Laughing All the Way by Mia Summers was a cutesy Christmas romance…with some snark sprinkled throughout! What more could you ask for?! I wish it would have been longer, less novella and more novel, as I think the story would have felt less rushed! And, while I loved the characters, I wanted more details and development! Overall, this was a fun read, and I look forward to reading more books by this author!
I give it 3.5 stars!
The perfect grinchy x sunshine read for the holiday season. I love a small town romance and this one hit the mark.
I would first like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.
Laughing All the Way is a Christmas themed, grumpy x sunshine, Grinch inspired romance story. The story is like a Hallmark movie in the fact where a snarky reporter has been forced to film in a Christmas obsessed town. Noelle, the FMC, is a sassy YouTuber who has her job on the line and has been sent to Evergreen Creek to talk about their Christmas festivities, where we meet the hot mayor, Colin.
Overall, I knew going into this book, it was going to be cliche to say the least and otherwise it was a super cute story! I was just not entirely impressed by the writing style and I was not completely hooked where I just HAD to finish the book. I also had a difficult time keeping up with whose point of view I was reading. I felt like it was a bit rushed and not completely checked on, especially because I noticed some grammatical errors on the main characters names (one time Noelle was written as Nicole and Colin was written as Connor.)
Again, overall cute little Hallmark movie in a book, but the writing style was personally not my cup of tea.
This was sucha fun and cute Christmas novella just in time to get into the spirit.
The way I enjoyed this book that I literally finished the same day.
What hapens when you mix an snarky Influencer who hates Christmas and the mayor of a Town that loves Christmas?
You might think that It would end in disaster but no for these 2, they found a conection that none of them expect.
Noelle and Collins were so adorable and cute.
Everytime these 2 were togheter my heart feel so happy and full.
Thank you Netgalley and Mia Summers for the oportunity to read this ARC in exchange of an honest review.
Thank you to Sterling & Stone publishing & NetGalley for this book. A sweet rom com to put you in all the Christmas feels. Grumpy going through some childhood feelings associated with Christmas meets sunshine, Mr. Mayor who adores Christmas. I loved all the festival activities from the marketplace, to the ugly sweater contest, to ice skating, to bingo. It truly feels like you’ve stepped into Christmastown.
A great read, the story of Noelle and Colin. A festive enemies to lovers story. I liked how it was told from both points of view.
the way noelle is written makes it seem like she tries too hard to dislike things but that doesn't reflect in her character at all. despite the grumpy-sunshine, it actually feels like both noelle and colin are grumps. colin is determined to dislike noelle because of her reputation, and noelle, somehow, has no real bitterness (?) that i would expect from a typical hallmark-esque/scrooge type heroine to have -- which could be exactly what Mia was going for when she wrote this, but it just feels contradictory to what it was supposed to be.
simultaneously too rushed and too slow
Oh how I loved Noelle and Colin's story.
When Noelle a social media critic who is harsh on her reviews, finds herself in Christmas USA for a week, she is nit excited.
Noelle has had a hard childhood full of disappointment and Christmas letdown.
Colin who is mayor of Evergreen Creek and loves his job and his town but most of all Christmas.
Colin knows that the Christmas festival needs to raise alot of money as the school needs a roof and an unexpected flood atvthe library.
When Colin finds out the social media is coming he is less than happy.
Noelle teys to find faults in Evergreen Creek but finds a community that sticks together and work together.
When Noelle's social media numbers start to fall her assistant goes behind her back and makes Noelle appear to be sparky and hurts Colin and the community.
When Noelle denies doing anything. Colin ignores hervattempts and Noelle leaves.
When Colin finds out the truth, he is pushed by the Ines who care to go get his gal!
The blurb sounded fun; it reads like a Hallmark movie. It's light and fluffy, except that the lead character was slightly annoying. In the end, I wasn't reeled into it.
I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book!
All of Mía Summers rom-coms are beautifully written and encase you into the story seamlessly. But it’s just something about a hallmark movie book that warms your heart.
More importantly I love the way that Noelle was portrayed, and I’m a sucker for a grumpy FMC. It resonates with me. I also loved her character arc and that she never changed who she was, she simply realized it was okay to let someone in. It further empowers her tk embrace the fact that she is opinionated and not overly emotional or sappy, she is who she is, rightfully so, and she finds love that meets her where she is and shows her it’s okay to open up to people you love.
I loved this book and would certainly recommend and reread this!
