand the purpose or message here. My sensitive children would find this stressful, and there's nothing good about the ending. I think we were supposed to feel like the bad guy got what was coming to him, but that's an unfair message at best. I wouldn't read this to my kids, and certainly not before bed.

A fabulous tale following the hungry Smallasaurus as she attempts to avoid being the bottom of a dino-food chain!

This book made us smile and giggle when we read it with children age 2-5. It reminds us of the Gruffalo in many ways as the clever Smallasaurus evades Badosaurus and Worseasaurus to come out on top and eat her dinner in peace.

The illustrations are eye catching and bright and the story is entertaining.

We feel as though we would like to be in Smallasaurus's gang if we went back to prehistoric times as a Bookasaurus, she is one wily dino.

When Dinosaurs Walked the Earth is a play on how they might have become extinct - and its aimed at lower-key stage-one children.
It has easy-to-understand text which is accessible for your more confident readers but it would make an ideal shared class read.
The accompanying illustrations by Zehra Hicks are bright and colourful and they sit perfectly alongside Sean Taylors' words.

This was such a fun children's book! It's a great way to learn about chain analysis, problem solving, or just enjoy a funny dinosaur story! Perfect for lower level elementary school.

Every kid loves to read about dinosaurs! This book does not disappoint. With the colors and the pictures it is a great book for kids of all ages. It should be in all libraries and on everyone's shelves! It is fantastic!

Just what I hoped from Sean Taylor, absolutely fantastic dinosaur adventure that any child would be delighted to have gifted to them.

This picture book was an absolute hit with my daughter. The artwork is fresh, the colours are lovely and the story is cute and funny. Even I was giggling while reading this to her.

This was a silly and cute picture book! Definitely a nice addition to the bookshelves of a dinosaur-loving toddler! I'm not the biggest fan of the use of made-up dinosaur names, but I can see why they do it here. But that is more of my own preference tho!

Cute illustrations and perfect amount of text for adults to read to a young child.

This was a really cute book. I could definitely see my youngest enjoying the cadence and repetitiveness of the storyline. The illustrations are adorable and really well done. I at first was thinking that the dinosaurs would be real names - the smallasaurus, badasaurus, and worseasauraus were silly and charming. It feels like a young child age-appropriate way to discuss the food chain, leveraging creatures that don't exist and fun language.

I still have a smile on my face from this read. A fun time with life throwing hard moments to dinosaurs. The illustrations are perfect and simple to go with the fun moments Smallasaurus. The words provide another element of enjoying the small, big and bad. I had a fun time with this story of the unexpected turns life can take for when dinosaurs walked the Earth.

This was super cute and funny, and had my children roaring with laughter!

Short simples sentences are great for new readers, and the images were nice and bright and colourful!

The illustrations in this are bold and bright, lovely to look at.

The description says this is non-fiction to introduce the food chain. While that's the story, I'm not sure I'd agree it's non-fiction overall! The dinosaurs aren't real ones but do almost get eaten a lot.

The story is simple, fun and easy for a child to follow. They'll laugh along at the misadventures of the dinosaurs.

When Dinosaurs Walked the Earth by Sean Taylor is an adorable introduction to the food chain through vibrant images and the very stressful day of Smallasaurus.

Smallasaurus is our tiny, blue protagonist, happily on her way to eat some pre-historic ferns. However, hiding between the greenery is Badasaurus, a dinosaur who munches on smaller, plant-based dinosaurs. Smallasaurus must use her walnut-sized brain to figure out what to do! But watch out, because she soon runs into something scarier, Worseasaurus, who eats plant-based dinosaurs AND small-dinosaur-based dinosaurs. Hijinks ensue. Whose tiny brain would win when dinosaurs walked the earth?

The illustrations in this book brought a smile to my face while reading, the bright colors and stylistic graphics making it feel approachable and fun. It fit perfectly with the vibe of the writing. I also really enjoyed how the title of the book was worked into the story throughout.

It would have been cool to use real dinosaurs in place of the given names in the book, but it gives the story fun character as is. As it stands, I think this is an excellent way to introduce food chains or dinosaurs (or both!) to young kids and could lead to great discussions.

Overall, I would give this book a 4.5/5 stars and recommend it to those with young kids interested in science and how the animal kingdom works. I can imagine this book working wonders at the beginning of a lesson in younger grades to spark conversation among the students.

I really enjoyed this picture book. The names were fun and cute. The art style was nice and I enjoyed the contrasting colors of the images. It was a cute story that I can't wait to add to my library's collection.

"There's always a bigger fish" is all I could think of when reading this book. I think it's not often that you find a book about dinosaurs for kids where they actually eat each other.
