I would recommend if you're looking for (SPOILERS)

-m/f contemporary romance (hints of speculative)
-one night stand
-forced proximity
-slow burn
-incredible sister relationship
-he falls first
-sick comfort

This book was as amazing as it was hyped up to me to bed. Soft and lovely, a slow burn of a book that just hit all of the right notes (pun intended). Clementine has hit rock bottom. The estranged daughter a rockstar she has a rule against ever dating them, but what ahppens when your increidble one night stand ends up being a rock star you need to help so he can write his next album? You end up roommates in a forced proximity situation of incredible chemistry.

One of my absolute favorite things was the sister story at the heart of this book. Clemintine was close with her sisters, but they were all such different personaltieis, taking their eperience with their father differently, and their onw expectations of love. But I adored hwo they were always there for each other no judgment just family perfection.

And gosh Theo. The sweetest, yearning man, a bit too in his own head but just wanting Clemintine to be happy. And every time he slipped up and called her a pet name. Just another incredible simp to add to our Theo book boyfriend bookshelf.

I absolutely LOVED this book! Was just what I needed as a 4th of July read!

The story revolves around Clemmie, her two sisters and the very famous Theo Elliot (rockstar, heart throb, womanizer). Clemmie is feeling down and out.... she has no job, fresh break-up, and lost her apartment. She gets a very interesting job opportunity that she is unsure about but decides she'll take it and it is a wild ride to say the least!

This is my first Laura Wood novel and it was fast paced and swoony. I will definitely read more from her! I really enjoyed this book, there was family. romance, therapy, friendship and a really great story. The location descriptions were great, I felt like I was there with the characters. I am definitely going to have a book hangover after this one and want more from the characters in this book!

Thank you to Netgalley, Laura Wood and Atria Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

This was a very cute and sweet romcom. I really enjoyed the plot, the banter, the sisters. Clemmie and Theo are great together. It's amazing to me the gems I find when I read a "new to me" author. Laura Wood thoroughly entertained me.

DNF @ 26%. There were almost 10 full pages of no dialogue and only inner monologue which is incredibly too long for me. I found the plot to be too far fetched and the odds of someone her age not knowing someone super famous just blows my mind. Overall just wasn't for me. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to be an early reader. All thoughts are my own.

This was the romcom I didn’t even know I needed in my life. It easily has made my top list reads of this year. It had everything I could want in a good romcom with a bit of magical realism thrown in. I loved the depth of all the main characters. I read romcoms for the light hearted nature but without a good plot or character development, I don’t find it very enjoyable. This book checked all the boxes! I loved seeing all the main characters on a journey. Clemmie’s was by far the most evolved and it warmed my heart to see her grow from all her bad experiences. Theo was an absolute delight. He had the swoony rock star but also thoughtful MMC vibe I needed. The best part of the book though was the moments with the Weird Sisters and with the hints of magical realism. It made their story lines that much more vibrant. I am now day dreaming of vacationing in a seaside home …. and wouldn’t mind a Theo to join me as well. If Laura Wood writes more books like this, I will continue to read them all. She’s a new author for me but one I’m definitely going to keep on my radar.

Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for the ARC.

Loved this. Finally a book that was a joy to read from beginning to end. Everything here was handled well from family issues to therapy to romance to sibling relationships. Loved how sweet Theo and Clemmie were together. Would like to read books from Serena and Lil’s point of view.

This was a solid rom com and great for a beach read. Clemmie is the daughter of a famous musician but chooses to live out of the spotlight. She just lost her job, was broken up with, and is trying to pull her life back together. She hits it off with a stranger and has a memorable one night stand, where they part ways.

Then Clemmie lands a job to watch over a famous musician as he’s struggling to write his new album. Of course, it’s Theo, the famous musician from her one night stand. They spend 6 weeks together at her family’s beach house as he finds inspiration for his new album.

The two characters were smitten with each other from the start, so there’s really no tension/ slow burn which I usually go for. It made the middle a bit slow. I did enjoy the family dynamics, which really highlighted the importance of family and especially your chosen family.

Clemmie and Eliot are magic together. What starts as a one night stand quickly morphs into her doing a favor that involves basically working as his assistant. The secluded, away from Hollywood setting was perfect - it gave Clemmie space to deal with her generally negative feelings toward fame, particularly her rock star father. And it gave Eliot an opportunity to be the sweet guy he was under his own rock star surface.

I thought showing the negative aspects of fame and how it affects people’s families was a nice change from all the glitz and glamour we normally see in a rock star romance. They felt like real people, not caricatures. The romance was a slow and steady build until it was undeniable, and they felt so perfect together.

Clemmie’s sisters are amazing side characters. They’re loud and bold in their own ways, but they complement her realism so perfectly and they only want the best for her. I thought the way their relationship was written was really lovely and realistic.

Clemmie Moore's unconventional life has taught her one thing - she will NEVER (again) date a rock star. Her dad and ex are both musicians and she is done with them. Now she’s been dumped by a cheating accountant and one drunken night she and her sisters decide to revive a childhood ritual called the “breakup spell” promising her and her sisters (among other things) finding their soulmate. After that Clemmie ends up having her first one night stand with a super cute guy. Then she is guilted into doing her sister a favor and babysitting a famous rock star for 6 weeks to make sure he gets his album done - alone in her childhood country house. In rom com style - guess who her one night stand turns out to be???

