thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
I received Hate in return for an honest review via Netgalley.
Madison Kate was murdered or at least that's what everyone though, and now she's back in her dad's house but everything had changed. Now she's living with her step brothers who work for her dad and he's avoiding her. She wants revenge for what happened to her and they are living down the hall. However, the more time she spends with the guys the more she see things may not be as they seem.
I liked Madison Kate right from the start she's a great character and I love her guys but I'm a sucker for a morally grey man. I truly enjoyed the banter and chemistry between Madison Kate and the men. Each one is unique and brings something different and I hope as the series progress things work it's way out.
This isn't my first book by Tate James she's one of my favorites and I can't believe I haven't read this series yet. I love the author's writing style she tells a captivating beautiful story that kept me hooked till the very last page. I'm not a huge fan of Cliffhangers but talk about the way to end the story. I need the next one now, and since they are all out I'm going to devour them all because I'm hooked. Highly recommend because Hate was amazing and I loved every moment of it.
OMG !! Thank you so much for the chance to read this book.. I have never read anything by Tate James but this book made me want to read more of her stuff.. This book was amazing.. I have never read a book about MMA fighters before but it is a topic I will be reading more of for sure.. Recommend? 100% for sure.. ~Happy Reading~
Absolutely loved this book! I kept hearing about the "Madison Kate" series and didn't understand the hype, but I do now!!
** spoiler alert ** To quote Ten Things I Hate About You, "I know you can be underwhelmed and you can be overwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?" This book left me whelmed.
I've read my fair share of RH books, and this one seemed like it was ticking off a checklist.
✔️ Spunky heroine with a backbone made of steel
✔️ Forced proximity that's slightly unexplainable
✔️ Heroes who bully yet are secretly smitten with the heroine
I liked this book enough to get through it, but I likely won't be finishing the series which sucks because I want to know who the stalker is and how everything is related to her mother's death.
I loved this! it was the perfect start to a series; it kept me wanting more and more. especially, the ending?!?!? picking up book 2 ASAP.
Hate by Tate James
The new Bloom Books cover definitely added to why I wanted to read this book. The plot was built up quickly, but plateaued in the middle, only to start heating up in the end; I have a love/hate relationship with cliffhangers, and I’m definitely ready to find out what happens in the next chapter.
Blurb:
“Madison Kate Danvers was murdered tonight.”
Those words changed my life, and not for the better.
They were wrong, of course. I wasn’t dead. But I was set up.
After being charged with a string of offences--and made an example of by my political minded father--I’m eventually released back into Shadow Grove with one thing on my mind.
Hate.
Someone is going to pay for derailing my carefully laid out future. Someone is going to catch the full force of my hate. How very convenient that someone just moved into the bedroom down the hall from me.
Archer D’Ath and his boys messed with the wrong chick and they’re about to learn just how cold Madison Kate’s hate can run.
HATE is a full length mature college/new adult romance with enemies-to-lovers/love-hate themes. This is a reverse harem novel, meaning the main character has more than one love
Thank-you to NetGalley, Bloom Books, and Tate James for the eARC.
Okay. So. This genre? Very much not my thing. I honestly don't even remember my thought process when requesting this book — I think I was just excited to get a whole series, TBH. Would I have made it more than like 10% if this wasn't a NetGalley ARC? Probably not. HOWEVER, I must admit, I am intrigued and am looking forward to seeing this series through.
That being said, I know exactly which customers to recommend this series to and they will be THRILLED. =P
I read the reviews before I dove into this book and was a little let down by how bad they were, however upon reading it, maybe I'm just a sucker for smut and have low standards because I truly did enjoy the book from beginning to end.
Some of the twists are a little predictable, but they didn't cause me to enjoy the book any less! I'm enjoying the why choose theme that's going on, and the twist at the end of the boy with blue eyes telling her to not watch the violence inside the old bar made my entire heart squeeze. I have a feeling we are about to get set up in the future books for a much deeper romance than just physical attraction, although that is pretty captivating also.
I'm also still enthralled in the situation with her friend Bree and why there seems to be some sort of secrets being kept there, I'm excited to delve into book 2 eventually and I truly think I'm going to enjoy the entire series. I'm 100% a vibe reader and this book was a vibe.
Hate is the first book in the Madison Kate series. This book is about Madison Kate, Archer, Kodiak, and Steele and is told from all of their points of view. After something happens to Madison Kate wants nothing to do with the three boys, but when they show up and are in her life more than she wants she has to learn if she wants to work with them or against them.
