I can sum this up perfectly in one sentence...
The PERFECT series conclusion!
I put this off for way too long because I simply wasn't ready to say goodbye to these characters. I wasn't the least but disappointed by the ending!
honestly... this is a very generous 3 stars 😳 it really should be 2.5 stars
I really did not vibe with this one!! Both men drove me nuts and the conflicts just felt so ICK. Then it took until the last 15% for any action plot to occur? idk... I forced myself to finish this but it should have been a DNF.
First off lemme say that the audiobook was incredibly well done. The narrators were fantastic and I honestly wish more books were done with dual narration like this cause it truly enhances the experience.
All this to say this book missed the mark a bit for me. I oved getting everyone's pov but at times it seemed a little much because there was so much going on. I wish the blight amongst their home started happening in the previous books instead of randomly happening in the book because he was no longer cursed. To me it seemed a tad random. And Raeyns long lost love suddenly being gifted back to him and causing issues with Aveyn seemed unnecessary. And the baby daddy aspect and drinking? It was just alot. I understand the author wanted to give problems to each individual couple but between the blight and the people not liking humans it was alot going on.
2.5 stars
I had a number of issues with authorial choices (sexual assault, toxic masculinity, lack of communication) in this book and won’t be continuing with the series.
I LOVED the first two books but this one fell flat for me. I was really looking forward to this book too. The characters felt completely different to me and the story was so drawn out. And I’m a bit disappointed with some of the ending.
I love the narrators though for this series! They are part of the reason why I loved the first book so much.
Thank you to NetGalley, Midnight Tied Publishing for the ALC.
Wow what a journey this book took us on! I did a combo of audio and reading and it was phenomenal! The narrators are perfection and this is a series I could easily listen to and read many, many times! Duet narration is my absolute favorite!
A Cursed Love follows all four of our MCs and their journey through love and loss, insurmountable odds at times, and trying to hold out hope for the best. I laughed, bawled, swooned, and enjoyed immensely this coaster she took us on! The spice was spicing and the emotions were slicing!! They really took on the “I will go to the ends of the world for you” and when it seemed like they would lose it all, love conquered all! I loved the found family and how even though the sisters were human, they took on protecting their husbands’ land and people and finally found where they belonged, the thought that happiness can be found as long as you’re willing to fight for it.
This was the perfect ending to the trilogy and though I am sad it’s all over, I can hope Jenny revisits these characters down the road for a little “where are they now” (hint hint haha). Easily one of my favorite fantasy series!!
Thank you for the opportunity to have an ALC!
I really enjoyed the first two books of this series, but unfortunately this third book did not hit me the same way. Though it was nice to have all the MC’s lives converge and finally reach their HEAs, the journey there was lackluster. It didn’t even seem like the same story most of the time. 70% of this book was angsty romance, with a decent amount of spice, but hardly any fantasy at all. I wasn’t even sure of the plot until the very end.
Keelyn & Tadgh’s story line had the same underlying themes as Aveen & Rian’s which made the story seem repetitive. The side characters were vibrant and I would have loved more of them, but unfortunately I feel like they were used as plot pushers.
The audio narration was wonderful, but I wanted more of the plot and less of the back and forth of the MC’s romances.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This was a great book. I loved to get back to Keelynn and Tadhg again!
We get all four POVs and of course, like the previous books, both romance and a story outside of it! Jenny did a great job developing both of these. I loved to see how the characters grew in this book and how they cared for/loved each other.
If you have read the other books there’s a must to read this one too so you get to know how their stories end!
I listened to the audiobook and we get dual narration and the voices were a great fit for this story.
Some of my favorite quotes:
“Don’t worry, brother. You can always dye your hair.” This whole scene! Ugh, it was the best!!
“If that man made my fiancée cry, I was going to make an example out of him.”
“Don’t run from me. Please, don’t run.” The struggle these two characters needed to go through…
“If you recall, I didn’t like you very much at first either.”
This was a great end to this series, now we just need to keep an eye open to see if Ruairi gets his own book.
I absolutely love this book! It's still one of my most favorite conclusions of a series I have ever read. I owned the audiobooks for A Cursed Kiss and A Cursed Heart already, and when I heard A Cursed Love would be duet narration, I immediately pre-ordered this audiobook as well.
Zura and Zachary did the best job bringing this story and the characters to life. This book is such an emotional hard-hitter and I'm being completely honest when I tell you that the way these two read it left me with many moments when I had to pause to let out a breath and a few tears.
I also absolutely loved that we got chapters from the male characters' POV narrated in this book. Zachary completely knocked Tadhg, Rían, and Ruairi out of the park, and I can't imagine those characters any other way now.
Zura, as always, did an amazing job. Her narration is so easy to listen to, and I'm always very quickly absorbed into the story when she's performing.
