What can I say?!? This book filled the void in my heart (pun intended) after finishing the previous books in the series. I gasped. I laughed. I cried. I laughed. I got angry. I cried. So much drama. I am sad to see the series end but can't wait for Rauri to get his story in due time. He is such a lover and I really hope to see his heart on a page (pun not intended). I bought the book on Kindle, and hardcover but I did receive the audio via NetGalley (thank you for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook Jenny and NetGalley). As always, the narration is top notch, just like the previous books, but I am still holding my breath for an audiobook of the Princes books (Prince of Seduction and Price of Deception).
A fabulous end to a wonderful series. I really enjoyed getting all four POVs in this book. Aveen, Keelynn, Tadhg, and Rian all get their moment to shine in this epic conclusion. There is so much heart and angst and joy in this book. While not the strongest of the series, it does deliver a satisfying end.
Overall, I give this series 5 stars. It is a must read for any romantasy lover.
Tadhg, Rían, Aveen, and Keelynn Multi POV. Tadhg and Keelynn struggle to stop a blight that’s going through Tearmann before its too late. Aveen and Rían face relationship troubles stemming from their issues with the Phantom Queen and her need to destroy them. The Queen will not stop until all of them are destroyed and ruined as they fight to save themselves and the kingdom.
“A Cursed Love” by Jenny Hickman is the last book of the Myths of Airren series. I got the audio book version. I didn’t love the book as much as I thought I would. It wasn’t bad just wasn’t for me; I thought one of the characters acted like a child despite being a grown man and the girl having to compromise to create a happy family. It felt too much like a second chance romance because of that which is an ick of mine. I wasn’t in love with the audio book voices and thought they sounded a bit too “old” for my taste instead of middle-aged voices. A lot of stuff happens in the book, which is good, so you don’t get bored. It just wasn’t what I wanted from the book, but it was still okay. 3 out of 5 stars.
Thank you @netgalley for the chance to listen to this audiobook!
The narrators and multiple POV really has you captivated and loving every minute of it!
This was such a good series and while I’m sad it’s over, it was good!
Thank you so much to @netgalley for the chance to review A Cursed Love by Jenny Hickman. I was so excited to read the third book in the Myths of Airren Series. I truly enjoyed going into each of the four series main character's POVs - and I absolutely loved Tadhg and Keelynn's stories. Hickman's writing continues as utter perfection, and she made me cry multiple times in this book! Rollercoaster for sure.
Just so good - a great ending, even though I am sad to say goodbye to this series.
Absolutely excellent narration!
I had already read this book prior to listening to the audio, and I already loved it but these narrators have done an incredible job at bringing this story to life! The emotion they display through the story telling is just excellent, and they made an already incredible book even better.
The story itself is an excellent finale to a truly wonderful series. With plot twists and surprised that keep you guessing, with plenty of action without being overwhelming. This is a happily ever after which has been fought hard for, and well earned by all the characters.
This book was literally everything! I love Jenny's writing style and the way she continued to create a world that I just absolutely fell in love with!
The audiobook for this was everything!
This is a fantastic conclusion to an amazing romantasy series! All four POVs come together to bring it all home. Hickman will make you sweat it though. Will the couples make it to endgame? You need to pick this up now!
Unfortunately the audio book would not download for me to listen to this book. The error message issue wasn't solved by NG (as of 11/28/23). I have heard clips and both narrators deliver to die for lines. I can imagine this is an even more amazing avenue to digest this incredible series end.
This book was everything I didn’t know I needed. There was so many ups and downs for all of the characters that I was on a constant emotional roller coaster.
This was such a great ending and I loved watching the growth between the characters. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend and I hope I can one day read this book again in my book club.
This was full of torturous twists and turns and steamy lovely moments. Basically the perfect conclusion for this series.
I love all the POVs! I loved seeing them all be completely their unhinged selves but also learning to compromise and grow together as a family.
A few things left open ended that could means we see more of this world in the future? I wouldn’t be sad about that. (I need a Ruari love story!!)
The audiobook was OUTSTANDING (as I knew I could expect from this series). Zura and Zachary killed it. Again.
Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for the chance to review an ALC.
This book - this whole series - is like a never-ending roller-coaster ride.
And this book has been the most action and emotionally-packed out of the three of them.
I love that we finally get to have the princes’ perspective
I have not read the novellas, I started reading book 1 and 2 because I had gotten A Cursed Love as an arc and I didn’t think it would be fair if i judged the third book in a series without reading the previous books
I love Keelynn and Tadgh but mostly i loved Tadgh
I do love Rian too, i feel like his character is absolutely intriguing
But there are some parts of this book that just… left a bitter taste in my mouth
I cannot speak much about the plot because I don’t want to spoil any of the story
But i did feel like some of the pacing is a bit off; the focus on Tadgh drinking could be avoided
And I didn’t really understand the significance of bringing Anwen - i really thought she would turn out to be one of the good ones
And I wished the captain had been killed of in the prison but hey that’s just me
I do hope there would be a happy ending for Ruairi though
AND WHAT WAS THAT ENDING???
