Kieran Scott's *People Will Talk* is a riveting "whodunit" mystery that blends intrigue, suspense, and unpredictable twists. This novel is a true page-turner, captivating readers from the very first chapter to the last.

When the Frank family throws their annual clambake at their gorgeous beachside home on Cape May, Peter Frank, the beloved son and perennial heartbreaker, charms every woman on the guest list. This year, Maya, his tennis star girlfriend; Catherine, his high school sweetheart; and Leanne, his son’s aunt, are lured into a room by a mysterious text, only to find Peter and his new fiancée, Tilly. The announcement of their impromptu wedding sets off a chain of events that leads to Tilly's death and leaves Maya, Catherine, and Leanne as prime suspects.

The ladies make compelling protagonists, and find themselves caught in a web of intrigue as the women must work together to uncover the truth behind Tilly's murder. The narrative is tight and well-constructed, maintaining a quick pace without sacrificing depth. Scott's skillful character development and sharp dialogue add layers to the mystery, ensuring the suspense is sustained throughout.

Reading a story with many points of view made me realize how easily overwhelmed I get by multiple perspectives. It felt like I was bombarded with too many emotions and thoughts at once. This experience brought to light how sensitive I am to the nuances of different characters and their experiences.

I often find myself deeply affected by each character's story, feeling their joys and sorrows as if they were my own. When a narrative switches between numerous viewpoints, it becomes challenging for me to keep up with the emotional rollercoaster. The constant shift makes me anxious and sometimes even frustrated, as I struggle to process the myriad of emotions being presented.

This sensitivity isn't always a bad thing. It allows me to empathize deeply with others and understand diverse experiences on a profound level. However, it also means that stories with multiple perspectives can be particularly taxing for me. It's a delicate balance between appreciating the richness of diverse viewpoints and protecting my own emotional well-being.

In conclusion, while multi-perspective stories can be enlightening, they also highlight my sensitivity and the need to manage how much emotional input I can handle at once. This realization has been important in understanding my own limits and finding ways to enjoy literature without feeling overwhelmed.

A high society clambake with a surprise wedding turns into a murder investigation. There are three perspectives, Catherine, Leanne, and Maya, who are all connected through the groom, Peter Frank. Each woman has a motive for murder, but who cut the rope?

This is my first novel by this author, and it was a fun time! Short chapters made for a quick read.

“People Will Talk” is cross between chick lit and mystery. We follow the perspectives of Leanne, Maya, and Catherine as they try to clear their names and work through their pasts. The characters are well-developed, each with their own distinct personalities and motivations. I was frustrated by, but ended up really liking, Catherine, was surprised by Maya, and admired Leanne. This had me hooked from the first page. I made a note to myself in the first half of the book, thinking I knew who did it, but boy was I wrong! The twist at the end was superb. I loved the writing style, the short chapters, the plot, the characters. It was a great book! It was a lighter read, and I enjoyed the women’s dynamics as well as the gradually deepening mystery. This is exactly the kind of vacation book I’d recommend for those who love suspense and a mix of romance. Thank you Kieran Scott, Netgalley and, Gallery Books. It is much appreciated and I enjoyed the read and the opportunity to share my feedback.

I have absolutely loved Scott’s two prior adult books, and was excited to have the opportunity to read her new one early. Unfortunately I binged it in a day, and now I have to wait awhile for her next killer read!

Peter Frank is rich, close to his family, and a total heartbreaker. When his ex, his current girlfriend, and the sister of his deceased baby mama are all invited to what turns out to be his surprise wedding and his new wife ends up dead, there are plenty of people around with a motive to kill.

If you love rich people behaving badly, juicy gossipy reads, and a classic whodunnit, this is the summer read for you. Add it to your list ASAP! Short chapters, intriguing characters, multiple POVs, and a man you’ll love to hate make this one a binge worthy and captivating read.

The women each have distinct personalities, each with their own connections to Peter and his family, and watching the three of them play off of each other was incredibly entertaining. After all, what’s a little back stabbing between frenemies?

Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery books for the ARC. All opinions are my own,

This was my first Kieran Scott book and won’t be my last! I don’t usually ready thriller novels (more of a romance reader), but this book kept me so entertained! I could not put it down! Read almost the entire book in one sitting on my flight. So many twists and turns! And I truly did not see the ending coming!

Cozy thriller told through multi-viewpoints.

Though I liked the short chapters and writing style I found myself skimming. Enjoyable enough but it didn't hold my interest. I gave it three stars because of the writing and short chapters.

I started this ARC last week and genuinely wanted to love it. I think, though, this one just wasn’t for me. The characters felt underdeveloped, the writing seemed immature, and the chapters jumped around like crazy. The story was told from multiple POV, which you know I love, so that was a redeeming quality. The murder mystery was exciting, though I had the murder pegged by about 1/3 of the way through the book. Still, it was a fun read, just not my favorite.

