One of the best Alex Finlay's I've read in a long time! I had shied away from his books for a while due to them being lackluster, but I really enjoyed this one.

WOW, what a book! Alex Finlay is an expert at crafting intricately woven plotlines that all come together to create a surprising and thrilling full-picture ending. Connecting the dots in his stories is also always a challenge, which I absolutely love. He gives *just* enough information for the reader to realize there are connections to be made, but leaves the door open wide enough to make many different predictions.

Prologues are always hit or miss for me, but this one had me in a complete chokehold. I could NOT wait to see how the case of missing teen Alison Lane played out. (I literally couldn't wait - I binged the entire book in less than 24 hours!) With multiple points of view and parallel storylines running concurrently, there was a lot to absorb in the beginning and it definitely took me a minute to keep track of all the characters, but that's expected. The story progressed quickly and never lacked action, never got boring, and never lost my interest. I also felt so connected to the characters and found myself rooting for Ryan right off the bat. Even the 'bad guys' were able to tug on my heartstrings at times.

This novel offered a deeply poignant look at the power of guilt and shame, the weight of revenge, and the peace that's possible within redemption. I laughed, I most definitely cried, and I gasped so many times I lost count. I've read all of Finlay's books, and this one is my favorite. I'll definitely be recommending this title and I expect it to be one of my top reads this year already. 10/10 from me!

Alex Finley is one of my favourite authors from the last couple of years. If Something Happens to Me was another super engaging story from Finley. I read the first half of the book in one sitting because it flowed so well and I needed to know what was going to happen. We'll let me tell you, so much happens!

A teen goes missing, another is bullied, one is accused of murder. It doesn't stop there...there's a European trip, mob hits, small town sheriff who can see through the lies, oh and several dead bodies.

Thank you to Netgalley and Minotaur Books for an advanced copy of If Something Happens to Me! Pick it up you won't be sorry! 4 stars

This multilayered fictional thriller by popular author Alex Finlay successfully hits many of the right notes that will make this a very popular book with mystery lovers. Short chapters and multiple characters thread this story with suspense and uncertainty. I found that a unique aspect of this story that was very well done was the interplay of good and evil, and how many of the characters personalities are revealed to be both. There are numerous moral and philosophical gray areas in the depiction of both protagonists and antagonists alike. Ultimately, the reader is taken on a thrilling roller coaster ride as the excitement builds to a dynamic conclusion.

My sincere thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press/Minotaur Books for the opportunity to read a digital ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

If Something Happens To Me is another fast moving story by Alex Finlay set in the middle of nowhere Kansas, the city of Brotherly Love and various places in Europe as new evidence emerges in a cold case of a missing teen. Ryan is a law student traveling with his class in Europe when he sees a man from his past tied to a terrifying night. Poppy McGee is a new deputy sheriff back in her hometown and when the car of a missing girl is pulled from a nearby lake they find two dead bodies and a mysterious note. Shane O’Leary is an influential Philadelphia businessman and will do anything to protect his family. The story unfolds as all of them try to find answers to their questions and eventually their stories intersect in ways they couldn’t imagine.

The pacing was perfect for this story and the fact that it follows several characters made it move even fast. The chapters are short and the POVs are clear for how often they switch. After a few chapters in I knew what was gonna happen in the story but i enjoyed the characters and was so engaged in the story that it didn’t phase me. Out of the four books by the author that I’ve read, this one moves into top spot.

I really enjoyed the short and alternating views that these chapters held. It made the book hard to put down when you see you only have a few minutes each chapter to read. I did enjoy this book a lot. I went in blind and so it may have taken me a bit to get on board but I was well and truly invested about the halfway point.

Thank you @netgalley for the ARC of If Something Happens to Me by Alex Finlay.

This is a fast paced unputdownable thriller. There are so many twists and turns and each chapter leaves you wanting to turn the page and find out what happens next. It’s told from multiple points of view with separate stories that intertwine.

Ryan Richardson and his girlfriend Alison are attacked in their car. Ryan is knocked out and when he wakes up, Alison is gone. Although nothing is proven, he lives under a cloud of suspicion in her disappearance. Five years later, he sees the man who attacked him and the pieces of the story start to come together.

