Don’t let the fact that this is a spicy Christmas novella fool you. While it is in fact about Christmas and there is most definitely some spice, this book was a very deep and complex read. It honestly gave me whiplash the way it went from such very dark and serious moments to light and witty banter.

The MFC, Ivy, who was scarred from the Christmases in her past, was such a closed off and cold person. I just could not help but feel such deep pain for her character no matter what else was going on.

The author definitely does a great job getting you all
In your feels and having you really taking a deep look at your own life and what is important. I love a spun version on one of my favorite Christmas genres (let’s be honest A Christmas Carol is basically it’s own genre, in a league of its own). However, even with the ghosts coming back and taking her through the usual time travel, Christmas past was just always haunting me, clear through the end of the book. (Maybe that was the idea?)

I did like the story and the idea, I just really struggled with the extreme mood shifts. I’m all for making light of a situation, (literally my go-to in dealing with anything) and even some dark humor, but there was something about this story that just made me… uncomfortable.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this Audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.

An erotic rom com adaptation of A Christmas Carol to entertain and delight! Outstanding audio narration really brings the characters, their personalities, the angst, the laughter, the story fully to life! I've seen, read or listened to almost all adaptions of A Christmas Carol, Scrooge and so on, but this one is my new favorite adaptation! Of course, the original is always a classic and will remain in the top spot as greatest version, but of the adapted versions this one is my new favorite. The right amount of spice to heat the story up with a unique take on how the "Scrooge" of the story came to be and why the ghosts are there to visit her. Yep, our "Scrooge" in this version is a her and a vibrant, fabulous her she is!!! Think of a nice version of Miranda Priestly if she had been a designer rather than a magazine editor, but still driven and work focused while avoiding real life emotions twisted with Scrooge to become this book's main character. So, very much fun to listen too! I laughed out loud, I sniffled and even needed a tissue or two, but never fear a happily ever after is on the agenda! Definitely a fun must listen around the holidays or anytime really!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ghosts of Christmas by Kenya Wright, an audiobook narrated by Ruthie Bowles was a festive, heart-warming Christmas story with lessons to learn and happy ever after to find!
What can I say, I have a soft spot for Christmas stories! I just love them! And this was light, romantic, emotional, and fun! I loved every single minute of this book! And a special thank you to Ruthie Bowles, she made this story even more magical! Absolutely must read/listen Christmas book with a deeply wrapped message inside!

Ivy is an Ice Queen! She doesn't do love, emotions, and Christmas. She is dedicated to her success and everything else is a second plan. It's not like Ivy is a heartless monster, she is just deeply traumatized and hiding her pain as well as she can.
When Ivy's best friend decides to have her dream wedding in Lapland Ivy must spend time with her best friends brother, a guy who is madly in love with her.
As we can guess, there are lessons to learn and things to rethink. The story is magical!

Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this book!

Book Title: Ghosts of Christmas:

I love Christmas and a Christmas romance is always special.
However, I did not check reviews on this - it indicated Holiday Romance.
I typically do some homework and double reviews. I never suspected this would be something other than a Christmas story..
. When I saw it described as a steamy romance and another reviewed said it was Erotica. I said – Oh No!
Erotica is not my thing and definitely not my idea of a Holiday romance.

I gave it a try as I thought perhaps there was a Christmas story hidden in it. Nope!
Also since this was an audiobook the graphic sex was something I didn’t want to hear and I tried skipping so I could ‘get’ the story but just didn’t work for me.

I appreciate NetGalley and Dreamscape Media offer of this audiobook.
Audiobook Publishing Release Date scheduled for December 5, 2023.

Erotica is not for me and this was more erotic than romance, so I’m not going to give a star rating because it wouldn’t be fair.

The door is SO wide open I felt violated.🫣😳😅The smut is very porny and very abundant, so if steam is what you’re looking for, look no further! There was a visual about glue that reminded me of the whole ‘buckets of orc cum’ thing that was happening on the internet a while ago.

Anyway, this is more of a lust story than a love story and I do believe they’re lusting over each other but I don’t believe they love each other. I think in part that’s because Saint didn’t feel real to me - his dialogue often sounded like he was giving an interview.

I didn’t find the FMC very relatable either - at one point she gets in a physical brawl in a bar… but she’s a successful businessperson who exists in the spotlight professionally? Alright, sure.

I liked the premise a lot though! Having the wedding be set in Finland was fun, too.
