Good book! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, Action, intrigue, mystery, murder, revenge, a great who done it, great plot twist, and some crazy twists and turns! It was also a bit different from what I normally read, but good different! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle!! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
A very engaging tale of ambition and revenge. Whilst not pacey as such, the slow unfolding of the story adds an intriguing menace to the plot. Lots of detestable characters to invest in, I found it gripping.
Someone Like You is a slow paced story. At times it is more verbose than it needs to be and the reader needs to pay close attention to get to the payback.
A need to crawl to the top, with the addition of some lies and secrets, make this a book that is interesting.
Well, I was a bit confused about this book, I thought I started reading a thiller, but it was more a drama/general fiction until I read about 90% of the book. Then, I got to the twists/truth coming out. The ending saves the book, in my opinion. It was really slow burn for the most part about Jemima's quest to get a role in plays.
Thanks to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for access to this arc in exchange for my honest review.
Someone Like You by Becky Alexander is just okay. I thought it would be more suspenseful, according to the synopsis. The story is a slow-burn tale of ambition, lies, and secrets. The story unfolds about how things can change in a split second and then have ripple effects for several years after.
It was a slow read for me and had too much exposition to explain things and describe the scenes and characters. I could not relate or get invested with any of the characters.
Plot 3/5
Characters 2/5
Writing 3/5
Pacing 3/5
There is an audience out there for this book, it was just not for me.

"Someone Like You" unfolds as a somber tale, tracing the challenges of an aspiring British actress. Despite not finding the main character, or any of the characters, particularly likable, I found myself unable to put it down.
In the realm of thrillers, this book is a slow burn, yet the writing consistently dangles subtle hints that kept me turning the pages, unable to resist seeing what would unfold.
The excellent writing kept me completely immersed in the story. Overall, "Someone Like You" is a gritty, well-written story that was hard to put down.
Hmmm, I'm a little confused with this one. I enjoyed reading the story, really disliked pretty much every character in the book, and felt that the blurb about the book was pretty misleading. This isn't really suspenseful at all, not a page-turner. It's more of a slow burn story about a young drama school graduate trying to make it in the London and New York acting worlds. It was interesting for what it was, and I enjoyed reading it, but it was not as advertised. That being said, the last 10 pages or so were pretty interesting.
If you like fairly unlikable young people who will do anything to achieve a dream, then you'll identify with this one.
3.5 stars, rounded down to 3 stars.
I received a complimentary copy of the novel from the publisher and NetGalley, and my review is being given freely.
Jemima is finally about to get her big break in acting and everything will finally be great in her world.
A rainy afternoon and evening spent reading this in one sitting. It is different from my normal go to reads. I soon got sucked into Jemima’s world and the time flew away from me.
A suspenseful cosy thriller without giving the game away it was not what I expected at all.