This was a great thrilling suspense that I couldn't put down. It's hard to say much about this one without spoiling it, but it is a really well written plot. I could see it as a movie. When the story shifts from Part 1 to Part 2 it's a very satisfying plot twist/reveal.
This story really makes you think - the "bad guys" have a real reason to be and the "good guys" may not be really good. It made me pause to consider what lengths we go to protect our children. It's definitely not a happy book and as a mom of teens, I was sensitive to some parts. But it was a brilliant plot and story. Thanks to Netgalley, the publishers and the author for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

This was a very fast moving story. From page one it’s action and doesn’t stop. You may think you know where the story is going, but you have no idea. An abduction from the beginning that will set everything off. Multiple pov’s that will keep you interested. Liked it from the start.

A gripping psychological thriller filled with mobsters, good cops/bad cops and innocent people on the run. Twists and turns await you throughout the action packed pages.

High school sweethearts, Ryan Richardson and Alison Lane are suddenly ambushed one night when they are parked at Lover’s Lane, leaving Ryan with a crushing blow to the head and Alison missing. Amid allegations of his involvement in her disappearance, Ryan changes his last name and enters law school. Five years later, Alison’s submerged vehicle is raised from the bottom of a lake with two dead bodies in it and a cryptic note that somehow is still in tact. So begins this suspenseful tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat til the final page.

thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the advanced readers copy of Alex Finlay's If Something Happens to Me. THis is a interesting thriller, with a lot of twists. The book felt reminiscent of Gilian Flynn's Gone Girl in terms of the direction of the story starting in one direction and then bam! It completely flips on you. That was actually quite enjoyable.

In many ways, the book follows standard plot devices - with chapters rotating between three sets of characters. Sometime I find that approach is getting tired, but this one seems to work. An enjoyable read. And a satisfying end. Worth the read. Should be a good beach read this summer.

Woohoo!!!! Alex Finlay has wowed me yet again! I LOVED this book!!! It kept me on my toes, turning the pages with a gleeful smile on my face! This is how you do it! Anyone picking this book up to read is in for a treat! If Something Happens to Me is gripping, fast paced, shocking, perfectly plotted and kept me on the edge of my seat. I had no idea what I was getting into when I turned the very first page, and I loved every second of it.

A young teen is bullied at an elite school and the aftermath leaves his parents devastated.

Five years ago, Ryan Richardson was at lover's lane with his girlfriend, Alison, when suddenly a man opened the door yanking him from the car. Alison and her car were never seen again. Everyone thought Ryan was responsible but with no proof he has been able to move on even though the court of public opinion still believes him to be responsible. He has now moved on and while in Italy with his law school friends, he gets a call from his father informing him that Alison's car has been found.

Poppy McGee had just started her job as a deputy sheriff when a car if found. Inside is an envelope which reads "If something happens to me." She is up for the challenge and throws herself into the investigation and will stop at nothing until she gets some answers.

Wowza! This book was a well thought out, well written, fast paced page turner! It also has a nice amount of shocking twists and reveals. There are quite a few characters in this book, but it was easy to keep track of all of them. I loved how Finlay brought everything together in the end. Paths will cross, answers will be sought, tensions will rise, and readers will be left amazed. Finlay blew me away with this well thought out, well written and thrilling book.

Highly Recommend.

"If you're seeking revenge dig two graves- one for your enemy and one for yourself."

What a ride! Yes, revenge is a double-edged sword and this latest book by Alex Finlay is a shining example of what can go wrong when families vie for revenge. I was hooked by the end of the prologue and could not put this book down! Finlay has an art for creating multiple story lines that converge for a cohesive story. The story is told in several points of view including Ryan, a new deputy sheriff (Poppy), and a mobster (Shane O'leary). How these story lines connected was a masterpiece.

While Ryan and Alison, high school seniors, are spending some time on Lover's Lane, Alison is forcefully abducted and Ryan is knocked unconscious. Ali disappears and Ryan fights hard when he is considered a suspect. Five years later her car is found and the intense plot thickens and the fast-paced show begins! There were multiple jaw-dropping twists! We never know who we can truly trust!

I highly recommend this book for an entertaining read!