WHY DID THEY HAVE TO DO MY GIRL DIRTY LIKE THAT
I wish there was a way to undo the “curse”
And speaking of curses, it is kind of ridiculous but poetic how they ended up defeating the curse
This whole series has been bloody brilliant
I have loved every moment of the journey
I can’t wait to read the novellas and more of Jenny Hickman’s books
Thank you to NetGalley and Jenny Hickman for providing me with this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
The audio was amazing! Both narrators did an amazing job and it blended seamlessly.
I have been anticipating this book for a while but it played out more like a soap opera than a novel. I am having a hard time understanding a lot of the point of this third book. I feel like it either could have been short or added to books one and two. So many things that I didn’t like that ultimately made me give it three stars. I will read her next book, I just hope it’s more like the first books than this one.
I don’t even know where to start! The whole book is so action packed and fast paced. From the first chapter shite is hitting the fan. Rian is adjusting to life with a heart, causing him to be a bit overbearing and protective of Aveen, placing their relationship on some rocky ground. Tadhg is still waiting for Keelynn’s year and a day to pass so she can wake up, and so many other things get dropped (quite literally) in their laps. Aveen’s, Rian’s, and Tadhg’s pasts all come back to haunt them (again, almost quite literally for some).
Y’all when I tell you so much happens, I mean SO MUCH HAPPENS. Where previous books were from one POV, this book combines ALL FOUR POV’S! Each character has a story to tell and arc to wrap up.
We get to see a whole new side of Rian. Where in the previous books he’s always dressed to perfection and a total neat freak, with his heart back, he’s feeling ALL THE THINGS. He’s struggling with Aveen’s new true immortality and the fear of what could happen if the Queen finds out she’s still alive. He’s anxious, paranoid, overprotective, and overbearing and Aveen is soooo not having it. These two go through sooo much by the end of the book but never fear, a HEA is on the horizon! Also, don’t forget that little cliffy we were left on at the end of Prince of Deception 👀
Meanwhile, a blight has taken over Tearmann and is displacing all the residents, at the same time, Human and Danu couples and families are losing their homes and businesses over in Airren, also displacing them. Tadhg and company must figure out a way to stop the blight from forcing every Danu on the island from their homes. Oh, and don’t forget that Keelynn is still mortal while literally everyone else is a true immortal, so they have THAT little detail to figure out on top of everything else.
Gosh my heart was breakingggggg for this found family who just wants to live with their soulmates and be happy. The emotions were all over the place with this one! These four are hit with new obstacles around every turn.
Brogan/Hagan- What an unexpected twist! I never saw this coming, although I’m kinda with Rian on this one, I’m surprised there aren’t more running around 😅 these hooligan princes and their humans had no clue what to do with this poor kid and I was so relieved when Tadgh and Keelynn started warming up to parenthood. I think the revelation was an “Aha!” Moment for Tadhg and kind of made him grow up and mature a bit (even if he’s already centuries old).
Leesha- This ball was dropped at the end of the previous book, so it’s not new to this particular book, HOWEVER, I think this was something Rian needed to face. I feel bad for the poor girl, and her character arc is kinda left open-ended 👀
Caden- This was a hugeeee “WTF” moment for me. Because of courseeeeeee. As if Aveen and Rian didn’t need anything else to test their relationship, in waltzes the man who did Aveen dirty 4 years ago. I will say, though, there’s a scene with Rian and Ruairi regarding Caden and I literally shrieked laughing so hard. This was another character arc that was kind of left open-ended as well 🤔
Ruairi- This book made me fall in love with our favorite pooka even more than the previous books 🥺 There were times where I was certainly concerned for his future but his love for his family always came out stronger.
The last like 10% had me screeching, clutching my chest, sobbing, and absolutely freaking out. The ending was unexpected and gripping and full of emotion. Our characters get their happy endings, maybe not how we expected, but the epilogues (yes, plural) are soooo satisfying and sweet!

_______________
I honestly don’t know that I have words for how incredible this book was, but I’m going to try…
First off, the audio. It is no secret that this series contains my favorite, go-to audiobooks, but this one in particular really takes the (chocolate) cake!! The narrators are fantastic balancing all four points of view, as well as the supporting cast. There was clarity, I was able to follow along without any issue, and the pure emotion they both brought to the table in every scene, be it spicy or heartbreaking, had me lost in the story all over again. I truly cannot recommend this series in audio ENOUGH. Buy them, you will NOT regret it!!
When you have a series as strong as this one and you have four characters and four points of view so distinct, you can’t help but get crazy excited to see it all come together. But it can also go awry very quickly. There is NONE of that here. Every single character comes into the story where we left them and every single one has a massive mountain to climb, all the while facing down the Phantom Queen and a blight overtaking Tearmann, destroying everything in its path.
