I do love reading celebrity/rockstar romance books especially when the MMC is as sweet as Theo in Under Your Spell by Laura Wood(out now)!❣️✨ This was soo cute and I ended up loving pretty much everything about this one - from the characters to the romance and the banter!
Clementine Monroe hasn't been having an easy time - she's just been dumped by her ex who took away all their furniture(and the cat 😾) and she's about to lose her job too. So, when her sisters bring up their old Breakup Spell+a fun childhood ritual that they'd invented)- she doesn't mind doing it and they end up wishing for three things while cursing her ex 🤣
After a funeral and an exhilarating one night stand, Clemmie's sister offers her a job where she'll have to babysit a rockstar as he works on his album and that's none other than Theo Elliott - her one night stand 😂 Clemmie's track record with rockstars hasn't been good - her dad was one and so was her teenage ex, so she's hesitant to spend time with Theo at first. But as they grow closer over time Clemmie begins to wonder whether some of her wishes might be coming true after all.
This was my first Laura Wood book and I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I loved Clemmie and her sisters - Serena and Lil. The sisterhood between them was amazing and made me envious at times! And the romance with Theo was so sweet and swoonworthy - as he was the opposite of the usual cocky/arrogant rockstars. He's just a cute music nerd😆 And he was so honest and he knew what he wanted. Some of my favorite parts were the caretaking scenes and the time they spent together. Though the spell was mentioned there wasn't anything supernatural here, I'd think of it as manifestation maybe?😂
If you're looking for a really cute romance with some lovable characters and fun banter - you should definitely give this one a try!❣️✨

I thought this would be a cute, fun, sweet romance. The cover is adorable and the synopsis promises humor and some mild shenanigans.
I didn't think I'd ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS BOOK!
It's magical. It made me laugh out loud, it made me cry, and it made me question the motivation behind some of my life choices (ouch). It left me feeling hopeful and love-drunk, like I'd just spent a long day with my fiancé and our closest friends.
I haven't seen single-PoV work this well in a romance in a LONG time. Clemmie is the perfect narrator for her story; we don't need extra insight. We can see what she can't (or refuses to see) for ages. Watching her work through her trauma, questioning her assumptions, it's beautiful. I was fully cheering her on the whole time. I want to be friends with her and Serena and Lil.
Oh Theo, Theo, Theo. Can I have him?
Seriously, this is one of the best books I've read this year!
This book made me swoon. Reading the description I knew i would like it. It did not disappoint. I connected with the characters and loved every second of it. I may even read it again.
What a delightful romcom! I’ve realized that I enjoy books set in the world of music - probably because I love music as much as I love books!
This one features Clemmie, the daughter of a rock god (think Jagger) and half sister to two other girls who were born within months of her.
So yeah, her dad is charming but maybe a bit of a cad.
It stands to reason that Clemmie is a bit gun shy when it comes to musicians with that guy for a dad.
Imagine her surprise - after a recent break up, loss of her job, and being forced to move back in with her mom - that the ONE TIME she decides to throw caution to the wind and hook up with a terribly handsome man…he’s a musician.
Theo Eliott has now entered to chat.
Theo is the dazzling superstar that Clemmie doesn’t recognize because she avoids music in general these days.
After one night of passion, Theo can’t get Clemmie out of his mind. She’s not faring much better.
When one of her sisters poses an idea: hole up with Theo in the country for 6 weeks of forced productivity as a sort of housemate/babysitter/personal assistant so that he can work toward a new album, Clemmie grudgingly agrees. She needs the work.
How bad can it be?
Turns out, pretty bad…if you think smoldering stares and soulmates are pretty bad.
Once under the same roof the two can’t deny the attraction and things progress. But when Theo’s fame threatens Clemmie’s privacy, will she flee or fall?
Ugh. Theo. Guys, he’s the one. He’s the new book boyfriend. He’s madly in love, honest, funny, and protective without being creepy. Not to mention he can sing. I’m done for.
Also? Really love the sister relationship and strong girl power vibes of this one.
