Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Kids for an advanced read copy of this book!
A Mischief of Mice is an adorable book that tells about a group of squirrels searching for their missing mice friends at the start of winter. The squirrels encounter several other groups of animals on their hunt for their friends.
This book is a wonderful way to educate elementary readers on animal grouping names or to help children learn about animals in winter. It would make a great addition to a classroom library!
What a cute little book! The art style is lovely and it’s easy to determine each animal (which is helpful when you’re teaching different animals to your toddler) it’s an easy read and flows nicely! My little one enjoyed the search for the mice.
*I received a free copy of this book and I’m leaving this review of my own volition.
A mischief of mice is a mystery story about all the animals coming together to find out what happened to the group of mice. This was a cute story! The animals all worked together well. I also loved the illustrations and this is a perfect book for fall. I think kids will really like trying to solve the mystery.
Thanks so much to netgalley and sourcebook kids for the arc of this book in exchange for an honest review!
This is such a darling book! It’s quite a collection of collective nouns - nouns that have groups of animals! It’s fun to learn all the names - and a sweet story if following clues to find the answer to a mystery.
A mischief of mice suddenly scurry by and the scurry of squirrels wonder where they have gone. Did the band of coyotes get them? Maybe the parliament of owl got them. . Could it be the cauldron of bats? Luckily, the sleuth of bears helped the squirrels find the mice. They suggest to follow the mice tracks to see where they went. It leads them to a tree, where the mice went inside it due to the cold weather.
Such a fun book. I loved learning all the names for the collection of animals. I loved the end, where it has the Collections of Nouns and gives a fun fact about each. For instance, did you know that despite a collection of ravens is called an unkindness, ravens can actually be kind & make friends with each other and display empathy. Great book for nature loving kids!
