An Honorable Viscount. My fellow Readers.I loved this story from the author, Jessica Clements a lot. Thank you to the writer for creating a story with a who done it mystery. On top of that the writer shared with her readers a very erotic romance story.
The main couple, James and Margaret are amazing. They are two main strong hero’s in the book. They are terrific with keeping the story moving with their passionate love affair that is both beautiful and desirable. Friends and family wants nothing but the best and happiness for them. But there are other foes who come to wreak havoc across London.
The suspense from the mystery was a fantastic who done it. The introduction of some good action and skills sets from the characters was great. The writing was exceptional. I was very entertained. The story was very good.
I was intrigued all the way to the end. I look forward to the next book in this series. I give this book two snaps and a, Jeffries, watch out with what bed fellows that you sleep with. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!
Spies, lies and assassins. James Kirby, Viscount Riverton, is still recovering from his injured leg at Wayerloo, but that doesn't stop him from working with Tarleton and Valor and Honor Investigative Services. In this book, he is at the center of command to protect everyone working together to stop the Priest. It's one life threatening incident after another. This plot moves so quickly you barely have time to turn the page and ends with a cliffhanger.
I recommend reading the first book before reading this one. The characters are connected through friends and family. Surprise relationships come into play, legal and illegitimate. Descriptive sex between James and his wife, an assassin working for Tarleton.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley.
A good story by Jessica A. Clements featuring James Kirby, a former soldier in Her Majesty's Army and the new Viscount Riverton, a title he did not expect to inherit. He is also one of the members of a group of highly trained professionals known as the Valour and Honour Investigators and owner of a shipping line, currently transporting a dangerous convicted criminal to Australia. He is trying to determine if the ship and this dangerous criminal have since reached its destination. Unfortunately, unknown to him yet, said criminal has been able to extort the captain with information he has on him and jumped ship and is making his way back to London.
Whie waiting for word from the ship’s captain, James meets with Tarleton, spymaster extraordinaire who wants James to investigate the death of Lady Margaret Stapleton’s fiancé, killed in the line of duty. Lady Margaret Stapleton’s is one of Tarleton’s prodigies and one of his best spies and assassins. Tarleton is keen to find the person who killed Margaret’s fiancé and decides to play matchmaker at the same time. He has James and Margaret work together on this case.
A thoroughly enjoyable story that was fast-paced and a nice departure from the usual historical romance. Well worth a read and a terrific addition to the current series.
I received an ARC from the author and NetGalley and submit my honest review.
Such a great book! He is part of a group of spies from the Crown. She is part of the same group... but she is an expert assassin. When they are paired up in a mission, things happen and their love for each other shows up. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
Regency Romance with Suspense and Intrigue
James and Margaret must unite to defeat a ruthless enemy intent on murder. He struggles with a leg injury from the war, but he will not let that stop him from doing what he must. Margaret is a dangerous assassin, and she is someone James is lucky to have by his side. A matchmaking spymaster has an agenda, but James and Margaret are willing. Will they survive the ruthless killer hunting them? This story is action-packed and steamy. You can read it as a standalone story, but it is best to read the prior book in the series to understand how it all began. The story does not end on a cliffhanger, but you know there will be more coming. I look forward to the next book.
An Honorable Viscount by Jessica A Clements is the second in her Of Valor and Honor series. It is the story of James Kirby, the new Viscount Riverton, formerly a soldier in Her Majesty’s Army who had been wounded at the Battle of Waterloo. He had not lost his leg but sometimes he though he might have been better off without it, the pain that it caused. He was the owner of a shipping line and was concerned about a man who had been exiled to Australia and was being transported on one of his ships. There was no way to know if they had made it or not until their returned or he got word from a ship who had been in contact with it. The man on it had been very dangerous and had killed many people. Tarleton, the spymaster for whom James worked was concerned as well. As it turned out, Jeffers, the criminal, had blackmailed the captain of the ship and was on his way back to England, to cause more trouble. Margaret was the niece of Tarleton as well as an operative and he had an eye to playing matchmaker.
This was an adventure. And a battle, albeit a small one. Margaret and James worked together well in thwarting the evil currently afield. It was full of well-written and interesting characters as well as a plot which kept the reader on the edge of their seat. More than a romance, less than all-out war, the plot progressed a a good pace and involved many people as well as the past. It was a good read.
