This hiking guide is perfect for those who don't want to go on long, multi-day hikes. I prefer the shorter hikes that take me to interesting park features, and this book is perfect for that. It has a total of 29 different hikes. Each of these is 2 miles or less in length. The difficulty rating for each hike is provided. You also learn about interesting features you will see along the way, or at the end of each trail. Most of these hikes are in the easy to moderate range of difficulty. The amazing photographs will make you want to visit each of these sites. The parks are so beautiful and you could spend months exploring there. This guide will help narrow down your choices to some of the best sites in the parks. I enjoyed the fact that wildlife that you might see at each location was mentioned too. I love to look for the birds and other wildlife when I go to places like this. I found this book very useful and plan to use it when I next visit these parks. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
A great book to look at before traveling to the Yellowstone area. Lots of great tips and tricks about things to see and do while you're there.
Roddy Scheer's "Yellowstone and Grand Teton’s Best Nature Walks" is an essential companion for anyone planning to explore these stunning national parks. This guidebook offers an accessible and enriching way to experience the rich ecology of Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons through a selection of easy-to-moderate hikes.
Scheer has meticulously curated 29 nature walks, each no more than two miles, making this guide perfect for casual hikers, families, and tourists looking to step out of their cars and into nature. The book’s layout is both user-friendly and visually appealing. Each hike is introduced with clear information on its difficulty, distance, and location, followed by detailed descriptions of the flora, fauna, and geological features you are likely to encounter.

Yellowstone and Grand Teton’s Best Nature Walks by Roddy Scheer is a brilliant guide to hikes in this incredible landscape.
The first thing that caught my eye was how well the book was laid out, with the site, the location, the difficulty and length of hike. The layout was eye-catching and concise and personable in its narrative. Secondly, the photographs and illustrations are stunning. Finally, the content is rich and thorough, perfect for someone who likes to learn about a place thoroughly before they go there
All in all, a delightful read
Thank you very much to Netgalley, Timber Press and Roddy Scheer for this wonderful ARC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me review this book. This was a very in-depth walking guide for Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. The pictures were gorgeous and each section said how long each walk would be. This is a great guide for those going on hikes in these national parks.
I live five hours drive from Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons. I have spent many weekends exploring the natural beauty and seeing wildlife in both national parks. The book has lovely photos of wildlife, plants and geographic wonders. Boardwalks, hiking trails, scenic drives and viewpoints are covered in the book. Yellowstone is a unique place and there are areas that people should no wander off the path or trails. The book is informative and some of the information is more than a simple hiker would need to know. But if you are interested in more in-depth knowledge of flora and fauna this book has it. I enjoyed reading through this book and can easily see it for sale at visitor centers and gateway entrances to the parks. I look forward to pulling out my National Parks pass and visiting these parks again. Thank you Timber Press for the temporary ARC via NetGalley and I am leaving a voluntary review.
This book has some lovely photos. The individual walks are explained in great detail. There are a lot of tips. Easy to follow directions are given. The types of wildlife and trees that will be found on the nature walk is stated. How long the walk is and the level of difficulty is also stated. It’s a really nice book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
