3.5⭐️ rounded up.

The premise of this book was so interesting. A missing baby that no one happened to tell the nanny about? False accusations? Psychological thrillers? Sold. I ate this book up in one day. It was so fast paced, that I felt like I flew right through it.

I really like the main character for most of the book. All of the characters were well-written and well-enough developed for a thriller book. I have an immediate distrust of all characters in thriller books so it took a bit to warm up to Liam.

I did really enjoy this book, but I like it best when my thriller books leave breadcrumbs for me to pick up throughout the book so I can figure out the who and the why along with the characters. This book didn't really do that. It kind of felt like everything was thrown together toward the end to get that wow factor, and I'm still not sure if it all made sense, but I do know that I am still thinking about the book and probably will for awhile. This could have been a 5 star thriller for me if there was a little foreshadowing.

This is told from two different timelines. It was interesting to see how the main character grew up and what she went through to become the person she is today. She came off as very compassionate and understanding so I wasn't surprised to find out she was bullied as a kid.

Overall, this was a good and fast read for anyone who wants to be tricked by an ending. Can't wait to see what the author does next.

I got an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.. This thrillers was amazing. It had so many twists and turns I got whiplash but in a good way. A baby sitter is accused of kidnapping a baby she was never told existed in the upstairs nursery. The twins she was babysitting alluded to a strange family life. That’s all I can tell you because you have to read this one. I’ll hear you gasp when you get to the end! #netgalley.

If you love a psychological thriller/drama that's going to bend your mind and have you wondering what's coming next, then you must read this latest fast paced novel by Shari J Ryan. It's all about manipulation and supposition and has you wondering who is telling the truth or lying. You will be tied up in knots trying to discover where the plot will take you next. A great read

This was a wild ride, I'm impressed by this author and if you like twists, this is the perfect book for you. Haley has been offered the opportunity to be a nanny to twins. This interests Haley as she's a college student studying child psychology and she's fascinated by the idea of how twins interact. The Smith's seem to be the perfect family living in a beautiful beach side mansion. Haley is asked to come watch the twins for just the evening and chaos ensues! Loved the book. A few things were predictable but the twists were plentiful! Kept me quickly turning pages! Thank you #netgalley for giving me an opportunity to read this in return for my honest opinion! And IMO #theperfectnanny is a must-read! #arc 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was riveting, fast-paced, with twists that made it impossible for me to guess the ending. The depth of the characters made me drawn to them, and the writing had me empathetic to the struggles they were going through. While at times it felt a bit long-winded, overall it was a fantastic read and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

The Perfect Nanny by Shari J Ryan is a very fast pace book. There are so many twist and turns that by the time something happens another twist shows up. The characters in the beginning seem as if they are so good, but as the story moves along none of them can be trusted. It moves very fast. I enjoyed reading the story of Haley, but some of the things that happen seemed unbelievable.
Thank you Netgalley, and the publisher for and ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Perfect Nanny is a fast-paced psychological thriller filled with a lot of twists and surprises. Unfortunately, for me, the amount of twists, especially in the second half, took away from the overall plot. The developments in the second half were simply too unrealistic. The Perfect Nanny focuses on Haley (the narrator) and what happens after she babysits for the Smiths. Upon returning home from a gala, the Smiths are shocked to find their baby girl missing; Haley claims the Smiths never told her they had a baby, she only knew about the nine-year-old twin girls. Who is to be believed? Is there a missing child?

The book starts with a bang and the reader is immediately thrown into the action. I thoroughly enjoyed the first half and could not put the book down. However, the author tried to put too many surprises and reveals into the story. By the second half, the story was just too unrealistic for me. I'm giving it three stars because I did think it was a good premise and I really did have fun reading the first half. The end was just disappointing.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read!

This book pulled me in from the first chapter. Tons of twists and turns throughout the book. Unfortunately, there were moments that did not keep me engaged throughout. All in all, worth the read. I would recommend this thriller.

Wow! I liked the how this was written. Whatever direction you think this book is going in when you start reading don’t get too confident……..the twists are significant and you won’t see them coming. The short chapters and intriguing storyline make The Perfect Nanny an easy, one day, hard to put down read.
Thank You to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Shari J. Ryan for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley for my arc of this book!

This book had a really great premise from the start. It sucks you in with a life threatening situation right from page one. It’s fast paced for the first few chapters and then slows down a bit, and gets into the real heart of the story, and its characters.

I’ll be honest and say this book was a little hard to get through. Some of the dialogue seems off putting or out of place, childish in a way. There were so many twists that it became too outlandish, as opposed to if there had only been one or two, then they could have really stood out better.

But overall it was a quick read and I am grateful to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!

