3 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is my first book by this author. While I enjoyed the writing style and the quick chapters, the storyline fell a bit flat for me and I found it kind of boring at times.

The synopsis sounded really interesting. Glass Onion meets Big Little Lies. Three women are in a heap of trouble after a murder at a wedding. What sounds boring about that?

I feel like some characters weren’t developed very well and the reveal was just so-so for me. I’d be willing to give this author another shot.

Thank you to NetGalley, Gallery Books and Kieran Scott for my advanced copy to read and review.

Kieran Scott always entertains and her latest novel People Will Talk had me captivated from start to finish! This gem is a romance novel wrapped in a cozy mystery and I was here for it! The characters were surprisingly endearing (I say surprisingly because you weren’t sure if one of them was a murderer lol) and I found the storyline refreshingly unique. I adore the Jersey Shore so the fact that this novel takes place in Cape May was the icing on the cake for me! People Will Talk is a perfect beach read and I recommend everyone put it on their summer read list!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I loved the different characters and the intricacies with the main male character and how their lives all weaved together. I made a notation in the first half of the book, thinking I knew who did it. Thank God I was wrong! And the ending with that little twist to it. Bravo! I loved the writing style, the short chapters, the plot, the characters. It was a great book! When this is released, I will be buying a physical copy for my bookshelf! Definitely recommend!

The description of this book compares it to Glass Onion and Big Little Lies, and it definitely has some elements of both of these. There are a lot of unpleasant, rich people doing unpleasant things (often because of the privilege of being rich, and unpleasant). The book is told from the point of view of three women who are all connected to Peter, who’s an unpleasant, rich playboy. Peter’s surprise bride (who’s obviously unpleasant and rich) gets killed the night after the wedding and all three women find themselves suspects.

I liked the premise and how the plot unfolded, even if the pacing was a little slow at times. I liked we had those three POVs, and the dynamics that created. At the same time, I felt the focus on the three women, stopped other characters to be fleshed out properly. For example, the women revolve around Peter, but we don’t really get to know him at all. We just see some flashes of him. We see even less of his mother who is very important to him. I also found it difficult to relate to most of the characters, because they were so unpleasant.

As for the mystery, I thought there were so good plot points, but because the majority of the characters weren’t really fleshed out, some twists felt a little farfetched.

I wasn't expecting People Will Talk to read so much like a satire. There's an audience who will love this style and all of the characters, but it wasn't for me. However, I still think the setup is intriguing and I'll definitely be on the lookout for the author's next book.

Fairly predictable rom com but it was still a good read that I enjoyed. But I don't see myself rereading this.

This was a fun read! A good ‘whodunnit’ story that follows three possible women or should I say suspects? 😏 You get POV’s from all the women and they’re all rather likable. At one point, I was not feeling Catherine but by the end she had won me over again. 🤍 It had some unexpected surprises towards the end of the book and it hit me like a wrecking ball. I didn’t see any of it coming. Kieran does a great job “throwing off the scent” in my opinion. My first from this author and I’m so glad I found her. She will definitely be on my radar for future books and I plan on checking out her other one Regrets Only. ☺️

*Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for providing this book, with my honest review below*

Kieran Scott is definitely one to watch in this cross between chick lit and mystery (more the latter than the former). We follow the perspectives of Leanne, Maya, and Catherine as they try to clear their names and work through their pasts. I was frustrated by, but ended up loving, Catherine, was surprised by Maya, and admired Leanne. Who I didn’t love? Peter… definitely would have liked to see more accountability there.
This was a lighter read, and I enjoyed the women’s dynamics as well as the gradually deepening mystery. Exactly the kind of vacation book I’d recommend for those who love suspense and a mix of romance or for someone on the go who wants to pick this back up after a busy few days and not feel like they missed a beat.

Thank you again for the ARC, Gallery Books. It is much appreciated and I enjoyed the read and the opportunity to share my feedback.

People Will Talk is a swift-moving mystery which involves three women and their relationships with one man, Peter. The characters in the book involve some who are extremely well-heeled; a woman who is a Wimbledon winner with a dark, mobster father; a woman who runs a successful bakery; and a third who is an upscale wedding planner. Peter also has a son and a devious mother. A surprising murder is committed, and there are others that have been committed in the past. Although the plot involves a number of relationships, Kieran Scott keeps all avenues for action clear and timely. If the plot is not full-on satire, it comes close.

This book is enjoyable and a fast read. Scott writes well and with clear descriptions of personalities and their motives.

Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book.
