I loved The Leap! I loved the characters and loved the suspenseful and adictive story. Sci-Fi that is truly a thriller considering how close to home it hits with all of the advances we're making in technology these days.. This book was one I will be thinking about for awhile! 5 stars!
This book was not at all what I expected it to be. In a good way. It's a very well-written sci-fi murder mystery and I didn't know I needed that. Great!
Sci-fi murder mystery! Sign me up! I really enjoyed this little gem, even if sometimes things felt like vague in a way that I couldn't completely image the world building, however the characters were making up for it.
So, we have our heroine - Sean - a formerly policewoman now a detective taking on the disappearance of a wealthy man, his wife being her client. However, as dead bodies pile up, the rest of the team is intertwined in a strange, abstract at some points yet fulfilling - to my tastes at least - race against an evil corporation that wants to dominate over peoples desires.
As I mentioned earlier, the world building is close to non-existent. The author gives a vague presentation of the whereabouts the story is taking place, and at some points the characters were so conveniently linked to each other that made me cringe. However, the story is solid and the motives were there making the conversations move the plot forward and not feel like some sluggish way to bring down a wall with a chopstick.
Human connections, morality, big tech corps ethics, they are all there for you to dive into in this little gem of literature.
I felt this story was completely wacky from the start. The crazy way they live, the way the characters link up and the tech that seems in control and out of control at the same time. The strange deaths and the theme of not quite real running through it aren't really comfortable reading. All in all, I'd say this is a very strange story.
This book really makes you think about what tech can do and the writer gets you wondering if it could actually happen in reality. The ending was a nice turn and I could totally see a sequel based on the way the story ends. I liked the writing and the plot, but it got a bit long in some parts. Still, a good read.
"The Leap" by R.T.W. Lipkin is a gripping story that follows the protagonist Sean, a private detective, as she investigates a series of mysterious deaths and a missing husband. This book delves into concepts like time travel, unknown pathogens, and nonhuman life-forms, creating a sense of urgency and the potential for catastrophic consequences.
This was a read that made you think
about the limits of technology. the idea of a computer virus inecting
people sounds impossible and
insane, the writer really makes you question if this could become a reality. The
ending was unexpected and I could see another novel. Well worth the read
