I mistakingly requested this book, not knowing that it was in a series I began reading it and found that I really needed to read the first book and my local library does not yet have a copy.

This is the second in the Uncharted Hearts series, and Fay has proven that they really know how to write a prickly femme MC with a soft center. Like Temper from book 1, Cyn is on her own as a bounty hunter, and she has developed a tough outer shell to protect herself. The only beings she seems to let in are her pet lizard and her feisty older neighbor. Cyn has long wanted to catch the kidnapper who killed her cousin, and when an opportunity comes up to resume the hunt, she joins the crew of the Calamity and follows the trail to her home planet, which she hasn't visited since her cousin's death.
It was fun to be back on board the Calamity (from book one), to see the crew through Cyn's eyes, and to watch them each offer acceptance to the prickly bounty hunter in their own ways as they begin to work together. There were a couple fun plot twists that made this a truly engaging read, and a solid on-board romantic thread to keep things interesting.
As always, I really enjoy reads featuring found family, but in addition to that, this book does have some scenes of reconciliation with family of origin that are appropriately messy and heartfelt. I found myself less invested in the romance (though it was a good one), and more about the other relationships that surrounded the main couple, which I think is a testament to the strength of the secondary characters and their interactions.
I would recommend this book for fans of SciFi & Romance, for readers who like a good investigation with some plot twists, and for folks who enjoy watching misfits settle into their found family.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC, this is an unbiased review.

I am very thankful to have been gifted a copy of this book; however, at this point this book will be moving to my DNF shelf. It sounds like something I would have really enjoyed, and will happily come back and re-review once I am in a better mindset for the book.

The listing on Netgalley failed to indicate that this book was the 2nd in a series, and thus I cannot review it properly.

*Fiasco* by Constance Fay is an engaging and dramatic exploration of personal turmoil and the consequences of poor decisions. The story centers around characters whose lives spiral out of control, each facing the fallout of their actions. Fay's writing is sharp and raw, capturing the emotional depth and complexity of her characters. The plot unfolds with unexpected twists and turns, keeping readers hooked as they witness the characters' unraveling. Themes of redemption, failure, and self-realization are thoughtfully explored. *Fiasco* is a compelling read for those who enjoy character-driven stories that delve into human flaws and the messy realities of life.

Multi-facted Cyn is many things to many different people. In Fiasco, her job is as a bounty hunter. She is more than happy to take a bounty job going after a sworn enemy, but gets more than she bargained for when she accepts the job. She will have to lie, deceive, mislead, and ultimately betray the crew of Calamity but that is the last thing she wants to do. What could possibly go wrong?
Fiasco is a lively adventure that has Cyn travelling to the place she ran from many years ago. Trawlertown exists in a waterbound world where the sole purpose of the city is to harvest algae. Cyn’s family and much of her past are on Trawlertown, so expect to dive into Cyn’s history.
Fiasco did not continue with the crew of Calamity (book 1) like I thought it would. Cyn was a non-crew character in the first book. But the story quickly wraps around to the Calamity crew, tying the two together. The Calamity has some great characters so they need to be in this series.
One great character is medic Micah Arora, the man Cyn is expected to betray. The attraction between them is very mutual so things are going to get really sticky. Add a Calamity crew, loyal to Micah and not so convinced about Cyn and you have some tense moments. And that is before we even get to the bad guys.
The adventure is wild, full of great plans getting thwarted, intense moments between Cyn and Micah, and ultimately that big finale that will present a surprise for Cyn (and the reader) as well as the hoped for happy ending.
Through NetGalley, the publisher provided a copy of this book. My review is my honest opinion.

I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.

I had a lot of fun with the previous book in Fay’s sci-fi rom com series, Calamity, so I was excited for this one. I love having a story I get invested in aside from the romance aspects and I also had a lot of fun with this one. Much like Calamity, Fiasco is also mostly a sci-fi lite read. Don’t get me wrong, there are classic sci-fi components like space travel and shield suits etc. But all the components are easy to follow even if you aren’t familiar with the concepts. I also really enjoyed the plot with bounty hunting and hunting a serial kidnapper. The romance side was supportive and focused on building trust and healing and was sweet.
Fiasco definitely had a bit of everything, adventure, mystery, family drama and love. While I think Fiasco can be enjoyed as a standalone, I recommend reading Calamity as it has some world building along with some characters that return in Fiasco.

