Lady Abigail Somerset is finally out of mourning, but that doesn't mean she's ready to remarry, just for an adventure. Heading to her sister's estate in Scotland, she pretends to be a commoner, and meets a handsome American in a tavern, and flirts like she has never before. However, he is heading to the same place as her, and she flees quickly. Thankfully, Laurence, the heir to the Wright fortune, is willing to play along, but he wants Abby more than he has ever wanted a woman. In Britain to find an aristocratic wife, and to further his business, he's find that woman in Abby, but how can he, and the rest of her family, convince her that her late husband can't control her any more, and she's allowed to be happy?

I really enjoyed this book. In the previous one, we saw Abby's elderly husband die, and her begin her mourning period. Now out of it, she still bears the mental scars of her marriage, and it's going to take a lot of work to break down the walls she built up. Never allowed to dance or flirt with anyone other than her husband, and being a nursemaid more than anything, had left her unable to think that Laurence was anything other than a flirt and scoundrel. I loved how he pushed her out of her comfort zone, knowing she needed adventure, but would need a push to get there. The rest of her family loved her greatly, but also knew that if they left her to her own devices, she would remain a widow for life, and never find love or happiness. Laurence and Abby's banter and chemistry was fantastic, and their relationship just right for their characters.

Thank you to Netgally, the publishers, and Sky Purington

When I requested this book I was unaware that it was apart of a series, one that requires you to read the previous books for this one to make sense. I am unable to read all the previous books along with this one before the publish date. Therefore, I will rate this a fair 3/5 stars and will adjust the rating and review when I am able to read all the books in the series along with this one.

Lady Abigail, in a brief moment, pretends to be a different woman, but it backfires. Laurence Wright is an American businessman and is all about pursuing what he wants. He wants Abigail. Laurence thinks it will be easy to make the lady his, but she comes with a lot of baggage. Confusing at first, it's not explained until later in the book the origin of her problems. As much as Laurence is pushy, I have to give him credit trying to understand her problems and hang in there to help her. His character really changes the most. Abigail runs hot then cold throughout the book until the end. Some mild descriptive open bedroom door.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley.

Entertaining Historical Romance

Abigail and Laurence pretend to be commoners, and he even thinks she is a lady of the night. Then, they find out they are heading to the same Scottish castle, so she confesses her deception.

Laurence wants to marry a woman from the nobility, and he decides to do what he can to win Abigail. He resorts to blackmail, which is not likely to help him attain what he desires. However, neither Abigail nor Laurence counts on the magic of love. He does not believe in love; she does not want to marry again. Can love find a way? It turns out that Laurence is not the rogue he makes himself out to be. He discovers that thoughtfulness and gentleness are more likely to help him achieve his aim than blackmail. What does Laurence do, and will he win his lady in the end? This is an entertaining story. I recommend it to those who like historical romance.

Such a great book!

Lady Abigail Somerset ends her mourning period and wants to have all the adventures she couldn't have with her late husband. She is in her way to visit some acquaintances when she meets an impertinent american that thinks she's a trollop. Even if she played along for a little while, she ends up the charade and it's on her way once more.

Laurence Wright, the heir to the bast Wright fortune, is totally confused. Women don't say no to him but that one not only said no, she left him wanting more. He should stop thinking about her. After all, he is in England to find a wife and start some business. Even if he didn't love her future wife, he shouldn't be thinking on mistresses... yet. He is so surprised when he arrives to his friend's Blake castle and founds that woman. The woman who is not a lte worker is a Lady, exactly what he needs.

Please read this book. It's very well written. I hope you connect with the characters as much as I did.

Second Thoughts About the Heir by Sky Purington is the third in her Second Time Brides series and a true winner. Lady Abigail Somerset is finally out of mourning and ready for adventure but in her first visit to an inn, begin mistaken for a trollop was not what she had in mind. And, when she got to her sister’s castle and discovered the man who had made the error was a guest, she nearly decided to spent her time there in her chamber. Laurence Wright was an American businessman, in England to marry into the nobility, hoping to open doors for expanding his business. He had grown up with a fearsome father for whom business was all and who had driven away his mother with his callousness. He swore never to fall in love. Abigail was frightened. Her much older husband had spent the years of their marriage warning her about men. His daughter had died in an abusive relationship and he married her to save her from men he considered dangerous. The lessons had taken as Abby was now unable to trust. It was a wretched beginning.

The more Laurence saw of Abby, the more he wanted her. The more Abby saw of Laurence, the more she believed him to be the sort of man her husband had warned against. They were both lovely characters, damaged in their own ways. Her sisters were all rooting for the success of the relationship and watching it all unfold was pure joy. Laurence coaxed her past her fears; he seemed to understand. While he was doing so he fell in love. It was a wonderful story of second chances. Well-plotted, with excellent pacing and a theme for the ages, it is bound to be a success!

Do we really know how much other people influence our thoughts?

In this historical romance both our characters have been heavily influenced by the opinions and deeds of people they believed were far wiser.

Our heroine is desperately looking for adventure but at the same time terrified.

Our over confident hero is like a bull in a China shop when he wants something.

