Leonie, a young woman trying to live her best life after a tragic past, is being stalked. Odd things start happening but who is behind them? I really liked this one. It was suspenseful and fun to read. I will be looking for more thrillers written by Ms. Rijks.

I love a vengeful plot and this didn’t disappoint! Both main characters had their faults but you could sympathise with them. Leonie was unfortunately a product of parental control which was detrimental to her in her adult life, we see her break free from the chains of her parents wealth. Markus was a great twist of a character, I didn’t expect it to go where it did with him!
Nice easy read packed full of drama, I really enjoyed :)

I was very intrigued in the beginning and held on because I really wanted to know what happened to the characters. This book had its fair share of ups and downs and the characters were a bit annoying. I enjoy Miranda Rijks’ writing style because she usually has me on the edge of my seat. This one wasn’t my favorite, but I’ll keep reading her books.

I very much enjoyed this twisted tale of revenge. The characters were little annoying at times but this gave the story an extra element of intrigue as you try to work out what is going on.

Loved how quickly this progressed and how it switched between two characters points of views. This one had me guessing till the very end. Very well written.

A quick read book, chapters with different points of view. I like chapters like this so we can better understand motivation and what each person is thinking. Regarding the story, I was curious to know if revenge really happens and what it would be like. I expected a different ending to the story, but I enjoyed reading it.

This is the first book I've read by the author, so I don't know much about her writing, but I'm interested in following her work by reading other books.

Thanks to netgalley for the copy.

Thank you for this ARC.
I've read lots of Miranda's books and for me this one didn't live up to expectations - sorry! It is very similar to other books around.
But this happens with most authors so keep writing and I will wait for the next one - hopefully!

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. I typically enjoy Rijks writing style so I was excited to get this early copy. The perfect life with a dark past trope has been overdone in my opinion. This was no exception, it's too similar to so many books I have recently. I gave it a fair shot and was a bit disappointed. Quite predictable.

“Make Her Pay” by Miranda Rijks is a gripping psychological thriller centered around Leonie, a woman with a seemingly perfect life that begins to unravel due to a dark secret from her past. Ten years ago, Leonie was involved in a fatal car accident and fled the scene. As she prepares for her wedding, strange events suggest someone knows about her past and is out to get her.

Leonie is beautiful, wealthy, and smart. She runs her “own” business (that her dad helped her start and manage) and she meets a gorgeous, wealthy man who she falls head over heels for in a fast-paced relationship. But she’s hiding something from him and from everyone else-when she was 16, she borrowed her mom’s car and got into an accident where someone was left for dead.

Carrie has had a rough life and just can’t catch a break until she finds the person responsible for all her problems and decides to take revenge.

In theory, this book should work. But neither Leonie nor Carrie were characters I connected with. Leonie is supposed to be smart (went to Oxford) but never looked into the accident? Never talked to a lawyer? Never pushed back on her overly controlling father? And Carrie blamed everyone for her problems instead of taking responsibility for a portion of the shitty hand she was dealt.

And nothing was remotely plausible. I lost count of how many times I rolled my eyes and the ridiculous plans or events.

And the writing was not what I was hoping for. All this telling. Never showing. Not great. Feel free to skip this one and all its implausibility.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my honest opinion in exchange for an ARC.

Rijks’ writing out me through the wringer with this one, never knowing what was coming next with twists and turns on every page, all of which were executed perfectly. That one last twist at the end was a knife to the heart!

Make Her Pay

3.5 stars
Psychological thriller
Read April 10th

Leonie made a mistake a long time ago, the past always haunts you after getting married and thinking that life couldn't get much better. The past starts to slowly come up and catches up to Leonie real fast.

Okay, so this was just an odd book it was interesting and kept me entertained till it just got to be too much. The whole past catches up and makes everything so weird the revenge aspect is intense. I didn't care for any of the characters and I just wanted it to end.

Thank you, Inkubator books and Net Galley for the eARC for an honest review

A very enjoyable read with many twists throughout.

I enjoyed the dual narration - it was a great way to piece the story together by hearing it told from the perspective of two different characters. It certainly added to the mystery of what what would happen next.

I'm a little uncertain how I feel about the ending, however, I do feel that it wrapped the story up nicely.

Certainly a worthwhile read.

Some of you know that @mirandarijksauthor is an Author I recommend as much as I can so I jumped at the chance to bag a space on the @zooloosbooktours for this!

Leonie is a successful Businesswoman, she's met Markus & everything seems to be going great for her. However, she is harbouring a secret from years ago that only one person knows about. A devastating accident with a tragic outcome.

As her wedding day nears She fears someone is out to get her, is Markus who he seems, does someone else know her secret or is she just paranoid???

Another corker from Miranda. Despite guessing who someone was I didn't see other bits coming, I second guessed myself a few time & then when it all came together....wow!

A gripping mind bending read!

Leonie is living her best life. She’s successful and about to marry the man of her dreams. Weighing her down is a terrible mistake she made when she was only sixteen. As things start going wrong, she cant help but wonder if her past is catching up with her …

It’s a very cleverly plotted, twisty tale with characters you love to hate.

If you’re looking for a compelling thriller, pick this up! The audio narration by Charlie Albers and Ella Lynch was fantastic.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an e-ARC.

Leonie is living her best life. Still in her twenties, she’s beautiful, successful and has just met Markus, the man of her dreams.

But Leonie has a secret. Ten years ago, she was involved in an accident in which another driver died. Leonie shouldn’t have been behind the wheel that night – no license, no insurance – so she fled the scene. And ever since, she’s been struggling to deal with the terrible guilt.

Now, as her wedding to Markus draws near, it seems someone is out to get her. It’s little things at first – botched work appointments, a cancelled bridal dress - but it soon escalates into a terrifying campaign which threatens her business, her family and even her life.

Leonie, caught up in a relentless nightmare, has no idea why anyone would set out to destroy her. Until she realizes there’s a link to the accident that happened all those years ago.

Someone knows what she did. Someone is determined to make her pay.

Make Her Pay – the gripping psychological thriller from the best-selling author of The Visitors and What She Knew.

I really enjoyed this story.
