I really like the idea behind this book, where professional and amateur artists alike shared their emotions about the pandemic, their visions of what life would be like after, and more. I also liked seeing such a wide variety of art styles. I did miss some of the meanings because a lot of the writing was too blurry to read in the e-ARC, but I think most of the ideas still came through in the artwork. Overall, I don’t think I’m the ideal person this book was made for, but the concept is great and the worldwide participation was heartwarming.
Rescue Party is a compilation of comics from all over the world about the quarantine of 2020. Started by Gabe Fowler, owner of the comic book store Desert Island, the project began with a simple email asking friends, creators, and anyone else willing to contribute comics. The result is amazing, with hundreds of one page comics from across the globe, all united in to create something in that isolated time. There are so many different styles and mediums, some tell stories, others read like dreams.
An interesting collaborative art project from the beginning of the pandemic. Lots of different styles of artists, some of whom were amateurs or people looking for an outlet, from around the world. I didn't like every page, but it was interesting to see common themes.
