Earl Crazy is a delightful read.
This author’s romances always leave me loving the characters, and wanting to see them again. For this book, the female protagonist Tilly is one of these.
Tilly is a powerful character that accidentally compromises herself when she chases a dog into a neighbor’s yard. Kit, the new Earl of Prestwick, is worried about the curse his family has that left all the previous Earl’s in early graves; and he has determined he needs to settle down and get married so his own life will be spared.
These two story lines clash as the romance plays out. Although Kit is a likable hero, the character that makes this book, is Tilly. She is written with spunk, intelligence, and a little touch of humor.
I recommend this book for those who enjoy this author, as well as those who may be new to her. Romance fans will find all the necessary ingredients for a good story, and also the things that makes us all love to read about love.
The whole premise was rather silly. The earl believes he’s going to die early because of a family curse. The heroine doesn’t want to marry for…reasons. She worries that she will cause a scandal since her sisters did. I haven’t read the earlier books, but it seems the scandals involved their marrying noblemen that other women wished to marry themselves.
The romantic complications aren’t that complicated and all get resolved rather easily.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
She has no plans to marry and he has to marry because of a family curse, for the most part. But their disastrous first meeting was the amusing start that sent them on a path to their HEA while breaking the curse simultaneously. Very lovely read, specially with amusing, supporting characters. Can’t wait for Phee’s HEA next.
I received an ARC from Netgalley and leaving my review voluntarily.
An engaging and fun romance to read. I enjoyed the characters, thought kit and Tilly well suited with great chemistry and banter. A charming scoundrel and a daring lady unexpectedly find their true happiness with each other.
This is the fourth book in the Games Earls Play series and while I haven’t yet read the other 3 books I follow this story perfectly, but since the book was so good, I will be reading the previous books soon since there’ll be one more to come.
There’s a terrific chemistry between the main characters Mathilda and Kit through the book. It was a good historical romance very quick to read but so nice that left me wanting for a bit more.
The story is vibrant, and we can fell the characters emotions while we follow their motivations and see them falling in love without realizing it. It’s such an engaging story with relatable characters. I highly recommend it to those who enjoy historical romances.
Thank you, NetGalley & the publisher, for approving me to read this arc and write this review.
Christopher is an earl who is trying to ignore the deadly curse on his family and find a woman to marry. Tilly is in town to help her friend Harriet find a husband while avoiding scandal herself. When Tilly helps Christopher, the rake next door, she hopes no one finds out. Christopher enlists Tilly to find him a wife while at the same time tries to deny their mutual attraction. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Oliver Heber Books for my honest review.
Earl Crazy by Anna Bradley is book four in the Games Earls Play series. I'm all caught up on this series but if you haven't checked out books 1-3 yet you should...that said, I don't think you miss anything if you want to dive in with this book.
Our fmc for this installment is Mathilda (Tilly) Templeton. As one of the five Templeton sisters, she has a knack for causing scandal but she is in London only to protect her good friend Harriet from all the men only interested in her dowry and not for her own interests. Unfortunately for Tilly, she seems to find herself in some fairly questionable situations...beginning with her introduction to the Earl of Prestwick.
Christopher Egan is the heir to the notorious Prestwick Earldom and one of London’s most scandalous rakes. When he inherits after his uncle's untimely demise, he decides he needs to cheat the curse that everyone believes plagues his family line and change his ways. His plan includes going to London and marrying the lady he's been promised to - Harriett. As you can guess, things don't really go as he planned.
I loved how these two characters meet and ultimately how their relationship builds. They are both determined to stay their course until they realize that's not really what they want and then things get interesting. Outside of the relationship of the main characters, the story focuses on the Prestwick curse as well as the Templeton sisters and their reputations. I loved that we still get glimpses of the characters (not a ton...just slight mentions) in the prior books and I really can't wait for the next book! There's also the storyline focuses on Harriett with a bit of an unexpected twist (at least for me).
If you're looking for a good historical romance to pick up, I definitely recommend this book (and the series as a whole). They are quick reads that will keep you entertained and turning the pages.
Cute and dare I say, sweet. The banter is so delicious. I was smiling over half of the book at the banter alone. Tilly and Kit are one of the cutest couples. Bless his heart, all of these heroes who believe they are cursed. I found this to be a fun and flirty read.
Okay, so my question now is who will Phee be paired with? The oldest sister should get the rakiest (okay, made that word up) of rakes. And what about Darby, will he get a story? I loved him.
I was extremely fortunate to receive an ARC of Earl Crazy by the fantabulous Anna Bradley. All thoughts and opinions are my own. The Earl of Prestwick, Christopher Egan, is one of the cursed Prestwicks whose men seem to die in a duel before they are even wed. Mathilda Templeton is in London to support her best friend, who she learns has been promised to said dissolute rakish Earl. By happenstance, she finds the Earl unconscious and assists him in regaining his senses. He has actually passed out in a drunken stupor and assumes her to be a doxy and soundly kisses her. The characters are beautifully developed, the scenes are vibrantly described, the emotions are palpable. I absolutely love the determination of the characters to stay true to their motives without realizing how they are falling in love. A beautiful story!