Kieran Scott is fabulous at writing quick, entertaining murder mysteries. There are guaranteed to be twists, betrayal, juicy secrets, and characters who you love to hate. This was my first book of Scott's, and a great introduction to their writing. A fab twist at the end kept me on my toes!

"People Will Talk" is another exciting and twisty mystery from Kieran Scott. As a huge fan of her YA series and recent adult novels, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book, and it did not disappoint. Told from multiple points of view, the story will make you question everyone and everything. The story is full of lies, betrayals, and juicy secrets, making it a perfect poolside or beach read this summer. There are characters who you will hate to love and love to hate (ahem, Peter). This was such a quick and light murder mystery that I devoured the entire book in less than a day. Highly recommend!

Thank you Gallery Books and Kieran Scott for the gifted digital ARC!

What a fun and twisty ride this turned out to be! I *loved* Scott's last novel, Regrets Only, so I was really excited to get my hands on an early copy of this one too.

We get three different points of view for this story and a couple of them are truly hard to root for. The end definitely threw me for a loop and I really enjoyed having the rug pulled out from under me.

Scott is definitely an auto-buy author for me at this point, I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

People Will Talk pub date: July 30.

✨Book Review - People will Talk✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

*I was provided this book free of charge by @NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Kieran Scott has been one of my auto buy authors since I was in grade school, so I’ve been reading her books for almost 20 years and I don’t think I’ve ever been disappointed.

For people will talk, I was thinking “hm I bet I know who did it” pretty early on, but oh my gosh was I blind sided! To the very last page I was guessing what was going to happen and I audibly gasped at the big reveal at the end.

I am always impressed with Kieran’s ability to make the reader hate certain characters, even when other characters love them, and I despised Peter from the beginning. Of course Tilly was a terrible person and honestly she got what she deserved, but I feel like Peter really needed to be punished. Though realistically, someone that wealthy and connected is never going to have to face the consequences of their actions.

Overall, without spoiling the story, I’ll just tell you that if you want a quick, light, murder mystery, full of twists and turns and betrayal, this is for you! People will talk is the perfect summer read full of juicy gossip, scandals, lies, and money! Get it June 30th!

It wouldn’t be SUMMER without the Frank family’s annual clambake!

There is alway crashing waves, flowing champagne 🥂 and a BIG announcement. But, no announcement has ever been BIGGER than the one made THIS year!

It turns out-there is going to be an impromptu wedding at the clambake-Peter Frank will be marrying a gorgeous heiress named Tilly-NOT Maya-his tennis star girlfriend who has just arrived after winning Wimbledon-

and he hasn’t even bothered to let Maya know that she would be attending his wedding to someone else.

Also invited, his high school sweetheart Catherine, now a successful wedding planner and influencer and Leanne, his only son Hudson’s Aunt and legal guardian.

“MEET ME IN MY ROOM AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENT”

Lured by a text, the three women are gathered together so Tilly can explain that not only will Peter be marrying her instead of Maya, but he also will no longer be investing in Catherine’s company, and that Leanne must now give up guardianship of her nephew, as Tilly plans to raise him with his father.

But when a CHANDELIER falls and CRUSHES the bride, the three women suddenly realize that they have just been set up to be the most likely suspects in a murder-each with a strong motive!

The question is “WHO was actually RUTHLESS enough to kill Tilly?”
(Though, I also wondered, what all of these women saw in Peter!! 🤔)

Although I didn’t enjoy this one as much as her previous books, “Wish You Were Gone” and “Regrets Only”, readers who LOVE a good sudsy SOAP OPERA should enjoy this!

There are plenty of suspects in attendance, and with the many cover-ups, I kept changing my mind on who was responsible although ultimately I did guess correctly.

And, be sure to enlarge and take a look at the enticing GORGEOUS book cover!

Thanks so much for the ARC! Loved that this was a quick read and it was well written. I love whodunnits and any take on them so this was right up my alley. A fun book!

What an interesting thriller. A whodunnit sort of story that explored complexities of relationships with one another. Catherine, Maya, and Leanne all having alternate POV as well as motives. Lots of finger pointing and evidence, coverups and investigations. I thought I had it figured out just for the hots to keep coming. Great pace of the story, and man Peter was so unlikeable and Tilly sucked! Added a new word to my vocabulary as well: “sluiced”. Would definitely check out another book by this author!

People Will Talk by Kieran Scott
Peter invites the three closest women in his life to a clambake which is actually his wedding. Maya is surprised because she thought they were getting engaged. By the end of the night the bride is dead and everyone is a suspect. This book attempts to skewer the upper class and privledge. The mystery of who killed the bride is truly a mystery to the end. The author throws a bunch of red herrings at you, and a second mystery. Catherine, I guess, is my favorite character since she is the most dimensional and has a character arc. The big problem is that none of the other characters are likeable at all. Really all these women are fighting over Peter?!? Why? This book was billed as having the same vibe as Glass Onion and it did, a lot of promise and a bit of a letdown in delivery.
3 stars Thanks to Gallery Book and Net Galley for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book really did not appeal to me and the pacing was too slow at times. The characters were not pleasant at all.