Honestly was intrigued by the premise but this ended up not being my cup of tea. Don't know if I would recommend or read more works in this verse.

This was fine... I just don't think we needed a follow up from the first. The stakes felt very low and I didn't feel connected to the characters. It wasn't bad but I don't know that I would recommend per se.

4.5 stars.
I read the first book in Constance Fay’s series, Calamity, last year and absolutely loved it! So when I found out there’d be a sequel, Fiasco, taking place in the same world and among the same found family group as in Calamity, I was all over it! The anticipation was real, and I can’t begin to describe how excited I was when I received an early copy of Fiasco.
Unlike Calamity, which took me a little longer to get through due to a reading slump, I devoured Fiasco in just two days—this is fast for me. I think the quick pace was partly because I was sucked into the story faster due to already familiar with the world and characters. The chemistry between the main couple was also more intense and immediate this time around.
Funny enough, though, even though I felt the chemistry quicker in Fiasco, I found myself liking the main couple in Calamity just a tad more. I can’t quite explain why; maybe it’s just a personal preference or the unique dynamics in Calamity that left a lasting impression. Regardless, both couples and their stories brought me a lot of joy!
Both Calamity and Fiasco were equally fun for me—the narrative style, the banter between characters, and the immersive worldbuilding were all quite memorable for me. I need the next book in the series, Chaos, in my hands as soon as possible.

It’s always so refreshing to find sci-fi, space themed romances. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book and thought this would pick up where the over left off but it’s not. Instead we have a new set of love interests but the team from the first book does come back for This one. I was confused at first lol.
Overall this was a very sexy and fun book. I really enjoyed it. I love reading Sci fi from a woman’s perspective

I desperately want more sci-fi romance like Fiasco by Constance Fay! This book follows Cyn and Micah, who we met in Calamity, as they grow closer together and work to resolve issues from Cyn's past. Fay is great at keeping up the suspense (in plot and romance). I need book 3...right now. Please!?
Fay is the type of author who becomes an instant favorite. I will consume anything she writes.
If you like Jessie Mihalik, Valerie Valdes, Kit Rocha, or Everina Maxwell, I think you'll love Fiasco. And Calamity for that matter.

Once again, Constance Fey delivers a book full of action, intrigue, and romance. I can see her layering on the over arching storyline first presented in Calamity. I can't wait to see where she takes us next.
Cyn is such a strong, smart, capable spitfire full of self doubt and insecurities. She felt very real. I loved Micah and his strength and support, holding Cyn up when she couldn't stand. They fit together so well.
One of my favorite things in romance is when a character is so against happiness and having a life totally opposite of what they believe they can have or deserve, realizes they can have it, that they do want it, bc they have a strong partner who will walk beside them. FIASCO accomplishes this. Loved it.

Fiasco was a great second book in the Uncharted Hearts series. I really enjoyed getting to know Cyn and Micha and watching their dynamic play out. Also, I love a good plot twist and watching that and not expecting the twist was super fun. I hope we get more book sin this series because I can wait to get back to this universe.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review!

Book Summary:
Cymbeline Khaw, aka Cyn, is a dangerous woman. There are rumors all over the galaxy about her – and Cyn is totally comfortable leaving others to speculate about the truth. It makes it easier for her to complete her missions.
Unfortunately, her latest mission is coming with a bit of a complication – it's bringing her face to face with a crew determined to break down her barriers. But it's worth that risk because Cyn will do just about anything to track down this bounty – it's personal for her.
My Review:
I'm not going to lie; when I heard that there was going to be a second novel (and hopefully more) in this series, I did NOT expect Cyn to be the primary perspective. Not that I'm complaining; it's nice to be kept on one's toes.
Fiasco is the second in the series, and the primary crew is largely the same as the first novel. That said, there are a few significant differences. For starters, Cyn isn't part of the crew (much as they would have liked to change that in the last book). So we get to see the whole found family element from an outsider getting pulled in.
Cyn's story is...a lot. I mean that in the best of ways. She has a complex backstory full of secrets and pain. Makes it easier to root for her, even when she's being an idiot. I have a lot more I could say on this subject (and I may have deleted a sentence or two), but I don't want to dive too far into spoiler territory.
I loved the blend of action, drama, and romance in Fiasco. And I'm happy to report that the Calamity crew is still going strong – there is clearly more to this story, and I am here for it.
Highlights:
Science Fiction
Romance
Misfit Crew/Found Family
Revenge in Space

