This kept me on my toes! Sad and tragic, yet compelling and entertaining all at the same time. My first from this author and now I want to go back to read the first book with Detective Nikki Gill at the helm.
I enjoyed the setup and the wrong-paths this went on because of the red herrings. I absorbed all the shady behaviors and that made the book even more fun and interesting. The author knew how to get crazier and crazier, yet honed in on the mystery and made this such a must-grab type of book. So glad I was given the opportunity into this world that the author created.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Book 2 in the Detective Nikki Gill series. Really struggled with this one. The storyline was really weak and not gripping at all. The main characters had no personality which didn’t help with the storyline

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* This was a great read! was a bit of a classic who done it but still a great read

I should read more crime thrillers. I don’t really like creepy / scary books - and as twisted as this book gets, it was still a good read.

This is a book that starts slow but hold on as it does get better and you are then in for a ride. With so many twists and turns you will never know what is coming next and you will keep turning the pages, trying to work it out.
A great read, well written and the characters are excellent and work well within the storyline. There is a lot going on in the pages of this book so I found sometimes I really did have to concentrate and remember what happened when but having said that it is a great book and you won't be able to put it down.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is book two in the Detective Nikki Series from M.L. Rose. I did not read the first before and didn’t feel as though it impacted having read this first. There is likely more character development of Detective Nikki, her counterparts in the police force & those who immediately surround her, however there was plenty of character development in this that it wasn’t lacking. I actually really enjoyed the intertwined story lines. Along with the past & present telling of the stories of those involved.
The twists though I didn’t fully see coming. The woman’s own father was a disappointment. All the under handed political crap he was doing to move his career forward fully put his family at risk. That combined with his direct effect on his “step-children” and how that storyline crashes in to the main overarching crime solving story. I wasn’t expecting the twists and turns. When you think you have it figured out you don’t!
This book includes:
⭐ Multiple Story lines
⭐ Past & Present Storytelling
⭐ Overlapping Stories
⭐ Political gains & losses
⭐ Secret Socities of Oxford
⭐ The impact of addiction on children
⭐A murder that has multiple suspects including the woman’s father
overall I know this won’t be the only one I read! I plan to go back and read Book one now!
Thank you to @netgalley & @stormpublishing for the eARC of this for my honest review!

Silent Girl by M.L. Rose is the second book in the brilliant Detective Nikki Gill series and I was hooked again. It's full of twists and turns throughout, that will have you gripped from the very beginning till the very end. It was a very cleverly written book throughout.
I highly recommend this new series once you start to read it, it will be hard to put down.
Big Thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing and the author M.L. Rose for my ARC. I loved it!

This is the second book featuring Detective Nikki Gill. I enjoyed the first book and this one did not disappoint. A body of a young woman is found in the woods but Nikki soon realises that she has not been killed there as she was wearing high heels that had no trace of mud. Nikki discovers that the young woman was Charlotte Winspear. She was a student at the College and her father is a wealthy businessman and an aspiring politician with views that Charlotte does not agree with. Charlotte was a wild party girl and when her boyfriend disappears he becomes the main suspect. Nikki and her team soon realise that Charlotte had a lot of hidden secrets and was having an affair with a married college tutor. The book is told in dual timelines and is full of suspense, red herrings and twists and turns. A recommended read and I look forward to the next book in the series.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book,

Second in the series and just as the first did it grips your attention from the off
Investigating the murder of a college student Dt Nikki uncovers many secrets about the victim that could have led to her death
Good plotline, great read and very highly recommended

When beautiful Charlotte Winspear's body is discovered her body has been displayed to look like an angel. Detective Nikki Gill and her team set out to uncover who she is and why she's dead. They soon find out she attended a college party in a mansion and somehow ended dead. The suspect list seems to be a collection of students, teachers and even her own father.
This book is filled with suspects and suspense. The pages fly by and each leaves you wanting to read more. I enjoyed the story and the team of detectives that worked the case worked well together to bring you to a satisfying ending . Thanks Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the arc of this fast paced murder mystery. Will be reading more from this author soon.