This was like reading a very enjoyable Hallmark movie. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the book. As I was reading I could imagine the stars that could play the characters involved. It truly brought the spirit of Christmas to life and made you want to visit the town of Evergreen Creek. I was in love with all the characters from the beginning.
Thank you to NetGalley and Mia Summers for allowing to read this book in exchange for my review.
If you want a grumpy sunshine (she’s the grump), cheesy, Christmas book then this is it for you. It’s giving Hallmark movie but better and not as wildly unrealistic. She’s a youtuber who hates Christmas and he’s the mayor of “Christmas Town, USA”. It's time for the yearly Christmas festival fundraiser to keep the town afloat for the year and she's coming to town to get her viewership numbers up. The main characters have amazing chemistry and great banter. It’s relatively short but will give you a nice dose of Christmas cheer for this holiday season!!
I would’ve loved it if this book was a first person dual POV but that’s just my preference.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me a chance to honestly review this story!
This was a pretty by the script Grinch/Sunshine and Big City/Small Town story as seen on Hallmark every day since October. Much like the cover art, these are generic characters that do festive things but don't have any features that make them memorable or unique.
As soon as this influencer and her assistant arrive in the small town, they start to lose their big city cynicism when they realize they can get good coffee here. The conflict at the end of act 3 really wasn't a big deal and seemed forced because the formula insists on a misunderstanding so the couple can reunite in the end. The mayor was borderline creepy at times. This book could have easily turned into a thriller.
There were quite a few continuity errors that kept distracting me. Like those fighting guys. Are they brothers or cousins? Because they are called both in alternating paragraphs.
Thank you to Sterling & Stone and NetGalley for the advance reader copy. I am required by law to disclose this.
If you enjoy cheesy Hallmark Christmas movies you will definitely love this book. I really enjoys Noelle and Colin’s story. She is a snarky journalist/content creator who doesn’t live Christmas and he is the Mayor of a town who you guessed it LOVES Christmas. She is covering the towns Christmas festival for her channel and her grinchy heart may grow a few sizes before the end of the book. I absolutely love it and all of the christmasy vibes it gave!
If you like hallmark Christmas movies you’ll love this book. It’s a grumpy x sunshine story with fun and fun witty banter. A quick and easy read that left me feeling happy.
3.5/5
This book had all the cheesy hallmark vibes and i loved it! The female main character was very snobby at the beginning but started to soften and fall in love with the male main character. I do wish there were more jokes and snarky comments throughout the book but overall it was a cute holiday read!
Thank you!
Is this memorable? No. Is this perfect for the holiday season? Yes. Absolutely. Not Summers’ strongest story but of course, is enjoyable no matter what. This is the perfect grumpy x sunshine (or should I say grinch x Santa) and great for a read-in-one-sitting type of book
I received this book from NetGalley.
I'm really finding it difficult to like Noelle, and not just because she hates Christmas. I think her job made it difficult for me to relate to her because she seems so obnoxious. Plus, she purposefully uploading something Colin asked her not to didn't sit well with me. She chose viewers, people she doesn't even know, after someone who was trying to do something good for his town.
Plus, she's obviously starting to develop feelings for Colin but still says she's just flirting for the cameras, even to herself. It's annoying.
What Gretchen did, making that video, was unacceptable and honestly should have got her fired.
Overall the book was alright but a bit disappointing.
This was a fun, Hallmark movie of a book! The characters has good chemistry, the set up was super fun and christmassy, and I had fun reading it! I also liked the conflict— it was realistic without being overly anxiety-inducing. Overall, this is good, clean, Christmas fun.
The pacing was a little off; the romance felt rushed and there were jumps forward in the feelings department that seemed abrupt, particularly around the 60% mark.
Who’s in the mood for a little Christmas Spirit? Like Hallmark Christmas Movies? If so, then Laughing All the Way is a good choice. It falls into the opposites attract/finding the Christmas spirit troupe. Noelle is a podcaster known for her sarcastic wit but her numbers have been dropping (she still has over a million followers). Her boss assigns her to visit Evergreen Creek and cover their weeklong Christmas festival run by the hot town mayor.
This book is a cute quick read and perfect for the holidays. I wish there were a little more build-up to the romance and maybe a little more heat. This is definitely a G-rated romance. However, all of the Christmas themes and traditions were included which put me in the holiday mood. 3.5 Stars- I want to thank Netgalley and Summers for this ARC.