Lots of fun and adventure to be had in this occasionally steamy historical romance.

This is the third book in a series about sisters who get a second chance at love. You can read any of the books separately but the series will be better read in order.

Great fun.

Second Thoughts About the Heir is the third book in the Second Time Brides series.

Lady Abigail Somerset has completed her time mourning the death of her much older husband. She is now ready for new adventures in her life. Abby meets an American at a tavern where she pretends to be a saucy wench. But when she learns they are heading to the same Scottish castle she returns to the closed off person she was before.

Laurence Wright is looking to marry into an English peerage and look for new business opportunities. When he meets Abby, he is immediately taken with her beauty and her fun personality. When they tease back and forth, he believes he can have some fun with her. But something happens and she becomes withdrawn and less fun. Once he finds out her true status as a widow with a title, he is more determined than ever to win her over and marry her.

When I first started reading this I was entertained as Abby and Laurence meet. But when she gets to her sister's castle it's as if Abby becomes someone else entirely. Where did the fun-loving Abby go??? As the story goes on, there are hurts that are revealed by them both. Will they be able to get over the past and find love once and for all.

After a tormented past in the hands of her deceased husband, Abigail decided that is time for a new adventure. She then meets Laurence, a ruthless businessman with a dark past as well.

Their relationship soon turns out to be combustible and he will do anything to possess her. We follow their adventure while we travel through their ups and downs, like we are in the middle of a cat and mouse epic battle.

This is the third book in the series and this book has a delightful story with a touch of blackmail, longing, and desire. I enjoyed the story very much; it was a roller-coaster of emotions and has an impressive character development with a nice steamy touch.

Thank you, NetGalley & the publisher, for approving me to read this arc and write this review.

What started as a lark, quickly became a recipe for disaster in this entertaining and heart-warming romance. Laurence and Lady Abigail are both living with a dark cloud over them. Where Laurence had experienced the cruel hand of his father, Abby's husband had indoctrinated her to such an extent that her spirit had almost been entirely crushed and fear hindered her from living life to the full. When Abby finally comes to trust Laurence's motives, she rediscovers the joy of living. This novel is well written and kept me glued to its pages and I experienced the range of emotions experienced by Abby, as Laurence set about freeing her from the vine which entangled her. I received a copy of this beautiful book as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Lady Abigail Somerset is ready for adventure after mourning her elderly husband. She begins by pretending to be a commoner at a tavern. More daring still, when she bumps into a handsome American who appears equally as common, she gives him the impression that she is a lady of the night. Naturally, the moment she learns he is en route to the same Scottish castle as she, she sets the record straight and makes a hasty departure. Determined to open unattainable doors to his businesses, Laurence Wright, heir to the Wright fortune, is determined to marry into the English peerage. As ruthless in love as he is in business, he decides he will make Abigail his, no matter what.
The third book in the series & whilst it is easily read on its own characters from previous books do feature. A well written interesting book that took me on an emotional roller coaster, I really liked both Laurence & Abby & enjoyed their journey to a HEA, there were snags & obstacles but it made for a very enjoyable read
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This is a cat and mouse story between Lawrence and Abby so this woman basically pretends she’s just like a regular person even though she is wealthy and meet this guy who also pretends he’s kind of like a regular, even though he’s the owner of a estate with money of his business ventures so she hangs out at the tavern pretending she’s , I love the whole catch me if you can’t love it was pretty cool. I would give this book 5 stars!

This was an entertaining book about a widowed lady who was afraid to risk her heart. This book is the third in a series and the characters from the first books are sisters of Abby, the heroine in this story. I enjoyed all of the family interactions and I was not bothered by the fact that I wasn't familiar with the history. Laurence, the hero in this story is a wealthy American who wants to gain access to the British nobility. Marriage to Abby would suit his needs perfectly. Abby finds him very attractive but much too dangerous. Laurence is the kind of man that her late husband would warn her about. On the other hand, Abby's sisters think that Laurence might be her perfect match.
This book has a fairly uncomplicated plot. Abby and Laurence are engaged in a battle of cat and mouse. Of course, everything works out in the end. The story had plenty of steam and good character development. I would definitely consider going back and reading the earlier books in the series.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest review.

Contracts, Balcony's, Determined:
This is a cat and mouse romance story between Abigail and Laurence (my favorite character). These two very interesting characters take us through much anguish and uncertainty as you can possibly imagine. Both have tormented pasts that has altered their thinking to what real love can bring. We follow them as they find their way and overcome their fears so true love can blossom and bring them the happiness they desire.
A deeply emotional story that has longing, desire, true heartfelt confessions, and so much more.
I enjoyed reading about all of their antics, their ups and down, their adventures, and finally an ending that was so endearing my heart felt really satisfied at their HEA ending.

Abby is a widow who has decided it's finally time for a bit of adventure in her life. On this adventure she meets Laurence a ruthless business man. The combination is combustible and he will do whatever it takes to possess her. A mix of blackmail, An engaging story with well written characters. As part of a series, I suggest reading the prior books to become fully
Immersed in the authors work.