The sci-fi version of Romantasy. Super cute! I absolutely love Cyn and Micah. There are some serious Firefly vibes but if that's not your thing, it's still great. You have a motely crew on a spaceship but you also have a unique planet with family drama and plenty of tension. I loved that while romance is a big part of the story, it's still focused on the rescue. The reader also gets to see Cyn grow and reconnect with her family in a sweet and tender way. She gets to see them from a new perspective and it gives her a greater appreciation for them and vice versa. The romance is a delight and there is some great spice.
I didn't read the first one, so I'm definitely jumping back to read that one and I'm very much looking forward to see what characters get their happily ever after next.

**TL;DR**: Another fun entry in this series, this one had me laughing less than the first and the twist was a bit predictable but I enjoyed myself regardless.
**Source**: NetGalley, and I purchased a copy - so thanks to the publisher and myself!
**Plot**: Cy is a bounty hunter chasing the person who kidnapped and killed her cousin. We met her briefly in the first book and now we return as she also meets back up with the Calamity crew to find this kidnapper.
**Characters**: Cy is a bit of the ‘hard edge’ woman we get a lot in romance novels but we got a lot of Itzel and I would eat a book about Itzel up, so I’m pleased.
**Setting**: Most of the book takes place on a primarily aquatic island, which is cool! It wasn’t super detailed but I still had a lot of fun with it.
**Romance/Scifi**: The romance, though here didn’t over take the story. I enjoyed a lot of the sci-fi aspects and touches too. It’s very Sci-fi lite so if you’re on board with that, it’s great.
**Thoughts**:
I really loved Calamity last year, and Fiasco is the follow up to that novel involving the crew of the Calamity. We get very little of our characters from Calamity and our primary PoV character for Fiasco was a bit of a surprise! The romance between her and Micah, the ship’s medic, is integral to the plot but we focus more on the pursuit and apprehension of a kidnapper haunting the system.
Cy is a bounty hunter who has been hunting this kidnapper since she was a young adult. She’s scarred (literally and figuratively) and a jaded and is given a job that she thinks will let her finally catch the culprit. To do this she has to work with the Calamity crew (for the second time) and return to her home world. Her romance in this revolves around Micah, the crew’s medic but doesn’t overly overpower the plot. This is something I really appreciate in these books. Constance Fay does a great job of keeping these books plot forward and romance secondary.
I’ll say the twist in this was fairly predictable, at least for me I saw this coming from a mile away, and a few things such as Micah’s sense of augmented smell felt a little dues ex machina. However on the whole I could ignore those and enjoy the book for all it was. If you enjoyed Calamity I think Fiasco is a fun follow-up and worth your time.
4 out of 5 super noses

The crew of the Calamity (paper) is back. In a far future dominated by rich families, they have to help bounty hunter Cynbelline Khaw, who they knew with a different name in the first tale. She has to rescue a hidden daughter of one of the high families from the Abyssal Abductor, a kidnapper who killed her cousin. Unfortunately that means a trip to the floating city on her home planet. She also has to turn over the crew’s doctor, Micah Arora, to another member of a high family. This is a Fiasco (paper from Bramble) because she is falling for him. Constance Fay keeps the action exciting with lots of twists and turns, even an attack by Pirates on the water- covered Gindisik known for the algae it processes. I expect that further adventures will come for the crew. I really enjoyed both adventures so far.

Fiasco is a space adventure following bounty hunter Cyn Khaw as she tries to track down her cousin’s murderer after years of trying. Cyn is reunited with the crew of the Calamity, even thought they knew her as Generosity, an adventure covered in the previous book.
There was a lot going on plot wise in this book with some carryover from book one while also providing new people to meet and locations to travel to. Cyn spends most of her time with Calamity crew members Micah, Caro, and Itzel. As the crew works together to bring a kidnapper and mirderer to justice Cub is forced to revisit her childhood home and deal with past trauma. She and Micah become a lot closer than bunk mates and after some wild twists and turns they make it to happily ever after.
I really enjoyed this follow up book (more than the first if I’m being honest). I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more books in this series.