I am enamored by Anna Bradley's stories. The Games Earls Play series is one of my favorites. And Tilly and Kit are just adorable! I couldn't put the book down, but I didn't want to finish it either. Those are the best kinds of books.
Kit, the Earl of Prestwick, reluctantly forsakes bachelorhood to seek a wife and fulfill a longstanding duty. In London, trouble-prone Tilly strives to protect her shy, wealthy friend from men with Kit’s reputation as a rake. As they engage in a battle of wills, Kit and Tilly form an unexpected bond that leaves her questioning whether she’s fallen for London’s most alluring scoundrel.
This novel drew me in immediately with its fun and engaging characters. Both Kit and Tilly are likeable and relatable. The plot is fast-moving with some surprise twists.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I enjoyed the storyline and the easy flow with just the right amount of drama and loads of heat level that will keep you entertained. A definite must read!
Vibes: rake/virgin, romcom shenanigans, CURSES, and quite a solid handy j, I must say
Heat Level: 2/5.
As the newly-minted Early of Prestwick, Kit is determined to avoid the curse that felled the previous earls by abandoning his rakish ways and marrying Harriett, the girl he's long been promised to. Enter: Tilly, Harriett's protective friend who's determined to keep the scandalous Kit at bay. Except (as you can probably guess) Kit and Tilly kiss... and she didn't hate it.
The plot here is really nothing unusual (and it doesn't have to be). I requested it because I like Anna Bradley. And it was a pleasant, funny read, with one really hot scene. But it's also pretty short (under 200 pages) and I can't help but feel that it would have benefited from some more time. A very cute romcom, but a little too bite-sized.
Quick Takes:
--I have to say: this couple has an amazing meet cute. Kit really is trying to shake his taste for excess... Only to immediately wake up hungover, with no memory of what happened, and an ex-mistress at his side. I won't give away what happens next, but it is one of the more memorable meet cutes I've read in recent history, and it underlines a fun, snappy chemistry that Kit and Tilly maintain throughout the story.
That chemistry? Is what makes the book worth reading. Again, the plot didn't blow me away. Not a ton happens, and what does is fairly predictable (the ending really could've done more). But their back and forth is really entertaining and incredibly flirty. I totally bought Kit as a rake.
--This isn't the first historical I've read based on a curse, but it is one of the more nebulous. I'm still not sure I get exactly what Kit needed to do to avoid the curse, and I wasn't sure he did either...? To me, if you're going to include a curse in your romance novel, go for it! But it's a better idea to define it earlier.
The Sex:
This one is... surprisingly light on sex, compared to the last book of Anna's I read. There's really only one scene. And it is a good scene! But I definitely felt like we needed more.
That said. There is a really good handjob in this book. I'm not usually that impressed by handy scenes, I don't really think the heroes beg enough in a lot of them--but this dude was struggling. And I appreciated that. It was a cute "oh, this little virgin has him desperately holding on for dear life" moment, which I personally am a sucker for.
While it could've done more with this concept, Earl Crazy is a cute, breezy read that will please fans of light historicals when they want something quick.
Thanks to Netgalley and Oliver Heber Books for providing me with a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Earl Crazy is a cute story about friendship - foes- to love. Reminds me a bit of Lisa Klepas Hathaway's and Julia Quin's Second book of the Bridgerton. But the overall story has so much fun twist and turn. A beautiful love story that develops between them.
10/10
A cute novella with 2 amazing characters Kit and Tilly.
Tilly is trying to protect her friend Harriett from her betrothal to Kit, Earl of Prestwick white family has a curse.
They are neighbors and over a series of events Kit falls in love with Tilly, and works to convince her that they are made for each other.
Another engaging tale of the Templeton sisters and their effect on London and Earls.
Tilly comes to London for a season of her own and to protect her shy innocent friend Harriet.
The Earl Kit is betrothed to Harriet but then encounters Tilly.
Kit has to come to terms with his attraction to Tilly, his obligations, and the family curse.
Lots of fun banter and circumstances that lead to a HEA.
Hard to wait for the next sister’s story, wanting Phee to find her own Earl.
This is the fourth book in a series about the 5 Templeton sisters and their uncanny ability to marry Earls. I thoroughly enjoyed the first two, somehow missed the third one and jumped straight into this one.
In this book Matilda, Tilly, the youngest Templeton sister meets Kit, the Earl of Prestwick while rescuing a recalcitrant dog.
Kit is a rake who is trying to reform himself and break a family curse, but once he meets Tilly, his plans go awry.
This is a sweetly funny book with lovely characters. The romance is sizzling and, although it's a quick read, it's still engaging.
I'm looking forward to Euphemia's book.
I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and Oliver Heber Books. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Kit inherits the earldom after his infamous uncle's demise. He plans to marry Harriet, the lady he's long been promised to. Mathilda is Harriet friend and she's eager to protect Harriet. But a stolen kiss changes everything between them...
Love the enemies to lovers trope. Mathilda and Kit are terrific together. Their chemistry is terrific. The dialogue sizzles.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