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of An Honorable Viscount by Dragonblade, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #JessicaAClements #AnHonorableViscount
This is a continuing story building on some of the characters and situations from the previous book.
Viscount James Kirby struggles with his injuries that he received on the battlefield. Lady Margaret Stapleton, disowned by her family, is a deadly trained assassin for the Spy Master, Tarleton. Lady Margaret's work with the Valor and Honor Investigators is extremely important to her. The story has plenty of danger and is action packed.
If you ever want to have a story continue after it ends, this is the series for you. In this book we learned more about the characters and the danger to individuals we met in the first book. Some dangerous plots cannot be wrapped up in just one book.
I received an ARC from Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my review.
Suspenseful and fast-paced, this novel is part of a series, and one would need to read the books in order to grasp an understanding of the plot. With a spymaster also playing the part of a matchmaker, romance is rife and despite the tension, love finds a way. With one enemy taken care of, the novel closes on something of a cliffhanger as the Priest continues to play his deadly games. I received a copy of this book as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Great story! Not the usual romance story. It's much more of a spy/mystery story. The first thing to keep in mind is that this is the second book so I very strongly recommend reading it first to get familiar with all the characters and back story. An additional different is Lady Margaret's skills and job. Rarely do you find a female in the role that she's in. In the meantime, James is strong but recovering from both war and war injuries. Overall a page turner with wonderful characters. I can't wait for the next book.
Viscount Jame Kirby is still struggling with the wounds he gained on the battlefield. That will not stop his work with the men and women known as Valor and Honor Investigators.
Lady Margaret Stapleton has faced heartache and loss. With the help of the spy master Tarleton she has rebuilt her life. She is also his best assassin.
This is an action packed historical romance filled with danger. If you have read any of the previous books in the series you will have met a few of our characters before, and it will give you the back story to better understand what is happening. But you can still enjoy this one on its own.
Exciting story.
Expecting a romance with some action, I was rather disappointed and confused when it turned out to be a historical spy-murder-mystery with some romance and little steam.
Action-packed and moving like a train, it has a promising plot and a large cast of interesting characters. But I found it hard to follow the story jumping around from one character to another. It moves along so fast the finer detail of the story gets lost or is left unexplained.
The romance was nice, but it all was a little too easy. It would have been nice if the story was a little more focused on the main couple. Each character on his/her own is well-developed, but their relationships - romantical, friendship, family, brotherhood - aren’t.
The villains are truly horrid and bloodthirsty, stopping at nothing to achieve their goal.
It’s a clever story, but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a romance.
This book wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t for me.
James Kirby had been a soldier in the Royal Dragoons when his life turned upside down. He inherited a title he was never supposed to inherit and barely survived the Battle of Waterloo. While trying to pick up the pieces of his life, James with the help of his friends, start a group of men and women known as Valor and Honor Investigators. Lady Margaret Stapleton had lost more than her fiancé, she lost herself. Tarleton, the spymaster, and family friend trained her to be his most successful spy and assassin. Her world gets turned upside down when she is paired with James on a mission to find the killer responsible for her fiancé’s death.
The second book in the series & I feel it would be best read after the first as events do follow on. An action packed book with strong characters, the good guys are very likeable & the villains are horrid. I really liked both James & Margaret but felt their romance played second fiddle to the events taking place. I am enjoying the series even though a character I liked didn’t get to have his HEA & I’m looking forward to reading how the series plays out
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Action packed from beginning to end, with wonderful characters and extreme villains. A spy vs spy, good vs evil sanity vs lunacy, kind of love story and more in the series to look forward to. Reading the previous one in the series will likely add to the whole picture.
I received an ARC from Netgalley and leaving my review voluntarily.
This is one of the few books that had hooked from the beginning, it was so easy for me to read. Once I started reading it I couldn’t stop!.
A continuing storyline, second book in the series.
Intrigue, murder and mayhem.
Lots of characters to keep track of while jumping from one scene to another.
James and Margaret have their challenges before they can come together but they are not the only lovers in this book.
I look forward to the next book to further delineate people and events.