If you like Julie Soto, I think you’ll like this - similar style but less spice.

Clementine Monroe is the daughter of a rock star and she hates music. Yet she ends up working for Theo Elliott, the hottest singer on the planet, and is shocked when sparks start to fly—because she vowed to never date a musician again.
I went into this book with no expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this feel good romance.
Theo Elliott isn’t just a hot rock star, he’s patient, protective, takes care of you when you’re sick, and writes songs about you too! He is raising the book boyfriend bar so high. I loved his banter with Clemmie. These two made me laugh out loud. They also warmed my heart.
I loved the side characters just as much as Clemmie and Theo! Clemmie’s sisters are ride or die, their moms are so sweet and caring, and Theo’s family is just wonderful. I hope this book is the first of the series because I want to read each sister’s stories.
This book is so much more than a romance. It’s about personal growth, family, and forgiveness too. But the romance is always front and center.
I can’t wait to see what Laura Wood writes next!
Speechless. This is one of the best rom coms I’ve read in a long time, and it will definitely make the top 2024 list. My heart was bursting with happiness the entire time and I’m not sure if a smile ever left my face… well maybe just during the 3rd act break up
For the six-books-a-week, just-one-more-page, trope-loving, library-card-owning, smutty-audio-book-in-public-listening, HEA-chasing dreamers. This is a love letter.
That’s the dedication of the book. If it had you grinning and ready to dive in then this book is for you! I adored it! ❤️
The daughter of an aging rock star finds herself working for the hottest musician on the planet and is shocked when sparks start to fly—especially since she swore she’d never, ever date a celebrity. Dumped by her cheating ex, and fired from her dream job, Clemmie is not having a good day. So when her sisters get her drunk and suggest reviving a childhood ritual called the Breakup Spell, she doesn’t see the harm in it. But now Clemmie has accidentally ruined a funeral, had her first one-night stand, and she’s stuck with a new job she definitely doesn’t want—spending six weeks alone with the gorgeous and very-off-limits rock star, Theo Eliott. He’s the most famous man on the planet. Her life’s a disaster. As their summer together turns into its own kind of magic, is Clemmie cursed to repeat the mistakes of her past—or will her future see all her wishes come true?
I loved this story - it has family drama, music and is the perfect summer rom-com. This has to be one of the best rom-coms I've read in a really long time.
Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
You have to read this book if you love an absolutely beautiful story that will wind its way around your heart. There are three sisters-all daughters of a rock star and born only months apart. There is a very handsome and talented musician so in love with one sister. Plus, there is the sisters’ spell that reaches into each of the sisters’ lives. A truly witty and very enjoyable book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I read this book a while ago and Im still thinking about it! A romcom book that actually delivers comedy. It was a fun read with depth and authentic growth. The chemistry between Clemmie and Theo was perfection!
Obsessed with this romance!!!!! This was the best surprise, and I loved every page. The relationship was real (but did involve my favorite trope), the family relationships were wonderful and warm and unforgettable. I LOvED this and can’t wait to hand sell it!!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria for the eARC.
Contemporary romance at its best. This book is just a total yes for me. I loved it and I can't wait to read more by Laura Wood. With characters and relationships like this, I am eager to see what else she writes!
This is my first book by Laura Wood and I am OBSESSED. Under Your Spell is fantastic! It's so well written with a cast of characters that are all developed and unique enough that I would happily read more books with them as the MCs. It's a love story about multiple types of love, not just romantic love, which kept my interest even more than if it was solely about Clemmie and Theo's relationship. I love the background of these three sisters who share a rock star father but have different moms that became besties and moved in together when they learned they were all pregnant by the same man and then raised the three girls together on a farm. There are so many humorous moments, but just as many heartwarming and heartwrenching ones as we see feelings grow between Clemmie and Theo and learn more about Clemmie's past experiences with her father and exes. I highlighted literal paragraphs of banter and just hilarious moments, especially conversations between Clemmie and her sisters. I love their dynamic and the element of *witchcraft* in the story. I also love that we get to see some of the romance for each sister and how involved they are in each others' lives. If you loved Charmed like I did then this book will make you want to rewatch -- even though it's not that witchy/magical, the sister dynamics and romance are definitely reminiscent of the Halliwell sisters. It's super cute, funny, and I highly recommend to everyone!