If you're looking for a series with absolutely amazing audiobooks, make sure to pick up A Cursed Love and the rest of the Myths of Airren series!
A Cursed Love is book three in Jenny Hickman’s Myths of Airren series. Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and the author for providing me with an audio ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
So, I am incredibly sad to say this wasn’t my cup of tea. I adored book one and two, devouring them in less than a week. You can imagine how excited I was to get an ARC of book three! Ultimately, I was let down by this book. Despite this, the narrators were incredible and I thoroughly enjoyed their performance.
SPOILERS BELOW, read at your own risk!
The two main tropes of this installment are miscommunication and surprise children. These are two of my least favorite tropes, so it’s not surprising that I didn’t enjoy this. I also felt like the story had so much unnecessary drama and random plot points just for the sake of having filler. To me, so much of the plot could have been more exciting and not focused on the shortcomings of both princes. I wasn’t invested in Tadhg and Keelynn’s story at all, which is sad, because they brought me into this lovely universe to begin with.
That being said, I really enjoyed Rían and Aveen’s story. I found it more complex and believable. I especially loved Aveen’s character development, and she is my favorite character in the story.
Overall, A Cursed Love not for me. That being said, if you enjoyed books one and two, you should definitely give this a shot! Don’t let my review deter you from reading what you want to. 🩷
This book made me read the previous books.
The vibe of this book is simply divine.
It contains all the elements a high fantasy book should have, fae, magic, curses, and beautiful creatures.
The characters were 🤌
What an end to an epic series! I loved this audiobook, I think the narration was done so well. I felt the story telling and loved listening to this book. These are new narrators to me but I will definitely be listening to more of their work. If you're new to this series, you'll want to start with the first book but if you love fantasy, action and adventure, twists and turns, as well as beautiful world building definitely check out this series!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me a copy of this audiobook.
This book had the ending I was hoping for. It was a nice HEA well earned by the couples. ❤️
This book continues where the last left off, extending the strife for Keelyn and Avery’s relationship with their devilishly handsome fae princes.
This series was not about a young girl finding love in a dangerous land and learning to be a warrior. No, this story is about two ladies who were raised to be prim and proper and find themselves in love with fae princes in a more savage and harsh world. What I loved about this series is that Jenny doesn’t force Keelyn and Aveen into the typically fierce FMC role, but adapts them to their environment in more subtle ways. She does a great job of showcasing their grit while also keeping to their core values and upbringing. While some may have viewed this as a weak or complacent FMC, I rather view it as showcasing the ability to develop strength in wit, cunning, and using relationships rather than brute force and powers.
I mostly listened to this on audiobook and I would highly recommend it. I loved the dual narrators - it really enhanced the feel of the story!
After having read the physical book, I can easily say that Zara Johnson and Zachary Johnson really brought these characters to life! The inflections in their voices, the accents, the emotions- SO GOOD! I love that, like the previous books, this was also a duet. It was absolutely perfect! I also liked that the guys all sounded different as well as the women, so it was easy to discern who was speaking.
I loved A Cursed Love so much and this is most definitely my favorite of the series. Such emotion, banter, love, tragedy, you name it- it was all just so perfect!
Thank you to Jenny Hickman and Dreamscape Select for this alc.
These narrators!!! Holy crap…They were PHENOMENAL!! How they were able to narrate multiple POVs so flawlessly…I have no idea lol This book was a perfect freaking conclusion to this series and an emotional rollercoaster. I loved every second of it. I would literally read anything Jenny writes.
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! No spoilers. Beyond amazing I enjoyed this audiobook so very much. The characters and storyline were fantastic. The ending I did not see coming Could not put down nor did I want to. Truly Amazing and appreciated the whole story. This is going to be a must listen for many many readers. Maybe even a book club pick.
Rounded to 3.5. This was one of my most anticipated books for the year, and unfortunately it fell a little flat for me. The positives were the narrators, although I wish they’d changed their voices more between the females and males. Because this was the POV of four characters that would have helped. The narration itself was fantastic though. Just as good as the first two books! The story is where it fell flat. I feel like one too many relationship obstacles were introduced and it caused the book to be mostly couples bickering. I wish I’d lived this more.
This book is a work of art. I feel simultaneously devastated and happy. Jenny is clearly a genius and an auto-buy author for me.
I don’t even know where to start. This book left me in tears. What a bittersweet ending to such a phenomenal series. While there is a HEA, it is hard earned, and your heart may not survive this one. This was definitely one of my top November reads.
Some of my favorite parts are huge spoilers, but let me just say, you get to see a different side of Rian that was just feckin adorable.
I was blessed to get an ALC through NetGalley and the audiobook was stunning. Zura Johnson and Zachary Johnson did an incredible job bringing these characters to life.
I highly recommend this series! Start with A Cursed Kiss!
Loved this! Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me listen to this conclusion to the series, it was so wonderful and satisfying.