You see the struggles, you see the devastation, you see the fallout and the reckoning for everything to this point, but then you see the healing, the coming together, the acceptance, and the love between them all, and honestly my heart could not have asked for more.
Once that happens, however, you only have a few moments of pure happiness and joy before reality hits and we face the ultimate showdown for the fate of Tearmann and everyone in it. I really thought I knew how it was going to go, but I was SO UNPREPARED for how the war with the Phantom Queen culminated. It blew my mind, it’s still blowing my mind honestly, but it was beyond perfect. Everyone truly got the most satisfying ending and I am overwhelmed by how happy I am for every single one of them.
This series is truly phenomenal and while I’m so sad to see it end, this book was beautiful. I could read it over and over again and still be captivated and left breathless by its highs, lows, and the beauty in between. Don’t even hesitate, get lost in Airren!! If you need me I’ll be at Ruari’s house…
The heartwrenching conclusion to the Myths of Airren series, this book has the power to warm even the most absent of hearts. Just when I thought another plot twist couldn’t come, another one stole the air from my lungs and the earth from beneath my feet. I felt every emotion, good and bad, while completely immersed in these pages. My favorite characters had to complete an agonizing journey to get to their happily ever after that was a painful, emotional, stunningly executed. I can’t thank the author enough for allowing me an early glimpse at this masterpiece. I haven’t cried this hard at a book since Sirius Black died.
The narration is absolutely FLAWLESS! The amount of raw emotion and energy are literally palpable when you listen to this audiobook! I didn’t think I could love this story more but the narrators take this to the next level!
Jenny Hickman does it again! I loved this series and a Cursed Love did not disappoint! This was the perfect way to finish the series. There was lots of drama but a beautiful HEA ending to warm your heart. The audiobook was fantastic! I have listened to this whole series and this one was just as good! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC!
I've been eagerly awaiting the release of this audiobook, and the excitement of finally completing this trilogy is unmatched! 🎉
The closure this book provided was exactly what I needed. Even though I'm not a huge fan of third-act breakups – there were moments I just wanted to yell, "Dude, get your head out of you-know-where!" – I understood the reasoning behind it, and it only made me fall more in love with the characters.
I adore morally grey characters with beautiful hearts hidden underneath, and I'm thrilled that everyone got their happily ever after. ❤️
Setting the story aside (which I absolutely loved), I found the audiobook a bit confusing at times, especially with my ADHD. Having the same narrators for all characters made it a challenge, even if they were introduced at the beginning. In the end, I opted to download and read the book instead.
For those who enjoy a captivating romantic fantasy with a bit of spice and a guaranteed happily ever after, this series is a must-try! 😊
I'm sorry, but this book just wasn't for me. I didn't feel connected to the story or the characters and didn't find myself wanting to come back.
I think if you like Romantacy you'll enjoy it, but I didn't.
Thank you for the ARC.
Truthfully, given how much we love this series, it can come as no surprise that we loved this third (5th?) installment in Jenny Hickman's Myths of Airren series. A Cursed Love is a rollercoaster of emotion, adventure and excitement from the moment you turn the first page, or in our case, the first word said.
After A Cursed Kiss and A Cursed Heart, audiences were left feeling somewhat contented with the epilogues, but there were certainly loose ends that needed to be addressed, namely Rian's vindictive mother, the Phantom Queen.
Jenny Hickman's ability to craft a story, weave the plot with twists and turns, hold the audience in suspense and anticipation, melt us into puddles of swoony goo and charm us with her delightful wit and snark continues with A Cursed Love. We were absolutely captivated by the story, how these two couples' narratives were woven together. We were also enchanted with he complexity of her worldbuilding, of the layers to the characters, and the continued exploration of humanity, tolerance, and kindness. Of love. Of relationships. Of intimacy. This story is deliciously spicy. We absolutely devoured it.
The book alone is legendary. Add in Zura Johnson and Zachary Johnson as the voice performers, and it becomes epic. Absolute perfection. I am continuously blown away by their level of performance, of their commitment to the story, and their ability to unwaveringly deliver the most brilliant performance of Jenny's words. They had us enthralled. Their speed, their inflection, their accents, their tone, their emotion - we absolutely felt every bit of it. They truly brought this story to life.
Do yourself a favour and listen to this story. The audiobook will transport you.
What a thrilling and satisfying conclusion to the series! I’m usually not a fan of a lot of POVs, but Jenny Hickman does a great job of using each voice to tell the story effectively. Just as soon as you think something’s over, two more events take their place. Never a dull moment.
Zachary Johnson makes the swoons men swoony-er, and Zura Johnson does a beautiful job bringing Aveen and Keelynn to life. Together, they made this rollercoaster of a story even more beautiful.