I hadn't heard a lot about this one and I was happy to go into it blind; this was absolutely adorable in so many ways. I read it in a day and even put down the other book I was reading so I could just engross myself in this one. This book has sister, father/daughter, mother/daughter and unconventional mother/daughter relationships; it touches upon some childhood trauma and how the media treats young girls in the spotlight - it's just a really great story and had all the feels (and a teeny tiny bit of spice) and was just what I was looking for and what I needed. I loved the British humor and I ended up listening to some of it on audio and thought the narrator was spot on. There are a lot of famous stars/common people relationship books out there and so they have to be good to be worthwhile - this one is!

As much as I love both celebrity romance and forced proximity, this didnt really grab me. The supernatural element was underdone, and the romance didn't get as emotionally deep as i wanted it to.

There is something magic about this book! It was quirky and fun. It gave perfect romcom vibes with a little hocus pocus. I loved the dynamic of the sisters. I was captured from the moment they did the break up spell. There was just so much growth that happened throughout and I loved that Wood brought everything together in the end!

Under Your Spell by Laura Wood
Contemporary romance.
Clementine Monroe was once dumped by a musician and decided to stay away from them in the future. And her most recent ex cheated and then took all the furniture and their cat! So Clemmie and her sisters wish for “hot sex” for her. Meeting a super hot man at a funeral turns into a one-night stand and it’s only after agreeing to a job set up by her sister that she realizes is the same man. Famous rock star Theo Eliot is the hottest musician on the planet and working in the same house everyday with Clemmie is not going to remain hands off for long.

Sisters, soul mates, and best friends. They plan, they support, they tease and they know. And Clemmie’s two sisters know Theo is the one for her. Their breakup spell guaranteed it.
I loved the closeness of the sisters. Their father is quite a trip but certainly comes through in the end. The hero is quite grumpy but turns to scrumptious soon enough.

Amusing and sexy. Romantic and dreamy.

I absolutely ate this book up! Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for this eARC. I absolutely LOVED this rom com. Clementine is one of the sweetest most loveable characters, her sisters are badasses, and Theo is a dream. Clementine is the daughter of one of the biggest rockstars in the world and is having a bad time. Her job is ending, she's being broken up with, and she's carrying a lot of past trauma. She meets Theo Elliot the biggest pop star in the world and their lives change from there. I loved the main characters. I laughed, I teared up, and I would love to see spinoffs with the sisters as well. Highly recommend!

This was sweet but not as good as I was hoping for. It had lots of laughs and plenty of feelings.

The sisters cast a "spell" and that whole thing was unnecessary to the plot.

But Clemmie and Theo toghether were amazing. I loved any scene with the two of them in it.

Wow - absolutely loved this book from beginning to end. Easy to fall in love with the characters and while I blew through the story there was more substance and development than I expected. This story of three sisters focusing on Clemmie and her relationship with a superstar was a breath of fresh air. Fans of Center’s “The Bodyguard” will love this - similar vibes but different enough this is completely new. Highly recommend and can’t wait to see what else Wood has written - this was my first novel of hers.

This was such a wonderful rom com. There were genuine laugh out loud moments balanced really well by the tenderness and tension between Clemmie and Theo. It had a lot of tropes I love done super well: celebrity romance, forced proximity, a little bit of magic, and a close knit family.

Clementine is a lot of things, the daughter of an aging rockstar, a doctor in medieval literature, one third of a group of inseparable sisters, and someone who has been hurt one too many times and afraid to take risks. She has just been dumped by her boyfriend of 4 years, who took away her cat and almost all their furniture, she has just lost her job and it going to lose her flat as well. Her sister's ban together to cheer her up and they perform one of their witchy spells to help Clem move on.

At the funeral of a close family friend she meets a guy, they have an unforgettable one night stand and she leaves in the morning leaving behind only a note. She figures she will never see the guy again, then her sister asks her if she can babysit a rockstar in the English countryside while he writes an album. She figures it will be a way to make some money and give her time to figure out her next steps. What she doesn't expect is for the rockstar to be the guy who rocked her world not to long ago.

Clem doesn't really do the rockstar thing, and figures she can babysit him for the next 6 weeks no problem, and without any risk of feelings developing. What she doesn't expect is for Theo to be nothing like she imagines, and very hard to resist.

In her acknowledgements the author admits she didn't think she was capable of writing an adult romcom but holy crap was she wrong. This was fabulous, the banter, the silliness, the sisterhood bond, the chemistry, just everything was so well executed. The timing of this book felt so well paced, it was slow enough for the chemistry and romance to really grow, and hit every step for it to be believable. The fact that i loved a closed door romance this much, and the connection between the characters felt so sizzling is a true testament to the authors writing. I honestly have zero things i would change and I hope the author continues to write adult books.

Gosh, this book!!! I just love when I smile and laugh through an entire book and leave it feeling just so happy. That's exactly what this book did for me. I found Clemmie to be an absolute delight of a main character, and loved her growth. Theo was the perfect and most charming male counterpart, and he's definitely taking the book boyfriend position right now. I loved the development of their relationship. I loved how they learned how to communicate with each other, and gosh darnit I just loved their British humor! I want to also mention how sweet the relationship of the three sisters are as well- how they grew up together in sort of strange circumstances but are truly soul mates. I am highly recommending this book to all my friends, will be including it in the best summer reads lists for this year for sure, and will certainly be looking for more that this author writes in the future. There is no better feeling than when you binge read an entire book in a day, as I did Under Your Spell!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this book. All opinions within this review are my own.
