Preteen Devotional for Boys is a great devotional for boys. The format is quick and topical. Each day starts out with a bible verse and then a reflection to relate the verse. After that, there are questions for reflection. Finally, there is a prayer. The topics to help the boys reflect will keep their interest. Wonderfully done.

I really enjoyed this book. I've been looking for something similar to help expand my relationship with God and this was absolutely perfect to achieve my goals.

When I saw this book I was excited to check it out because there's a gap in literature for the 9-15yo age ranges. However, this book is written with a language for smaller children. More importantly, this devotional uses scriptures out of context. You don't make it past day one when you see Jeremiah 29:11 as the scripture about God wanting you to prosper. Nothing about the hardships (like captivity in Babylon) being for our good.
Kids deserve better biblical literacy than this. Kids can handle deeper thinking and correct interpretation.

The layout of each reading was well done. The passages chosen to highlight each topic were a good fit. The reading level and explanation piece I think is better suited to younger children. Older preteens (9-12yrs) might not be captivated enough with every section but it could easily hold the attention for those younger readers (6-9yrs) especially if read aloud. Having each week have it's own theme in the title also works well for referencing past reads.