I will be sure to look out for more books by this author in the future.

Publication date: February 9th, 2024
Page count: ~306
Genre: psychological thriller
Setting: Newport, RI
POV: Haley
Features: missing child, psychology

Great first half- engaging beginning, keeps you on your toes as to who to trust… but I found as the story unraveled, it had to many unrealistic, far fetched developments.

Thank you to author, publisher, NetGalley for advanced audio copy. This is an honest voluntary review.

Just WOW! Shari Ryan knocks another one out of the park! Im definitely hooked on her work. This is a go-to author for me, I don’t need to read a blurb. She’s that good. This was uber creepy and totally captivating. I loved the characters and felt like I was a part of the story. So many twists and turns along with fabulous reveals. Don’t let this one pass you by.

Thank you to Net Galley and Bookouture for this advanced copy of The Perfect Nanny by Shari J. Ryan to be published February 9, 2024.
Haley is pleased when her ad to work as a nanny is answered by Corbin and Lara Smith. Lara tells her about her twin nine-year-old daughters, Madden and Blakely, that she will be watching for the summer.
Her first night goes well (although she does observe some bruising on the girls), but when the Smiths return, they are hysterical. They keep asking where their baby girl, Fallon, is. Haley swears they never mentioned another child when told about the job, but the Smiths keep accusing her of stealing their baby.
It becomes all too real as she is arrested and put in the back of a police car.
Why would the Smiths do this to her?
Oh. My. Gosh. This book had every twist and turn imaginable. You never knew who was telling the truth and who was lying. Who was crazy and who wasn’t. I read this book in one day – I couldn’t finish it fast enough! I would definitely recommend putting this on your TBR list – as the next book to read!

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was an explosive and impossible to put down thriller. I kept telling myself one more chapter, but then I would get so entangled in the story I had to continue on. I did not see the twist coming towards the end of the book, where we find out so many truths. Certain parts did get a bit confusing with the alternating time lines, but other than that I really enjoyed this fast paced book.

Haley has decided to spend her summer in Newport, so she starts looking for a job. She puts a classified ad out, hoping to find a summer nannying job, and is delighted when her first lead turns into a job. Lara and Corbin hire her to care for their 9 year old twins Blakely and Madden.

But after her first night on the job Lara and Corbin return home, and are shocked to find their daughter Fallon who’s only a baby, is missing. Haley is so confused because she never met Fallon and wasn’t aware she existed or that she would be watching her that night. After they call the police Haley is arrested for kidnapping the baby. Haley’s mind is racing trying to figure out how this could have all happened, until she discovers a link between her past and what is happening to her now.

What follows is a deliciously woven tale of deceit, lies, family drama, and a perfectly spun web of how we never truly leave our past in the past.

Pick this thriller up, you will not be disappointed!

Wow! The Perfect Nanny is full of twists, turns and thrills. Haley has been hired to watch the nine year old Smith twins, but at the end of the night, the parents are hysterical because their baby is missing. What baby? Nobody ever mentioned a baby to Haley, and she certainly never saw one. And here begins the wild ride through Shari J. Ryan's latest book. If you think you know what's happening, just wait! Just as soon as it seems like the reader is getting some answers, there are new developments and revelations. The shockers keep coming! The timelines for some of the legal matters seem off (as opposed to what they would be in reality), but if you are able to accept it as part of the story, then you will find The Perfect Nanny an exciting, gripping read. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the eARC.

This book did not waste any time at getting going. There was so many twists I got whiplash. I loved that they were sprinkled throughout the book making it impossible to put down. I did not see any of them coming either. It went a way I couldn’t even guess. 5 stars!

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for a copy of this eARC for an honest review.

“The Perfect Nanny”

This is the first book I’ve read by author Shari J. Ryan, and definitely won’t be the last.

A great psychological thriller, really well-built; kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the development of the story.

Haley, a psychology student, accepts a nanny job to take care of nine-year-old twins to make ends meet. When the night ends, she is accused by the hiring couple of kidnapping a baby she didn’t even know about.

The story alternates between present and past, giving the reader a broader view of whatever are the reasons moving the characters.

Which secret connects Haley to the other characters in the story? All the plot twists and turns are really breathtaking!

All I can say is wow, and not in a good way.

I found myself highly confused for a lot of this book. Things weren’t lining up, facts were wrong and nothing made sense. As we continue on tings make less sense and the “truth” or “reality” changes. Even with all of the reveals, it was messy.

I’m really tired of the crazy woman narrative. And even when it’s from left field to try to pull things together, it is always messy and not satisfying.

The story was entirely too long and drawn out, and way too complicated and intertwined.
