A one-night stand, mistaken identity, forced proximity, boy fall first, and rockstar romance trope.
I loved this book; Clemmie and her family are truly amazing and make you wish you had a family like that.
I was hooked from the first chapter. Clemmie and her sisters are funny and remind me of how my sister and I are. I love that therapy is talked about openly through out the book and isnt looked down upon. The work you see Clemmie put in and how she gets to her happily ever after is great.
I love Clemmie with Theo aka teddy bear, I need to read more by Laura Wood.
Thank you, Atria and Net Galley for this eARC for an honest review

I love a good rom com. I usually read them between other heavier books I may also be in the middle of reading. This one I finished in a few days. @lauracwood 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💐💐. Thank you to @netgalley and @atriabooks for the ARC of this one. It’s available for preorder now. Loving the UK cover btw 🥰. Ok so many of us probably have read our share of rock star romances oh but this one. Think the sisters of charmed, Steven Tyler and Adam Levine all wrapped into one. Those are exactly the people I saw as I read this story.

💓the writing was flawless and the story flowed very well. The plot had many sub plots that worked so well together.
🎸Theo was no ordinary rockstar. He was a softy, charming and he likes vampire smut. I mean enough said!
⌨️Dr.clemmie Monroe is the bomb. She is damaged and fragile in the beginning. But oh man by the end she is fierce and standing in her own light 🙌.
🪄the sisters and their moms. Their entire relationship from birth to adult hood was one dreams are made of. The magic between these women and how they wove such a tight knit family was one heck of a story.
☀️the small on the water town give you Martha’s vineyards vibes but way more affordable. It made me want to vacation there.
❤️🩹my only thing was I wanted more from the epilogue. Sigh.