✨My Thoughts✨
I really enjoyed the first book in this series when I read it last year, Nikki is such an engaging main character.
The case was a tense one with not much to go on at the beginning but it soon turned into a very tangled web, that Nikki and her team painstakingly untangled.
I love how you get to see Nikki’s home life and everything she still struggles with and more about her tragic past, her team are still not 100% gelled together yet and I enjoyed the internal politics and conflicts.
The plot was interesting and the whole book read like a well established series that it should rightfully be.

Silent Girl by ML Rose is a detective crime book based around the finding of a young womans body in a field. This was a typical crime type novel with many suspects slowly being whittled down.
I did enjoy this book but there was nothing in particular that stood out to me as different to other novels of the same genre.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me an eARC of this book for my honest review.
This is my first time reading anything by this author. I did not read book 1. I hadn't realized at the time that Silent Girl was book 2 in the series. I think if I read the first book my opinion may be different. Though I feel this genre is not for me. I enjoy Thriller/Mystery, but Silent Girl felt more like a Murder Mystery.
I found it to be boring. I was losing interest. I read the first 30 chapters and then started to skim read to the end. I really wanted to finish it. This one was just not for me.
I gave it a 2.5 stars but rounded it up to a 3. It was just okay for me.

Silent Girl is the second novel in the Nikki Gill no series.
The plot is centred around the universities of Oxford and is told over dual timelines
The chapters are short and the drama held a steady pace throughout .
A suspenseful police procedural with a strong female lead character

Second in the Nikki Gill series, this is pretty solid, enjoyable police procedural.
Nikki and her team are called in to investigate the murder of a young woman. When her identity is revealed as a socialist and campaigner, who is the daughter of a prominent conservative MP. Could her father have been responsible for her death?
The story is told I’m two viewpoints, from the current day investigation and flashbacks into the murderer’s history. There are also a number of red herrings before the murderer is revealed.
There is a good balance between the investigation and the private lives of Nikki and her team. It would be nice if in future books we could know a little more about the team.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for my review

This book surprised me between what is was about and the cover. I can say I was pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed the book and will get the rest of the series! I would recommend this book/series.

A gripping thriller with plenty of twists to make your head spin. Good characters and well plotted. This second outing for Detective Nikki Gill and is better than the first looking forward to more from this author. Thanks to Storm publishing and Netgalley for a review copy.

Charlotte Winspear was the daughter of a rich Conservative aiming to become an MP. She did not agree with her father's politics & it was probably a good thing when she went to live at her Oxford college. When she is found at the top of a hill in high heels without a speck of mud DI Nikki Gill knows that this is not the scene of the crime. On investigation it seems she was at an exclusive Oxford Drinking Society party at a very large house. Details as to her movements seem to be sketchy & trying to uncover anything at Oxford University is never straightforward!
This is the second in the series. I really enjoyed the first one. I was really fascinated with the insight into the Colleges system in Oxford. The story was twisty with lots of dead ends. I'm not great at guessing whodunnit & this was no exception! I like Nikki & her team & look forward to meeting them again. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

Second story in the Nikki Gill series but can be read as a standalone. Oxford student, Socialist and at severe odds with very Conservative father, party girl and dead. Well written story - the Oxford college scene worrying about publicity, behind the scenes parties of drinking, druggery and debauchery, the potential political ramifications for the father, not to mention rather a variety of 'boyfriends'. Alongside this we have snippets from another person, the murderer and the similarities of their earlier life with that of Nikki. Plenty of red herrings and serious sleuthing trying to get through the lies and evasions and pomposity. Good read, quite quick. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy.

Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for my copy of Silent Girl by M L Rose
This is the second book in the Detective Nikki Gill series. Charlotte Winspear If found dead in Oxford after a night out.
Known as a wild child who would try anything, she was at odds with her father a Tory candidate hopeful.
Nikki Gill is the investigating officer and we learn more about her and the team in this book.
I think this is turning into a good series.