*secret identity (for a min)
*forced proximity
*celebrity romance
*family dynamics
*some witchy vibes
*music
*great banter!
If you're looking for a great, quick, romantic read this summer check this one out!!

✨Under your Spell.
✨This book was more than I expected, I loved the development of the characters, the story was funny, witted and lovely. I ATE this book, it was so fast paced and just loved it as a whole, sometimes with romcoms I feel like there are unnecessary parts or that it goes for a little too long… Well this is the exception, just 5/5.
✨Clementine is the daughter of a rock star and doesn’t really have a good relationship with him so she is biased against celebrities. She also is having a rough moment when she is dumped by her cheating ex, fired from her job and soon to be homeless. So when she and her two sisters bring back their witch ritual from childhood its all drinks and giggles until it appears as if the magic is spilling in real life.
✨She is presented with a no brainer of a work opportunity “babysitting” a famous musician but will it be easy? Six weeks alone with the breathtaking Theo Eliott, with whom Clemmie has an undeniable attraction. Could there be something between the two of them?
✨This book will give you the feels, ALL of them. A special mention goes to the sister relationship that is a real, heartwarming soulmate bond.
✨I need more Laura Wood romcoms in my life.
⭐ 5 stars
✨ Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for this arc in exchange for an honest review!
This was a lovely contemporary romance story. I wasn't sure what to expect going in - but once I started the book, I was quickly hooked into the storyline and the characters.
Read this story if you enjoy:
> Professional Musician/Rock Star MMC
> Forced proximity
> One night stand to friends to lovers
> Strong sister bonds
There are a lot of things that I really enjoyed about this book and storyline, even more than the romance plot line. After the one night stand, the romance angle almost felt secondary for a good portion of the book before picking up again in the last quarter of the storyline. So definitely a slow burn for most of the book. I loved the FMC's sister group. The three of them together were so supportive of each other and had the best banter and interactions. The premise of the plot line was interesting and felt like it fit the characters.
The witchy/spell casting aspect of the sisters relationship felt a little gratuitous - I could have kept it or left it out of the story for the most part. It was woven into the storyline, but also didn't feel necessary. The chemistry between the MCs felt like it had a bit of a start and stop aspect to it - the beginning of the story was zero to 100 and then it felt like their chemistry really fell off until after her birthday party in a way that was hard to believe at times.
There was good depth to the characters and the supporting storyline elements/characters were well rounded and all made sense in the context of the story, with something to add to move the plot along. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and was completely invested in the HEA for the two MCs.
"Sometimes you have to take a risk, follow a fork in the road you didn’t see coming, to end up where you belong.”
I loved everything about this adorable romcom. Theo and Clemmie are so perfect and sweet together. After a one night stand mixed with hidden identity, the romance in this story becomes the perfect slow burn with tons of pining, sizzling tension and undeniable chemistry.
The supporting characters in this story were amazing. I loved the bond that the sisters share and the unconditional love and support they have for each other. One of the side characters also had a bit of a redemption arc that was so sweet and I loved how perfectly it fit into the end of the story.
This book filled with laugh out loud moments, grief, healing, and steamy romance was such a fun and unputdownable read!

Thank you to Laura Wood and NetGalley for my eARC copy of Under Your Spell. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Under Your Spell by Laura Wood is two parts rom-com and one part drama. The main character, Clementine, is the daughter of a famous musician who had chosen his career over his kids. The plus of this for Clementine is that she got some quirky sisters and mother figures out of it! Each sister has their own personality, and the characters are fun and entertaining. After a bad experience dating a musician, Clementine swears she'll never date another. Yet fate has another plan for her. Theo is a musician and is sweet, funny, and smart. He realizes how special she is and starts to fall hard for her, but can he change her mind?
