I received a copy from the publisher via Netgalley for an honest review.

This was an okay book. It was a bit dry at times and it also had some interesting information about the beginning of Criminology and how things have changed in psychology. I think what gave me a bitter taste in my mouth that just stayed was that it seemed Dr. Kelley almost sympathized with Hermann Goring and had a quasi friendship, I suppose? It just unsettled me.

Much of the history was interesting, especially when these rough and tough Nazis who thought they could do no wrong proved to be the whiniest of petulant children when they were imprisoned and STILL treated better than the vast majority of the humans they themselves had imprisoned. It was also interesting the conflicting reports from many who studied them of whether or not these Nazis could be catoegorized as psychopaths or sociopaths, when it seemed that Dr. Kelley himself seemed to have characteristics of a sociopath as well...maybe that was why he felt he could understand Goring better? I'm not sure. I just feel like reading this made me a bit ill at times.