Thank you so much to Laura Wood and Atria Books for this eARC. I absolutely loved this Rock Star, slow burn romance. Wood tells Clemmie and Theo's so well. On a spice scale id say about a 2/5. But this book is a 5 star read and one I recommend to anyone who loves a good Rock star romance. To be honest I really want to hear more from this world. I can't wait to see what Laura brings us next!
It has been a while since I read a romance that I could not put down, so I am happy to report that this book hooked me from the first chapter. Clemmie and her sisters really stole the show for me, and the sweet romance that developed between Clemmie and Theo was the icing on the cake 🍰
This book has:
-The one-night stand and rockstar romance tropes 👩❤️👨
-Mistaken identity 🔎
-Forced proximity
-Boy fall first!!
Thank you to Atria Books and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book so much! What a delight.
It’s the story of Clemmie, daughter of a famous musician who has some scars from the music industry yet takes on a job to “babysit” Theo, one of the hottest musicians of the time.
I am always drawn to any book, especially a romance, with a music/musician tie, so this one was instantly intriguing (also, how gorgeous is that cover?). But it’s so much more than that! I was laughing by the second page. It is funny, sweet, and unexpected. It’s got a little bit of a grumpy trope but it also is about the friendship between Clemmie and her sisters and the power of sisters. I love the unusual family, the twists, and Theo’s manager David’s relentless demands. I think it’s cool how it normalizes therapy, too.
Initially I was kind of hoping for Theo’s POV as we only get Clemmie’s throughout the story. However, the author uses dialogue instead to share his view, and I realized it makes sense as a technique to help build some of the tension.
I really hope we get a sequel! If you love sweet, funny, entertaining romances, go pre-order this book now!
I’m grateful for the opportunity to read it now via a ARC from Laura, the publisher, and NetGalley. All opinions add my own.
4.5, rounded up. This book is attempting a British Emily Henry vibe, and largely succeeds. I am a total sucker for British romances, it turns out, and even though there are some obvious issues if you think about the book too long, and it’s probably 50 pages too long, it was utterly charming and had some hilarious scenes.
I received an advance copy of an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Brief Summary: Clementine just got dumped by her ex and fired from her dream job so she’s having a horrible day. When her sisters get her drunk and suggest reviving a childhood ritual called the Breakup Spell where each sister grants a wish.
I swear this book has Fleetwood Mac and Practical Magic vibes.
Tropes & What to Expect
💫 One Night Stand
💫 He falls first
💫 Forced proximity
💫 Celebrity romance
💫 Friends to Lovers
💫 Single POV
💫 English countryside setting
💫 MMC is a rockstar, FMC is a daughter of rockstar legend
💫 the sweetest sister trio you can imagine
💫 HEA
Clementine is the daughter of a rockstar but prefers to live a life not under the eye of paparazzi. She DOES NOT like dating rockstars mostly due to her father and past relationship. When she meets Theo she is not aware of his stardom and he has no idea who her father is. They have a one night stand and Clementine leaves thinking she will never see her again. When her sister offers her a job of having a rockstar stay with her she did not expect to see Theo. At first she wants to be professional and forget the night ever happened. After spending more time together and developing a friendship she starts to realize she’s in deep. Theo is such a cinnamon roll and not your typical rockstar. He’s kind, sweet, caring and funny. I loved how he cared for Clemmie and listened to her feelings.
There is COMMUNICATION 👏🏼 like they act adults and discuss their problems.
Spice rating
1/5 🌶️
There are scenes but they aren’t overly descriptive and pretty fade to black.
Would I recommend? Yes this was a great, sweet read. If you’re in a book slump or heading towards one I wouldn’t pick this up because it’s mostly sweet and the plot is the character growth and relationship.
I loved this one!! What a fun story! Couldn’t put it down! Loved the sisters and just such a fun read! Thanks so much.
This was such a fun romance! I loved the characters and how complicated their backstories were. It features the best sisters that I could possibly imagine and it made me long for a relationship like that. Serena and Lil were such a bright spot of the book for me. The vibes of this book just hit. The banter between Clementine and Theo was fun and light. The spice level was perfect. I also adored the sickness scenes and the forced proximity. Clementine had such a glow up. She became so confident and assured in herself. I also adored her conversations with her therapist. I loved Theo and his commitment to Clemmie. The idea of a rock star being so head over heels for someone was such a great story. I didn’t like the ending with Ripp. It felt too easy and not natural when compared to Clemmie’s feeling throughout the book about Ripp. Overall, a solid 4.5 stars for me!
This heartwarming romance put a spell on me and I couldn’t put it down.
Clem (Clementine, but don’t call her that) is having the worst day ever. Her boyfriend left her and she lost her job. What else is there to do but commiserate with her sisters who convince her to cook up a spell, three wishes and a curse. With the curse going straight to the ex-boyfriend, she wishes to find a job doing what she loves, hot sex, and unconditional love.
I adore these three witchy sisters, the daughters of an aging rock star, all with their own brand of daddy issues. But while her sisters Serena and Lil find their own place as professionals in the music industry, Clem does all she can to avoid it. Until she meets Teddy, who she calls Edward, and sparks fly. When she finds out the hot guy Edward she met at a funeral is actually Theo Elliot, world famous rock star, and her job for the next six weeks is to babysit him for her music exec sister Serena. What could possibly go wrong? So much goes wrong and right and it is absolutely fantastic.
This book is full of rich characters who you can’t help falling in love with, special shout out to Theo’s personal assistant David who didn’t have to be there to make a huge impact on the story.
Fun and sexy in all the right places, this rock star romance played all the right notes.
Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was a good romance book but I don't think it sticks out among the plentiful options for romance. It was well written but it didn't wow me.
This is one of the best rom coms I’ve read in a long time, and it will definitely make the top 2024 list. My heart was bursting with happiness the entire time and I’m not sure if a smile ever left my face… well maybe just during the 3rd act break up.
I loved this story. It is a fun Romcom. I loved the banter and build up between Clemmie and Theo. I also loved Clemmie's sisters and their relationship.
Thank you NetGalley, Atria and Laura Wood for this ARC. I loved this book!! If you are looking for a great Rom Com, this is the book for you! I loved the sister dynamic and the chemistry between Clemmie and Theo was off the charts. It was my first book from this author and it will not be my last!
“Under Your Spell” by Laura Wood is a captivating and delightful novel that weaves a tale of romance and self-discovery with a touch of enchantment. Wood’s writing is enchanting, and her characters are endearing, making it an engaging read from start to finish. The plot unfolds with a perfect blend of humor, heart, and a sprinkle of magic, creating a world that feels both familiar and whimsical.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the novel and found it to be a delightful escape, I settled on a four-star rating due to some pacing issues in the narrative. At times, the story felt a bit rushed, and I wished for more in-depth exploration of certain plot elements. However, despite these minor concerns, “Under Your Spell” is a charming read that will appeal to those who appreciate a sweet and magical romance. Laura Wood’s ability to infuse her storytelling with warmth and charm is commendable, earning this book a solid four stars in my bookshelf.
I really liked this book for the most part! Was it cute? Yes. Did I love their banter? Heck yes. But it was a bit cheesy for my tastes.
This was an unexpected fun ride to read! I was hopeful from the synopsis that this book would a fun lighthearted read and it was that and more! We watch the adult child of a rock star as she navigates the role of being an assistant to a rockstar that she had a one-night stand with. The banter between these two characters was beautifully done. In addition to the romance of the novel we got to see the relationship with the female lead with her 2 sisters (half-sisters born within the same time span to different mothers).
4.5 / 5 stars
Under Your Spell was a super fun story that included both the past of the main character, who is the child of a famously promiscuous rock star who also had babies with two other women around the same time, and her current life, in which she is acting as an assistant to a moody rockstar who she's already shared a one-night stand with. I loved the music industry focus of this book, especially the behind-the-scenes aspects of writing an album.
What a fun and delightful romance! The banter and chemistry between Theo and Clemmie was perfect. I loved the forced proximity they encountered and watching their relationship unfold was so sweet and magical. Also, I LOVED the sister’s dynamic and relationship with each other.
Overall, this book was refreshing and fun to read (was able to read it one day because I had to know what would happen next)!
Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review!
4.5 stars
Laura Wood is the queen of banter and swoons love interests in YA historical fiction and I was a tad concerned her superpowers weren’t going to translate over into a contemporary romcom, but I was so wrong and I’m so excited by that.
This book was so fun! I caught myself laughing out loud and even kicking my feet because Clemmie and Theo were so cute. I also really loved the bond between these sisters. As a girl with only brothers I’m always envious of these close sister connections, there’s something so special about this kind of female relationship.
Ok, so I’ve waxed about how much I loved this book, but why isn’t it a 5 stars? I think for my personal taste there were a touch too many steamy scenes for me to skip over and I’m used to most British rom-coms to be closed door and this was a bit more…open(?) than I was expecting.