Thank you, NetGalley and Atria Books for an advanced copy of Under Your Spell in exchange honest review. It gets my vote!
Book: Under Your Spell by Laura Wood
Tropes/Themes: Family Ties, Forced Proximity, No Third Act Breakup, HEA, Sisterhood
Clemmie Monroe finds herself newly dumped, her apartment mostly empty and even her cat is missing. Trying to recover from another heartbreak Clemmie’s sisters Lil and Serena come to comfort her by making three wishes like they would when they were kids. When someone close to the family dies Clemmie meets a stranger and ends up having an one night stand with one of the most popular rockstars Theo Eliott.
This story is about sisterhood bonds and finding what you need to be happy. The characters are realistic and ones that you grow to adore in their own ways. Clemmie is smart and funny as is Theo. Their relationship has a natural progression that comes alive off the page and is truly so charming. This is a lighthearted low stakes novel about falling in love and dealing with things that make you unhappy about your past. I recommend this one for anyone who wants an adorable story with humor and a lot of heart.
This was such a fun book to read! I didn’t have many expectations going into it, but it turned out to be a great book.
Clemmie is newly out of a relationship and with her sisters. The three of them have different mothers but the same father, an aging rock star. Because of a past relationship and her father, Clemmie has written off music and musicians.
Clemmie meets Theo and things begin to change and for the better. We get to follow along as Clemmie learns some truths and gets to know Theo.
Advance reader copy provided by Atria and NetGalley but all opinions are my own
Swoon-worthy! I was hooked from the beginning of this book!
Three sisters, daughters of famous rock star Ripp, were raised together by their 3 different mums as one family in one giant house. The girls were all born within 4 months of each other and extremely close. This, alone, sounds like an absolute dream to me!
The sisters each have unique qualities that are spot-on throughout, giving a true sense of who they are and why they have grown into the adult they are today. Specifically, why Clemmie has stand-offish relationships with men, a safe job in academia, and low expectations of herself.
The story follows 32 year old Clemmie when her boyfriend of 4 years leaves her for someone else, she loses her teaching job at the college, and is losing her home because she can't afford it without Len, her ex. The sisters cast a spell, just as they did at a break-up Clemmie had at 18, where each sister said a wish. One, a job she loves. Two, the best sex ever. Three, true love/soulmate found.
When a memorial is held for a Carl, long-time music manager of Ripp, at the Mums house, Clemmie escapes to her room and finds a very handsome man sitting on her bed. Yes, please? He, too, has come to escape all the commotion of the memorial. Clemmie opens up to the stranger about her escape, Len, work, and the spell. They end up going to his hotel and having a one night stand, the best sex Clemmie has ever had! She sneaks out, never expecting to see him, Edward, again.
A few weeks later, her oldest sister, Serena, hosts an extravagant 33rd birthday gala for herself. Here, she tells Clemmie that she has an offer that helps them both. Serena has a famous rock-star client from her label that she's arranged to go to Northumberland for 6 weeks to their Granny Mac's (Lil's great-grandma) house as a writing retreat. Granny Mac left her house to Petty, Lil's mom, when she passed. The sisters spent summers at Granny Mac's, enjoying the beach and ocean and freedom from the Mums until they were 18. Serena wants Clemmie to "oversee" Theo Eliott and report to her his progress. His album is 2 years overdue, and it's up to Serena to get it out in the next few months. This opportunity would solve Clemmie's current problems of no job, no house, and no money. The problem they soon realized is that "Edward" is actually Theo Eliott.
Clemmie and Theo have such intense chemistry from the moment she walks in and sees him in her bed. The characters are vibrant, funny, and emotional, and the reader is drawn into the story as if they are there. The sexual tension is palpable between these two! Theo is sexy, flirty, and charismatic-all of which oozes through the pages. We root for good things to happen for Clemmie and her awkwardly funny character.
The friendship that develops is authentic and hopeful the entire time.
I won't spoil it, but great things happen for all the sisters in Under Your Spell!
