I received this book years ago when I first joined NetGalley and no longer have access to the story to complete a review.

Based on the synopsis the story definitely looks like something I would be interested in.

I received a copy of this book via net-galley for an honest review, and honestly, I hated it! There was just something about this book that made it hard for me to fall in love and root for the main character. I really just didn't care about Twigs and I found her to be rather rude. More than anything though, I think I just didn't like the way this was written. Some of the things that the author wrote just didn't make sense to me, like this for instance,

Very slow to start. and a fairly meandering plot. Plenty of self-reflection but not always enough cause and effect for events.

I don't typically jump for contemporary novels, but this one caught my eye. I love a good underdog story, and especially one that comes across as genuine instead of contrived.