Feelings also start to develop between the three, but she is also wanting revenge for what happened.
I loved the start of this book, and can't wait to continue on in the series.
This book was such a disappointment. Being sent to some third world countryto live with your aunt for less than a year as punishment for the “crimes” she was charged with is just unrealistic. Then for the main character to have ALL this hate towards them because they ruined her over privileged life. Eye roll…..the storyline could have used a little work.
I went into this not thinking that a why choose contemporary would be for me, but WOW OH WOW. This book is perfect for anyone who loves romance with high stakes. It has qualities that I love in action movies/thrillers but with great romance as well. It also was so funny at times!
The spice...well.....yeah it was superb. Cannot wait to continue this series!
This was my first book by Tate James and it for sure won’t be my last. I went into this book completely blind and I am so glad that I did! What a ride this one is! If you like why choose, revenge, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, suspenseful romances go get this one now!! It was sooooo good! I was hanging onto every word and couldn’t wait to see what happened next! Also hands down the best audio I’ve ever listened to!!! It was like I was watching a movie in my mind! I wish all audios were done the way this one was! The narrators did such. Great job bringing this one to life! I’m so glad that I jumped on this series late because I get to go straight into the next book! Massive Cliffhanger!! The way it ends you will have to get the next book immediately! I know I am! Overall a fantastic read that I definitely recommend!!
I went into this one blind, and got the vibes immediately that this was going to be a dark romance with some romantic suspense vibes. Then she met the guys who live in her dads house (at first I thought they were brothers, but they aren’t), and then as you get to know each one I was like how will she choose?! Then quickly realized my naivety and was like oh this is a why choose isn’t it? Which is funny because several times in the books the main character has this meta moment saying this isn’t a romance flick and she’s not having a reverse harem. Jokes on her LOL so MK has a lot of resentment towards these three guys because she believes that they set her up to be a scapegoat for what happened on Riot Night ( the 2nd worst day of her life) and why she went to jail. The issue of course is a lot more complex than that, but she doesn’t realize until truths get revealed about her father, her mother’s death, her stalker, and a few other things. Then that ENDING has her questioning everything again.
Thank you Bloom Books for the eARC and read!
So I started this book and not long after put it down. It just didn’t catch my attention. I read a few chapters but I just could not get into it. That being said I’m not saying it’s a bad book or that someone else won’t enjoy it. It just wasn’t for me.
After being framed for being 'not there' anymore, Madison Kate is mad. Very mad, she wants everyone to know about it... very fierce and thrilling!
Thank you to Tate James, Bloom Books, and NetGalley for an eARC of Hate in return for my honest opinion.
I LOVED this book! I am a dark romance and rom-com fan and Hate was the perfect middle ground. It definitely leans more dark romance, but the amount of times I laughed out loud while reading it... let's just say I lost count.
First things first. These boys are DREAMY. Tough ex-gangsters, but they are funny AF. The names are a bit cringey and I found myself rolling my eyes at them (Max Steele, Kodiak Jones, and Arch D'Ath - pronounced Death...). Like... come on. Definitely trying a bit too hard for tough bad boys here... but as I read... I fell in love with them and their names absolutely fit their personalities.
I enjoyed MK's friendship with Bree, too. Bree is the supportive best friend we all need. You say you hate this person and your bestie doesn't know why, but hates them too. 10/10 best friend right there.
The antics are dramatic and ridiculous, but the SPICE. Woah baby. Someone turned up the heat in the kitchen.
This book had it all and I IMMEDIATELY went to Amazon and bought the rest of the series. I am absolutely here for it. I am on the last book in the series (Kate) and honestly do not want it to end. I need more from these characters!
Definitely recommend if you like dark romance, gangsters, and spice!
This is a great beginning for this amazing series. It hooked me from the start with the plot twists.
This is a five stars series for me.
this was the first reverse harem book that I read and I had a good time but will not continue the series! I really liked most of the characters and the story was interesting and very fast paced. If you like reverse harem, dark romance (not to dark) and spice this book is definitely for you and I would recommend it but not really my cup of tea.
(thank you netgalley for this arc!)
2.5 stars - The main character was pretty immature despite having a "big dog" mentality. I thought the spicy scenes were well-written, but I was pretty bored with the rest of the story unfortunately.
