There were so many wonderful exercises in this book to help overcome fears and obstacles in the way of achieving our best selves: There were also a lot of great exercises to help us learn to set positive goals for ourselves and implement them in our lives.
This was your standard CBT workbook that will no doubt be useful to many who have never explored CBT before. It's basic, easy to understand, and has some helpful analogies for explaining concepts. That said, there is nothing utterly unique about it and readers could probably find equal value in other similar workbooks. Whether or not someone likes this more will come down to personal preferences.
Christine Yarosh has broken down CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) into an easy to follow step by step guide. I learned so much of what my thought process is stems from cognitive issues. This has helped me catch things I need to change. Follow along the guide in order to get the benefit of CBT.
The best book I have read on this subject.

As someone who used to work with mentally handicapped adults and deal with depression and anxiety myself, I love reading books and trying to implement new techniques into my daily life.
Love this workbook so much. It is very user friendly and I will 100% be using it and recommending it to my clients. I especially love that it talks about how to maintain your progress and provides additional resources.
Amazon states I do not meet the guidelines to write a review, not sure why maybe because I didn’t purchase the book on Amazon, but I did post to good reads!
This Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Workbook was such a useful tool to use alongside my therapy. I liked the exercises- they were clear and not overwhelming.
I'm not a psychologist, but I very much enjoyed reading this book and making a list of things I can apply in order to better my thought patterns. High value.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Workbook for Self Esteem by Christine Yarosh is a great tool for helping others or even yourself with self esteem issues. It is very informative and helps you to truly dive deep and work through your mindset.
The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Workbook for Self-Esteem by Christine Yarosh was brilliant. This workbook was written in such a way that it met the reader at whatever level one came. I really appreciated in the beginning that the book did not assume a certain knowledge base of the reader. For those who were not educated in the area information was provided and for those who were you were able to be refreshed on key concepts. We were given solid, sound, practical and functional skills to check and challenge our negative thought processes. I have never read any workbook that has been able to do this. The examples further drove home the idea. This was great. I can see myself using this continuously and also referring it to others in my practice.
Than you!
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is basically the idea that we can learn to control our minds so that we have control over our feelings and actions. This book has explanations and exercises to help people do their own CBT.
I felt like this was good overall but there was more explanation than necessary. It would have been more helpful to focus on the techniques.
CBT is one of the techniques that really seems to help a lot of people and I wanted to learn more. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

This workbook was really hard for me to digest. It spent a lot of time in the beginning speaking on what “this book” will help with, and honestly when I got deeper into the book I struggled to find that those issues were touched on in depth. I also struggled because there were some things that were in depth, but with little support when digging in deeper, or appropriate “next steps” as you make break throughs. I love the concept of a workbook, and I love the idea of using CBT to help address self esteem issues, I just found it really hard to see the questions as on topic to that mission in this book. However, the information it’s self was well written and helpful for day to day life.
This may be a “me” issues vs a workbook issue, but I just ended up feeling more guarded and confused than confident and self aware after reading and using this book.
This is a great read if you are really interested in bettering yourself. This workbook does a great job at getting you to look at how you “talk” to yourself and how you perceive things. It gives you food for thought, and opportunities to move in a better direction and make new goals for yourself. I definitely recommend if you are trying to work on yourself!
