Dispersals contans a nice collection of essays that I enjoyed. As with most essay collections, I liked some parts more than others. My favorite essays were more memoir focused, which explored the author's emotional connection between plants ,her family and memories. I LOVE the author's vivid descriptions throughout the book. She is especially skilled with describing colors and textures. All the essays cover some historical information about the plant. Some of the essays were more heavy on the historical details, which I tended to skim through.
The essays I enjoyed in partiular were:
-Frontier (plant exploration and collection)
-Sweetness (mangos)
-Tidal (algae and seaweed)
-Bean (soy bean)
-Sour Fruit (citrus)
-Pinetum (pine tree)
-Synonmys for Mauve (heather)
